I don't think Jimmy would need much help at all. Would Jones make some plays, yea, but I don't think he'll outmatch Jimmy.

Honestly I don't see White as much of a threat. He's still a solid player but nothing close to what he used to be imo. If Webb continues to progress I actually like him vs White. Jimmy shadowing White is a waste imo. If you are gonna have your best CB shadowing put him on Jones, otherwise just play coverage like we usually do and hope you don't find Jones matched up with Elam at any point.

Yeah, I doubt Jimmy would completely shutdown Julio, but he can limit him without help.

As for White, he isn't the big play threat he used to be. I think Webb can handle him pretty well in man coverage.

I think an argument could be made to have Jimmy just take White out of the equation and then rotate coverage to Julio's side, but that opens up the possibility of a 3rd WR/TE/RB having a big day and it also means communication has to be airtight. Any breakdowns could result in a huge play. I would rather just put Jimmy on Julio and mix the coverages up.

I agree with this, with just a little reservation because you never know what our secondary will do. But I'm pretty sure White was taken out of the game for a few plays for injury again in this game so he seems to be pretty proned to getting nicked up lately. Just to add to the differences, the falcons are coming off yet another tough loss and with Tillman out I don't know if the bears secondary is much better than the Ravens'.  I know its likely unrealistic, but I hope Will Hill plays in this game. With Jimmy playing so well this could be a good game to get Hill acclimated before the Bengals game

Oh yea he could definitely still burn us because of who we have in our secondary, but still with that said, I don't think you have to put any extra attention his way. Force him to beat us then make an adjustment.

I want them to win this game so badly. Ever since 2008 I have been eager to watch the Ravens beat the Falcons and finally silence those last few whispers about Ryan been so much better than Flacco.

Also, I'm still mad about the game in Atlanta. Roddy White should have been flagged.

So in 5 games Atlanta has been flagged twice for Offensive Pass Interference. I don't know if they were against Roddy White or not.

This is what would scare me the most with having someone like Franks and Stewart doubling Jones. One of the biggest things you need when matching up with a guy like Jones is confidence and I'm not sure anyone in the secondary outside of Jimmy has that right now.

But we can only go with Pees track record and that track record says that Jimmy will have plenty of opportunities to match up with Jones man on man but there will be some soft zone mixed in and others will draw Jones as well.

Matt Ice is a fraud. The Falcons are a lie. And The Mighty Joe Flacco is going to win another Superbowl because the Pro Bowl is foreign to him.

Fluster that QB and he'll fail on his own. Get at him early and often and the game is ours.

They need to make sure that they don't only get him early and often, but also finish the game. The D hasn't consistently played 4 quarters this year... or last, but that is neither here nor there.

436-4

Come on man, be realistic. This is a serious thread.

I think 436-3 is more likely. ;)

I agree with this. There aren't many corners with the size, speed, and skills to stick with Julio but Jimmy is on that list. I have to admit he has been a revelation this year, after some inconsistent play in previous seasons. I know we talked in the offseason about how he just needs to put it all together, and he has done that and then some. I would say he is comfortably a top 5 CB in the NFL right now.

I don't think much can be taken away from that preseason game either. Not only was it preseason, but at least two of those completions were into zone coverage including the TD where the safety didn't play his zone properly.

Anyone know how the Bears limited Julio today? He just didn't see the same and even had a pass taken from him for an interception

I just found out that Atlanta is 2-4 this season. That's pathetic. So the Ravens will be facing a  lousy team at home while Cincy is still leading the division. This is a game they need to win.

I definitely could as well

Unless he does really well, then I would not be surprised to see more.

Falcons haven't had much success running the ball - half their OL is on IR - but they've gotten explosive plays from their backs on pass. Antone Smith scores a big TD weekly it seems.

The big matchup is the WRs, of course. That's pretty much what the Falcons have built their team on. Jimmy matches well with Julio, imo. Roddy and Douglas can be interchanged with Webb, Franks, etc... just depends on where they line up.

Need a strong pass rush this game because those receivers will make plays, even regardless of the QB performance. Re-watch the Giants vs Falcons game, Julio Jones grabs junk balls left and right.

Offense, stay balanced and if we get the run game rolling we're always good!

Must win especially since we got Cincy (by far our most important game at this point) and Pittsburgh on the road after the Falcons.

Said the same right after Indy game while talking about game against TB..

It's a W.. Just show up and play ball.. More confident at home against ATL then on the road against TB

Look!  I normally don't do this whatsoever in here but after that win today; I'm guzzling the purple Kool-Aid.  Lol!

Ravens 24

Falcons 14

Go Ravens!

Must win? It's not a must win. We should win. We are the superior team in every way, but it's still a game against an NFC team. You never want to lose ground at home but it's not a must win game either.

I agree that we're the superior team, but we still gotta execute. If they perform like they did today, then there's no chance of the Falcons winning it. We'll see though.

Julio got shut down by Rookie Kyle Fuller , who is actually very good obviously , so don't tell me Jimmy can't shut him down.

Ok so how long will Hurst/Urschel will be starting on the left side of the line? We know KO has the potential to be a Pro Bowl LG, while Monroe has always been a good LT. Hurst while he did have a bad game against Indy, has looked really good at LT. Urschel did very well in his very first start.

Thank goodness for Ozzie, our o-line depth is amazing this year. Atlanta wishes they had that kind of O-line depth, if anything we should be pressuring Matty Ice all day. See no reason why we shouldn't.

Everyone knows about Matt Ryan's split personality when it comes to playing in/outside the dome. Here's hoping for a chilly day to keep 'Melting Ice' Matt Ryan nice and cold.

Enjoying the best QB from the 08 draft

Remember how we got robbed when we played them before? I'm still mad about the Roddy White push off on Josh Wilson :229031_rant:

Dude, I STILL remember that push off like it was yesterday! What were the refs looking at?! lol

Atlanta can't play defense and cannot block. That being said they will be desperate. If Ravens come out like they did today they win by 2 touchdowns.

Play like they did today.. And at home..

And it will be embarrassing as it was today..

I actually think our OL was a bit overrated against the Bucs - but in the bigger picture that isn't a bad thing, as I think both Joe and Kubiak called a really nice game and got the ball out of Joe's hands really quickly.

Basically, I'd like to see more of the same. The Falcons' front figures to be worse than what the Bucs had, given they really couldn't stop the Vikings (the Bears game I'll have to take a look at) and their LBs will be ripe for the picking in coverage. At home, I think the line puts up a blinder and we'll be hard to stop. Provided we look to spread the ball around, I don't see how they stop everyone.

Defensively, it's as I alluded to earlier. Have any mix of Jimmy, Webb, Brooks and Hill on Julio on any given snap, focus on flooding the backfield and let Matt Ryan make the mistakes. For all the praise Dean Pees got for the Bucs performance, a lot of that pressure just came from our four- and five-man rushes finally hitting home. And against a dinged-up line that already sucked to start with, I think we can force some mistakes.

If we don't play down to them I really don't see us losing at home. Let's get the win and get ready for the two-game road trip.

Also, I see defensively we're third in the league at conceding points (ie, third best behind the Chargers and Lions). Which I think is a bloody solid effort given we've taken on the Colts (#1 in the league), Bengals and Browns (#9 each). Although the Bucs and Steelers are hopeless, while the Panthers are middle of the road.

If the Ravens win the coin toss, I hope coach accepts the kickoff first. I am not confident in the secondary against quality QB's and would rather not start out already behind in scoring. Also,  I think the team plays better and more relaxed when they're ahead.

If I am not mistaken, both losses had the defense on the field first, and the team down from the start.
