Official Vent thread vs Indy : who should walk home

490 posts in this topic

Reminded me of the game against the Seahawks a few years ago, lots of stupid mistakes got in the way of a very winnable game.

Wasn't really impressed with the Colts, don't think they will accomplish anything in the post-season.

Turnovers lost us the game. Forgot to mention that. Steve, Jacoby, looking at you two. Hell, you too Joe. Don't force passes to Torrey. He won't fight for it.

That fumble was eerily similar to the Benjamin fumble

Everyone involved in going for it on fourth with this offense needs to walk home.

The receivers not named Steve have had to walk all year so they can keep getting the exercise. This time though, Steve Smith could join them if he'd like to.

Also the defense should walk part of the way because they can't get off the field in crunch time, but of course they weren't terrible so they can ride for part of the trip.

i dont understand that last play. why go for all or nothing?

Smith had his man beat. It was the right call to go to him with how open he was

Neither will we based of what I just watched.

Just take a look at how much time Luck sitting in the pocket and picking off our defense, but our defense were playing so well to defend it with 2ints and 1 fumble.

We need to fix our line badly, and Hurts was playing horribly.  Joe was on and off, and our receivers were dropping balls like butterfingers.  Steve Smith Sr dropping and Torrey not only dropping and running wrong routes or not on same page with Joe.

sadly..suggs is past his prime in the pass rush dept.

Dumervil might be too.

Mcphee is the only guy that generates inside pressure.

that combined with a questionable secondary..its actualy amazing that we keep the scores down as much as we do.

Our O in the redzone sucks can't pick up a yard that's rediculous, many points left off in redzone this year.

The online was poo poo this game.

Jacoby needs to be replaced! Put camp or deonte to do kr.

We need better receivers, both smiths had important drops.

Ugly game overall and still had chance to win. Tampa will not be a cake walk.

yeah but heres the problem with not having torrey next year

pittas career might be over

smith is 35

daniels is 32

who are we going to have next year?

its pretty scary to think actualy :S

That is scary. It gets even worse when you consider that so much of the cap is locked into Pitta and Webb's contracts (and Suggs and Dumervil too, I believe) that they might not be able to address the issue even if they knew how.

I guess it will be the Marlon Brown show.

I think Marlon should see more time. He fights through everything and doesn't ever quit on a play.

Agreed. I want Jacoby on the bench with Marlon and Kamar on the field more.

There's just two problems with that.

1.That suggests that we will be counting on rookies to carry the receiving game and 2. The Ravens draft record really doesn't inspire much confidence.

But they have to hit a home run eventually, right?

I agree too; Marlon and Kamar need to see more playing time....

Flacco didn't play great. He wasn't horrible, but it could have been better. If Marlon makes that deep play on the scramble play, everyone would be singing Flacco's praises, but Flacco still could have played much better. However, for those that are placing any small percentage of blame on him for that last play, you should just never talk about football again. There is no blame on the QB when a receiver is by himself, gets both palms and ten fingers on the ball, and doesn't come down with it. You can't just run down the field and hand it to a guy, and there are very few windows where a ball can be placed and still make it to the receiver. Torrey had his opportunity to step up and make a play this year when it mattered most. He dropped the ball, literally and figuratively. Having said all that, we would have still been down 7 with little time left on the clock. He doesn't get sole blame for the loss, but Torrey deserves complete and total blame for that last play.

You sir deserve a medal. Couldn't have said it better myself. Someone plus one him for me, I'm on my phone and can't.

Flacco will have his ups and downs, today he was meh but the rest of the offense was absolute poo

^THIS!!!!!!!

The offense might be 6th overall in points, but they've got to be bottom of the league in the redzone. Probably doesn't help that Harbaugh likes to keep going for it on 4th down instead kicking the free 3.

I don't feel like Webb, Jackson, or Brown played well. They all had incredibly large cushions (likely due to not being able to play man coverage well) and were too quick to open their hips, which really allowed easy underneath throws. It was really annoying to see the Colts receivers not have anyone within five yards of them.

The pass rush was an absolute joke. Suggs and Dumervil were getting handled by tight ends in single man blocking assignments. They weren't even being doubled. Just a third string tight end doing a fantastic blocking job.

Can't blame the offensive line a ton because of how much the Colts overloaded the Ravens blockers, but Hurst did get beat around the edge quite a bit, but it didn't seem like Kubiak tried to help him out with a chip here or there and he certainly didn't do any favors for the offensive line with any screens.

Overall, a very disappointing day, but I have got to give major props to the defense for at least holding the Colts to just 20 points when they held the ball for damn near 40 minutes. If the TOP were any closer, the Ravens would have won. Just allowed too many time consuming drives with lots of long conversions.

He tried to come back for the ball. I think he did what he could on a busted play. Did you see his tackle on the INT?

DBs are trash and the WRs are garbage.

I disagree with this! the DL wasn't getting pressure for quite a while, and against a QB like Luck it proved to be the undoing. The team as a whole was off today. I give some of the edit to the Colts.

The season is not over!

lol I really wanted to come here to judge the game but I see everyone is extremely mad about this game. take a deep breath and realize that these guys are trying their hardest to make plays but sometimes that's just not good enough and we all know this. so can we all relax and calm down and give these guys a fair analysis

He didn't try to come back. He may have lost track of it, but considering he was trying to move toward it, it just looked like he gave up. it would be a really, really tough play, but just nothing really said he wanted to try to make the tough play.

At first I was thinking the same thing, but when I watch the replay of that one play, even if Marlon had dove out last second for that ball it would've been a extremely tough catch.
