If the Ravens win the coin toss, I hope coach accepts the kickoff first. I am not confident in the secondary against quality QB's and would rather not start out already behind in scoring. Also,  I think the team plays better and more relaxed when they're ahead.

If I am not mistaken, both losses had the defense on the field first, and the team down from the start.

Personally I prefer the conventional wisdom of deferring. So if it hypothetically becomes a shootout, all you have to do is tie it up to end the first half and take the first shot in the second - or in any other circumstance you have the chance at a one-two punch with consecutive scoring drives on either side of the half.

Agreed.

When we're behind the whole mentality of the team changes...offensive playcalling becomes one-sided and Flacco looks like hes got to much pressure on him. However the defense seemingly plays better when we're behind early. They never let things get too out of hand. Id take the ball if we win the toss.

I have a feeling Pees will go back to the conservative pass rush since we're going up against a veteran QB in Ryan.

I'm pretty sure the ONLY reason Pees blitz so much yesterday was b/c of the inexperienced Glennon.

Those are valid points, but I believe there is a time and place for everything and I believe timing matters. In other words making the same choice regardless who's on the opposing side may not be the wisest decision. I'd rather see high powered opposing offenses and their QBs begin the game on the bench. That's just me!

You may be right! Their film study should help them make the right choice.

With Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Devon Hester in the slot, Pees will not blitz as much as he did yesterday.  Too many hot read options that can burn the defense if they blitz too much.

Forgot about Hester, wow. Pressure is paramount, then! Even if it's not blitzes

I agree with this! How they choose the defense is affected by what's on the other side.

He blitzed a lot against veteran Newton, so no, not it

Probably and i think Harbaugh is a pretty smart guy whom is influencing the play calling on offense and defense a bit more

Who is better Flacco or Ryan?

Matt Ryan on the road. That is all.

Ryan on the road this season:

0-3 Record, 72.8 QB Rating

Flacco at home this season:

2-1 Record, 97.0 QB Rating

Falcons have allowed a 108.2 QB Rating on the road.  Ravens have allowed an 85.6 QB Rating at home.

I'll take Flacco in this game.

I want revenge for that loss in Atlanta a few years ago.  We deserved that game, and I've been angry about that Roddy White push-off ever since.  Flacco with the comeback game-winning TD in that game, only to lose to a cheap non-called penalty, bah humbug.  We will win this one!

A hobbled veteran Cam Newton w/out true threats at reciever.

It has more to do with their offensive lines. The Colts, Steelers, Browns, and Bengals all have good offensive lines, the Bucs and Panthers do not

Just want to give a shoutout to this as well with almost everything updated. How cool is it to see a Ravens offense with the #6 passer in yards (12 touchdowns to 3 INTs is also one of the better ratios), the #5 (or 6 depending on Gore tonight) rusher, and the #5 receiver in yards, all equaling to the #6 offense in the league. I know stats don't always matter as we've seen the Ravens can still put up clunkers (see colts game and first half of Bengals game), but as a Ravens fan this is just fun to watch. I also think the team will continue to grow under Kubiak and this offense could actually make it to the p word by seasons end if we can continue to run well and keep getting the ball out of Flacco's had quickly. (P is for potent)

So what is the Falcons line like? I don't watch them play so I do not know.

Garbage is probably the best adjective I can think of. Injuries really took a toll on a line that was shaky to start with. Gabe Carimi will be starting at RT against Doom. Going to be a long day for the former first rounder and current bust. Even the Bucs waived him after Chicago did.

Same....

I think we have have a real chance to actually run for 200 on them. Their defense is horribad. Not worried about this game.

A couple weeks ago they had a TE playing RT for them. Only bright spot is Mathews but I'm confident in Suggs teaching him a few things

I usually like that ideology but I don't think it fits us. I think this offense needs to get hot and I think sitting on the sideline waiting to go does something to them. I need to look at how we did in the games we didn't get the ball first, but off the top of my head I feel like we played better on offense when we receive first.

Flacco will show his eliteness by slapping Ryan with his superbowl ring.

Flacco is going to rush the passer?! Sounds devastating! Lol

you should be blitzing more with a good line because your front 5 won't beat them one on one

Sad/funny part is, he would probably have success against that line.

In all honesty, with how Daryl has been playing, I would like to see him blitz more through the A gap while our front 4 rush. I think he'd do better at that than his coverage, which has been spotty.

Yeah I mean we had Mosley running with WR!!! Lol that's crazy to me. That guy's a baller. I liked him a lot but I didn't expect this. Only reason I didn't hype him was because I thought we were set at ILB. When him and Brown get on the field together, I can't imagine what they'll do to coverage options. I think both can run with WR.

But if the blitz is picked up, which is more likely with a good front, you're going to pay for it.
