Official Vent thread vs Indy : who should walk home

I'm just saying that I don't think pass rush is as big a need as you do. I know they haven't gotten sacks, but they've gotten good pressure. I'd much rather have a corner since the Ravens are giving up an inordinate amount of plays over 20 yards

I think it obviously depends on who's there how we address needs in free agency. I honestly think we'll probably be better off signing a veteran CB and drafting a guy in the second or third because I'm not very confident we'll have a shot at a top shelf CB. The free agency pool of CB isn't great, which will likely lead to more teams drafting CB early as a result.

I'm seeing it easier to get a premiere pass rusher more that's a premier CB. Of course I'd go with a premier CB over a good pass rusher but that's a matter of BPA. I don't like our chances of getting a great CB where I expect us to draft but you never know what'll happen with the season so we'll see.

I hate auto correct on my phone.

In free agency, I want Dez Bryant. I'd go all in for him.

But seriously, this draft is very top heavy on pass rusher and it's very likely that three could go top five, and I'd imagine several will go top 10. It's just hard to get a great pass rusher or corner in today's league because of their value in the draft.

Marlon possibly should have done better as well. Actually think flacco had more time than he thought to set his feet out at the touchline but ill not criticise him for that throw.

One Smith slightly under threw, Smith slowed up far to much and in the end almost didn't even get a hand on it.

Torrey simply has to catch that

A better receiver catches that ball unfortunately.   The damn thing was dropped right into his hands.   And that was the second drop from Torrey that series, much less the game.

I don't know what is going on with the receivers and their hands, but it's getting very unnerving.   I knew it was going to be a bad day when Steve Smith coughed up the ball on the first play.    And Marlon Brown not at least diving to make a shot at that downfield throw??   He just stopped when he could have caught that Jacoby Jones style.

I wonder if the addition of the new WR coach is causing issues with guys like Torrey, Marlon, Jones etc. I'm not making excuses, because they need to make the most of their chances and they've had chances but it's strange how Marlon looked good last year and Torrey looked better than he has this year. Not saying he was great but he was better at the very least. Jones certainly looked better.

Now we have a new WR coach and all these guys are struggling except Steve Smith Sr, who's a very savvy veteran who's been around a while. Even Steve had his struggles but not as many. Just a bad Bengals game and then a fumble today.

Certainly not possible to make a judgment on it yet, just something to observe. Could be similar to Juan and the OL last year. Maybe these guys are learning things. I'm not sure. Just grasping at straws probably but it's truly baffling how guys like Torrey have taken a step back.

Bryant won't go anywhere. Jerry won't let him loose. Lol that's a pipe dream but a nice one. I'll be thrilled if we get him though.

Yeah but as you said I think we'll have a good shot at an OLB and I think the value should be better than at CB, but we'll see. To comment on your other post, I'd actually be all for taking Gurley in the late first if we could. I've changed my opinion on that one. He's too dominant.

I'm not that upset that we lost today. The Colts are one of the best teams right now and have a damn good coach. I'm willing to just hope the Ravens get better. That being said, right now, Brooks seems to be clearly out playing Stewart in coverage. I know having a rookie starting FS can be risky, but he will certainly be an upgrade over Stewart, and let Elam play in the box where he belongs.

Also, I really have to question why the hell Steve Smith is the target in the redzone so much? They tried to use a fade route with one of our shortest receivers (if not the shortest). That's just... why? Why would you do that? Crocket Gilmore is 6'6", Marlon Brown is 6'5", and Owen Daniels is 6'3". Why not have one of them do it? They might be able to go up for the ball.

I disagree for a few reasons.

I actually think Marlon has improved. He's using his body better and he looks like a better route runner, but he's just getting on the field less.

Jones is just a few years younger than Steve. No excuse for him. He's just playing bad.

As for Torrey, a new coach won't make him drop passes. Not like he got a new pair of hands over the offseason.

Don't let this team fool you. Nothing is different form last year. Still can't catch or block.

Can't block? We've run the ball at least decently in all five games so far. To say we can't block is just silly.

Hurst was a liability today let alot of pressure come through and line was inconsistent. Pass coverage was struggling but that has been all year so far. More Penalties than usual and stupid one's at that with Suggs offsides twice.

Offense was again boring today, well rested but boring. Not a single unusual formation, screen, overload, nothing but dropped passes. Sr. had 2 drops and a fumble as I recall and Torrey 1 drop. :(

When you lose a game, of course something didn't go right. All things considered, it wasn't that bad. We just need to be smarter on O and cut the penalties. The receivers aren't that reliable but at least they all have their moments. Back to the drawing board. I'm not going to lament a week 5 road squeaker to a good team where both teams had their share of sloppiness.

Not even blaming the refs. That's candy butt. We lost this game because our defense can't cover and the only one who can tackle is Mosley.

Oh yeah, and our WRs bombed today. Cut Jacoby.

We lost this game cause the offense never got off the damn plane and Harbs is getting coaching advice from Ask Madden.

Anyone else hoping that Rex gets the Dennis Allen treatment and he's brought here to give us one of the greatest coaching staffs in the league?

They looked good in the first half (except for the Steve Smith fumble). Unfortunetly the pass rush eventually caught on to Flacco and the whole offense was off for the rest of the game. It's no huge tragedy, though. We barely lost to a playoff team, mostly by beating ourselves. Eugene Monroe can't come back soon enough and the same goes for Will Hill.

We need a serious overhaul of you WR core Torrey isn't reliable

We only have one receiver who has done anything close to being consistent and that steve smith.....the rest of them NOTHING

Agreed. Most insiders didn't pick us to win in the 1st place. They also predicted a 'high' scoring shoot-out (which didn't happen). We could've pulled it out but, no need to lament. In the immortal words of A Rodgers, 'Relax.'. We weren't going to have great games every week and go undefeated for the rest of the season. But, we'll get it together.

So you don't think that's it, not that you disagree because I made it clear it was just a thought. It wasn't a statement, but sort of a question. I also don't think so either but it's so strange how inconsistent our WR are. Just something I'll be watching for this year. I'll be waiting to see if guys get better as the year goes.

Torrey never had great hands but they never seemed this bad. Jones has looked terrible this year. Brown has been a good blocker since he came here. I like his blocking.

Nah...Jones is consistently doing nothing and dropping balls and looking like a liability.

The best thing is how close this game was despite our struggles. That gives me hope. I didn't think we'd win this one but I figured it'd be close. I'm not really upset with this loss. More promising than anything. As crazy as that sounds.

Turnovers lost us the game. Forgot to mention that. Steve, Jacoby, looking at you two. Hell, you too Joe. Don't force passes to Torrey. He won't fight for it.

Torey has went up and caught alot of Flacco passes. He's not doing that anymore?

People are giving up on Torrey a little bit too fast. -_- Next games up: Tampa and Atlanta more than enough opportunity there for Torrey to prove people wrong.

In this sense reminds me of The Cincy game...we were bad at times yet still in the game. However, it does make me question how well our offense operates on the road...
