If New England Loses Next Week?
Do we bench our guys since we are in if they lose no matter if we win or lose, since we didnt have a bye
If they do lose. Then yes I think it would be beneficial to sit most of our starters. Or if anything play them a quarter or half.

Too bad the Patriots aren't playing on Thursday night, so we could have more advanced warning.

If New England loses and we know it then I say you sit the injured guys. Give the guys a rest if we can.

If not, everyone starts if they can go.

We have to rest guys. If thats the case the guys we absolutely have to rest are Mason, Gaither, Anderson, Lewis, and Washington. Beyond that I think everyone should play and we would still win.

Would that be something that Harbaugh would be waiting to find out? I mean, I wonder if it would be a big deal to him if they lose...as far as who to play and for how long.

They moved the Ravens and the Miami-Jets game to 4. The NFL is thinking if NE loses at 1, then the Jets-Miami game is for the division. If NE wins then they have the Ravens game meaning something.

The NFL, trying to build drama.

We can't sit players, or even contemplate sitting players because of the mindset. We can't have players thinking they might not play and then needing them to play.

Start everyone, no matter what, and pull them after a quarter if we don't need the game.

i dont think thats a good idea. im all for going into the playoffs with momentum and i think history supports that as being the best choice.

Certain guys, like Mason, Reed and Rolle who are playing injured but we need to play most of our starters momentum is to important, not to. Last year the Bucs clenched a playoff spot and benched their starters the last week and ended up losing to the Giants who played all their starters in the last game, with nothing to play for. Same thing with the Colts, they benched all their starters in the last game of the season and they went one and done as well. And everytime that Colts have done that in the past they were one and done in the playoffs. The only year that they didnt do it they won the Superbowl. Last year against us, the Steelers benched most of their starters and they were also one and done in the playoffs. I am sure if you go back far enough, the general trend will be teams that bench players in the last game of the season generally do not farewell in the playoffs. Momentum is THAT important.

i think if Buffalo beats NE (huge IF there) we should see what Haruki Nakamura can do in place of Reed and also see what Barnes and McClain can do. I would also like us to try putting Troy Smith in for the second half and take mason out and tell Clayton that you need to step up and be the number one guy today or there will be a battle for your job next year.
