Tampa has great defensive personnel so that spells bad for the offense.Mike Glennon can sling the ball and I still don't trust out secondary. I had this circled as THE trap game and I suppose I stick by it. We lose another slugfest due to inept road offense.

There you go.  Include the fact that they are pumped after beating the Steelers and want to add another helmut to the win shelf.  If we fall short in the O then these forums will light up next week. I hope for the positive and want a W but do not see a 30-9 score as someone predicted. I think 3 point difference if we are on our game.  Watch, we'll play down to them.

We must don't trust Gillmore as  a  receiver at the moment but they do allow him to come in and block sometimes.

I can't be the only one advocating Jus in the TE position.  There are more of you.  Look one player is not the whole plan.  I just see the strengths we have and we should use what is justifiable. Show a game plan they had not seen in film room vids.

Seeing the hype around here you'd think he'll be the next coming of Ed Reed who'll help Elam's woes and mask our CB issues. Reality is that he's been out of action for half the season and hasn't even been allowed to train with the team yet. I've said before that a huge part of Dallas Clark and Ed Dickson struggling early last season came down to having no preseason meaning they took time to adapt, and we're seeing it again with Webb.

For what it's worth I see no reason to think he won't be a decent player, but there are going to be some epic cobwebs to say the least. But more than that, I'm seeing the bar raised pretty bloody high for him before he even takes a meaningful snap in purple. Forgive me for wanting to wait before hyping him up.

I am sitting at the same table with you

As long as he's better than Stewart, (and I'm sure he will be) the hype is warranted. The ones who aren't excited haven't followed him, I've been follwing him since his Florida day's when he was paired with Elam in college. And they were damn good. Hill has proven himself on the field already. Besides can you blame people for being excited, after seeing the crap we put at Free safety recently?

Honestly, I hope he comes in and does well. And if he lights it up from the get-go, I'll front up and admit I was wrong (which I know for a fact is more than can be said for a lot of people) - and in truth I'm hoping I have to as it'll mean we've found our FS solution for the time being.

But that said, I can't help but think this hype is setting him up to disappoint, at least at first. And it's not even about him being a bad player, but about the production matching what people are expecting. Hope is one thing, but I really think expectations should be tempered a bit until he gets some of game time in.

But onto the game itself, and I think a lot will hinge on how our OL rebounds.

James Hurst got torched after looking so good against Carolina, so with luck we'll see him come out with a point to prove. Michael Johnson awaits (welp), so there's reason to be nervy, but I still think we roll with Hurst and see how he rebounds. Yanda and KO weren't too flash either, but they're both more than good enough to steady the ship themselves - and they'll have to.

Setting up the run early on will be huge, even if we have a few three and outs. Just make them respect the run, slow down the rushers and give Joe a bit of time to do his thing. Weapons are a problem, so I think sharing it around and making everyone a small threat to move the chains (or at least get close) will help spread them out. Get Juzszcyk and Forsett spilling out of the backfield, throw a few more slants to Aiken, throw a couple of screens to Torrey or Jacoby. Hell, even throw Crockett Gillmore the odd pass.

As long as Jimmy is more or less glued to Vincent Jackson on the day, I think we have a good shot. There was a certain degree of him shadowing Reggie Wayne last week, so I think Pees will have that in mind. Lardarius Webb having a game under his belt is huge, and he looked better in the second half so unless he gets banged up in training this week I think he'll have a bigger game.

Prediction: Ravens to win by one or two scores, which means we either get flogged or win in a landslide. I know we have at least one game we'd love to forget every season, but coming off a loss I think this is the kind of game we find a way to win (and Tampa finds a way to Buc it up).

Based on how he played last year, why? He was a complete stud last season on a bad Giants D and Pees had nothing but praise for him during the offseason wishing he was available week one. Debbie Downing at its finest with you. More reason to be hopeful then not.

Because I don't think players just walk off a lengthy suspension, with ZERO practice reps with the team whatsoever, and come out and play 100% of the snaps and play great. I think thats unrealistic for fans to expect that.

His presence as an upgrade (which is not guaranteed by the way) may very well not be felt for several weeks after he returns.

1. If Juice is playing TE, it means he's probably going to be seeing less snaps as lead blocker. So who fills that position?

2. Gilmore is a blocking TE, and that's probably precisely what he was drafted to be. I'm not sure why fans think he's some sort of pass catching beast.

3. If I'm the coaching staff, after what I saw from Indy's blitzes against our O-line (particularly Hurst), I'm certainly not considering sending MORE guys how to catch passes. I'm considering sending less, and having more blockers in.

If I'm Kubiak, I'm having Gilmore on the field more, lined up on the left side primarily, and staying in to block much more in pass protection. Even in an obvious passing situation, you've still got 3 WR/TE options in the passing game, even with 6 blockers and a RB either flexing out or staying in protection.

The difference in the Colts game was that we consistently had five man protections (with occassional help from Forsett) and the Colts consistently sent 5-6 rushers on obvious passing downs. That's not going to work against most teams in the league, regardless of whether they have great pass rushers or not.

That's the exact scenario that happened last year when he had his breakout season.

They have one of the worst defenses in the league

Sounds like he had an exceptional season. It's good to hope but maybe kind of reaching to expect; time will tell.

give more snaps to healthy and young guys like upshaw/mcphee/aiken/marlon .

Upshaw and McPhee have almost the same number of snaps as Doom.

Marlon has seen more snaps in the previous two weeks, and greatly edged out Jacoby against the Colts. Aiken is one I would love to see more of.

I think Aiken is a hidden secret weapon that will emerge quickly.

He is most certainly good enough to be in the rotation for the three spot

I don't see why him and Brown aren't in/targeted more.

We're going to have to start getting more production out of the receiving core, and quickly, seeing as Pitta's done and Daniels is serviceable but no where near as reliable.

I sense you approve Jus for a TE role and Crock for the block schemes alongside Hurst  The 6 rusher detail from opposing Colts or Bucs D sets up dumps to our RBs.  Even Daniels likes Crock as the TE designated for that role. With those two in volved, would that not free up a skinny post for Daniels in that situation.

Bucs seem to be facing a lot of injuries. Including #1 FS and #2 Corner.

Well, we don't HAVE a #1 FS or #2 CB ;)

i agree, he's possessional WR that defenses sleeps on. i think we have talented players , its just they're been underutilized.

No, actually I don't approve of Juice at TE at all. I think he's just fine in the exact role he's in right now. I 100% support giving Gilmore more snaps as an in-line blocker, mostly helping Hurst out.

Keep in mind though that simply having six blockers in for six rushers does in no way guarantee that Flacco doesn't get hit or sacked. Generally speaking, if there are as many rushers as their are protectors, that's an advantage for the defense, not the offense. The Colts were getting to Joe with even five man rushes last week, and we always had at least five in for protection. If they are bringing six, in all likelihood, the RB is going to have to stay in to help chip anyway.
