So, to summarize, when fanboards make comparisons between QBs, domes matter.

When people who make comparisons that actually effect things, like MVP awards and HOF awards, domes don't matter.

Therefore, we must as a society 100% discount any QB who plays in a dome, has good weapons to throw to, and plays against worse defenses than somebody else as having an unfair competitive advantage, and thus automatically make them inferior.

SMH...spin, spin, spin.

No you are spinning because you were proven incorrect. No one was talking about Pro Bowls, HoF or anything like that. It was a comparison between these 2 QBs and their statistics and mentioning factors that affect those career statistics. Nothing else.

And those factors do affect their overall statistics as has been proven by the actual statistics. If you'd get off your high horse long enough, you might actually learn something.

Just a few thoughts.

1. We are wearing black, this indicates to me Harbaugh is taking this game seriously, the win percent is high, stacks the odds in favor of keeping the winning streak going, it may slightly confuse the falcons who wear blacks (and did in our last meeting if I'm not mistaken).

2. Joe saying they are not letting up and taking the game seriously is a very positive thing to hear.

3. Yates running the practice squad for the falcons gives me some pause.  I believe that AQ Shipley was what led to our loss to the Colts. However Kubiak built this offense from scratch and Yates said that he recognized some of the plays and he won't have the full offense so this is not like a lineman who has all the calls, but still their defense will be ready for us in terms of practice, but not the actual talent on the field.

As long as we are taking this seriously I think we will be fine, we just can't sleep on the falcons, and we will possibly have another big day again. I look for the Smith brothers law firm to shine again, the RB corps could also have a banner day, the falcons are the best team to start RB against in fantasy football this week...

Completely random thought:

How key was it that in a year the AFC North faces the NFC South, Smith Sr becomes a free agent and Ozzie has the chutzpah to sign him before any other team gets a chance - not just the Steelers who were going to interview him next.

In preseason many folks were just reporting on the Week 4 Panthers match up but Sr has been abusing that divsion for the past 13 seasons.   That's a signing that helps the Ravens potentially win 4 games.

Now we have Atlanta this week and I'm feeling confident as a fan that with Sr here this game is much more winnable than without him.  Then we have the Saints week 12 to finish that part of the schedule.

I don't think the black uniform means anything about how serious we take this game. We always wear black in October, IIRC. We seem to have a history of it. I'm nearly certain on that but I could be wrong.

I agree, that I think it is possible Shipley told some stuff to Pagano and them. It's strange how effective they were against us, and while they are a good team with nice pieces, Shipley was a late cut. That does play a big part in it, though you have to wonder if the coaches recognized the obvious and adjusted accordingly. Therefore, it's a hard sell to just assume Shipley spilled the beans.

this game i really think flacco need to focus on the ravens playmakers i think last game ravens had alot of playmakers thats what joe flacco need to strive for playmakers not just one play maker but multiple nd he need to be focus on his wr but be able to throw the ball away or dig himseld out that whole but dont stay in the pocket that kinda focus for long he can get sacked gotta use his instinct nd if his playmakers not catchin the ball the coaches need to make sure joe flacco on top of his receivers nd making them catch the ball... i think also we need to pay attention to injuries nd penalties but if the other team being dirty ravens defense nd offense dont be scared to be dirty back just make sure its a reallly reallly really good reason bekuz ravens do play close nd professional defense nd offense nd reff be making some terrible calls. and i think on the PR r Kr receivers need to visualize themselves speeding down the middle of the field but in a slow motion fast pace way juke spin cut in nd out but its how the receiver thinking he have to time his near missed moves so he can get missed tackles

Our safeties must be discipline in this game. They can't be staring into the backfield giving up deep passing like a few early games.

I hope we bring the pressure early in this game a set tone for dominating line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Their defense is suspect at best. We just need to run the ball down their throat all day long and dominate time of possession. If Ryan is forced to pass with no run game, we'll terrorize that offensive line. That will be the key to winning imo, I like our chances this week quite a bit.

On the Falcons board they're not even talking about this game, I don't see one game thread. The fans have completely given up and are only talking about how bad they are

Oh crap. Everyone is picking us to win this game. We're going to need a miracle to overcome that jinx.

The falcons might be the only team in the league with dumber luck than us. We got this.

I cringe every time that happens. You could probably make a nice living betting against the "experts" whenever they unanimously pick one team to win.

I could be mistaken but I thought they all picked us to beat Tampa too.

A few didn't.

ESPN.com 12 of 13 picked Ravens. (So 1 picked Tampa)

NFL.com (Elliot Harrison) picked Tampa.

CBSSports.com 6 of 8 picked Ravens (So 2 picked Tampa)

Pete Prisco picked Tampa.

I'm probably more confident than I've been all season about this game. That's not to say I'm underestimating the Falcons, but I just like our chances to win more than any other game thus far. Judging from how they've been treating it, I don't think this is a trap game (that one might end up being @ Pittsburgh or vs. Tennessee... but that comes later...) for us. I predict Flacco has a 3 TD 0 INT game with close to if not over 300 yards, and outplays Ryan. Ravens' D is simply better, and even the Falcons' offense has been struggling lately (especially on the road). With home field advantage and momentum coming into it, I think the Ravens take this one handily. Falcons definitely have their work cut out for them. As for us, a win at the Bank will be huge before leaving to take on division rivals Bengals and Steelers on the road...

Ravens 31, Falcons 17

Bill Barnwell picked the Falcons, but he's a massive Ryan fanboy and Flacco hater so I'm not sure that counts. He's also below .500 on his picks for the year so...

Anyway, I hate this game. The Falcons will be very, VERY desperate. We are better but desperate teams are very dangerous.

Also, here's a fun flashback:

2008_03_10_MATT_RYAN_LARGE.JPG

Assuming that was made in 2008. now its Flacco on the front page and Matt Ryan in obscurity. How bout that.

It's from before the 2008 draft.

This article made me chuckle. It's some guy from Bleacher Report explaining why the Falcons should trade for Arthur Brown. That's not the funny part. Its what we would get in return...a mid to late round pick and [drum roll]...Josh Wilson. Yes its the same Josh Wilson you're thinking. A veteran corner who can't even get on the field for the Falcons terrible defense.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2213474-arthur-brown-is-being-misused-in-baltimore-atlanta-should-trade-for-him

lol, there are so many things wrong with that "article."

My favorite part was in the beginning where they said that Brown looked to be the next Patrick Willis or Luke Kuechly, i mean hay, i love Brown as much as the next guy but no...just no...just completely different players

and its great that he (and more than a few people who commented) thought that that was more than enough to get a second year second round pick that was good enough to start and fix their defensive problems (even though everyone should know that Brown is far from ready to start)

I think he's picking vs the spread.

People still believe in trap games?:rolleyes:

Not at home.

Two things bug me though. Starting two rookies on the left side of the line and our secondary. Matt Ryan could have a monster game if our pass rush doesnt get home.
