And they did in the beginning, but when you're up by 31, you're not going to attack, attack, attack. You're going to do your best to run the clock down

surely even you can admit that first half was our best d performance all year? They had like three first downs.

and it doesn't take a genius to see how the first half was our best half of defense all season, when we were blitzing, sending more than 4 and calling aggressive defense. Yet, Pees comes out all vanilla in every other game.

So our secondary is garbage and we can't call blitzes - that is your argument. Did we just get an entire new secondary for this game?

He is crap.

Doesn't take a genius to realize you don't use the same game plan every week. A weak offensive line is is the green light to blitz, not the strong ones the Ravens faced in prior weeks, not that it matters since the Ravens were up by 31

What I'm saying is they're purposely allowing completions over the middle that chew up the clock

And touchdowns, too?

Don't think Pees will wander up to his press conference and say, 'Yeah, we let them get 300+ yds and 17 pts in the second half with wide open players and no pressure because we were trying to run the clock'

Nope, defense's job is to get the ball to the offense who can run the game clock down. This second half is just more of the same with their lowly TOP per drive statistic.

Did you notice how our corners got bullied this game? Or how fast Glennon got the ball out? The reporters even said that Mike Evans said "I'm open every time" in the first half. Our secondary is garbage and you're just ignorant or oblivious if you can't see that

and the fact he was open and not getting hit is all down to the pressure we got by blitzing. If we didn't, glennon would be hitting him

Haha, a little reminder how it looked with Gino at C... :)

The guy is easily the worst football player I've ever witnessed. No idea what our FO saw in this guy.

So you ARE saying its ok to quit. Man, I wish I could get paid millions of dollars and then just stop working halfway through my work day

You realize these guys are professionals, right?

Aha. And what do you say if Flacco or Steve Smith gets injured and is lost for the season playing in the final minute of a game we're 31 points up?

As I said in another post, that's the offenses' job. The defenses job is to stop the opposing team and get the offense the ball.

Is dean pees your dad or something? Because you act like he is Jesus h christ.

I bet you defended cam cameron when he was here too

No, I just like to think rationally. I blame players when they blow coverages and miss tackles-- which they've done a lot today.

I can, and it got then the lead. If the Ravens wanted to conserve clock and score more, I'm sure they would have gone back to it

It's ignorant to think that defenses don't try to let the other offense kill clock-- when the situation allows. Having actually played football, I can tell you it's a common approach.

You make good points, but there are still a few on here that just don't get it. We dombliterate an opponnent and WIN by 31, no less, AND the sky is still falling.

so can you now admit this d is better with pressure and our conservative games plans don't put us in the best position to succeed?

It's both Pees obviously pulled up the reigns on the pressures and our secondary got exposed.

However, it's definitely not an institutionalized 'hey we'll let them get completions and scores so the game clock runs' plan. I bet if you told Pees or Harbaugh that they'd be stunned.

Those three scoring drives, which brought it within 31 and made it ever so close, took up over 12 minutes. That's eating the clock.

Against a weak offensive line, yes, I can say it was a smart game plan.

The plan isn't to let them score, but if they do, you're still up by nearly 40, so who cares? Like I said, three scoring drives that amounted to 17 points took over 12 minutes, and probably close to 13. That's nearly an entire quarter of the game taken off by the other team's offense. It's a very big plan to let the opposing offense run the clock down.

So this was Pees' second half gameplan? So playing poor defense comes from him?

If you're going to say allowing those 300+ yds and 17 pts was part of his second half adjustments then you can't blame the players, either.

Again, I think if that was suggested to Pees or Harbaugh they'd give you the stink eye. Defenses' job is to stop the opposing offense and get the ball back to your offense - who had been killing in the TOP for the majority of the game.
