Falcons, 49ers are expected to interview Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. In Atlanta he has familiarity as he knows Scott Pioloi and Dimitroff from their days in New England.

Maybe already addressed somewhere else, but does Jim's exit from SF mean we are gonna put a hold on the planned preseason joint practices with that team from here on out?

Yes.

I hope the Seahawks lose their DC. That'll be a real blow for them.

They lost Gus Bradley after the 2012 season. Bradley was hired for the 2013 season, the year the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. Gus Bradley leaving was supposed to have been a big blow yet Dan Quinn coached one of the best defenses we have seen in years. Maybe Quinn will be a bigger blow for them than Bradley but if he's interviewing for the Jets, he may stay in Seattle. Why go to the circus that is the Jets and risk being fired in a few years. When he can stay in Seattle, wait for a more better opportunity and keep the Seahawks D in SB contention year in, year out.

Yes.

Better Harbs addressed that during presser briefly today. Nothing official but he said that it's safe to say that the preseason trip to SF next year is off the table.

PLEASE let the Falcons hire McDaniels, I will laugh so hard

Lets pray McDaniels coming back to be a HC cuz without him, we didn't have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2010; unfortunately, we had in return with Kindle, Cody, and Dickson...:(

Meanwhile, just south of us, their offense is dysfunctional so:

@JasonHButt: Translation: Fired RT @Redskins: BREAKING: #Redskins and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett have mutually agreed to part ways.

Doug Marrone opted out of his contract. Didn't expect that at all

9-7, great defense just missing a QB and was in the playoff hunt through week 16. I see them promoting Jim Schwartz from DC to HC to replace him. It would allow continuity with the team with a familiar coach and he can still be in charge of the defense.

Totally stunned when I read this. They seemed headed in the right direction. Maybe he wants one of the other jobs that opened.

He saw the QB situation and said "nah."

That's the thing though, with the Bills now having an opening for Head Coach, they now become the best situation for any team out of all the teams who have openings. Jets? Circus. Oakland? You can make a case for them with Carr and Mack, but does anyone want to work for Al's son? San Fran? Fans will run you out of town the minute you bring them a losing season. Chicago? Also a mess.

Going to Buffalo? They already have a solid defense, they are getting Kiko Alonso back from his injury next season, the offense is there(Watkins, Woods, Spiller, Jackson), solid offensive line, the only thing they need is a franchise QB. This is the best job available for any coach.

Well that is interesting

Just saw this on Twitter, wonder if it has anything to do with Bill Polian coming in. La Canfora also has been saying all day that there was growing friction between the FO and Marrone.

So another 49ers situation where the FO wants to run a successful coach out of town?

Bill Polian will be taking over as Bills team president/football czar but move may not be announced til late Jan, due to his commitments

That was fast for Marrone, just minutes after opting out of Buffalo, Schefter is reporting he is now the FAVORITE to become the Jets HC.

There is the surprise move. Ever year there is one. Bills beat reporter says Marrone asked for contract extension. Told no. Asked for contract extensions for assistants. Told no.

Chargers OC Frank Reich, former Bills QB, is the front runner for thre job according to reports.

Marrone is the front runner for the Jets job now according to reports.

We have the 49ers running a good coach out of town, and now Buffalo does the same. Crazy how they didn't extend him as everything was falling in place for them. Now they have to start over with a new system and halt the progress they have made.

Broncos OC Adam Gase is a busy man this weekend. He has interviews scheduled with the Bears, 49ers and Falcons.

Redskins have fired, or to use Jed York's phrase, "mutually" agreed to part ways with Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett.

That is a shocking move for marrone to voluntarily go from Avery good situation in buffalo to a dumpster fire in Ny. Although I could see not wanting to be connected to polian.

Seriously?

And this is a guy who is supposedly getting his team ready for a playoff run?

The cockiness of the Broncos never ceases to amaze me. Thank God for Kubiak's "uh, I'm a little too busy this week."

Yeah but Denver O is run by Manning, anyway.

So never mind about Bill Polian and the Bills. Apparently the deal went south over money and possibly Marrone's exit. It was believed Polian would have wanted Marrone to remain the HC, who Polian said last month that he should be a coach of the year candidate. Apparently new Owner Terry Pegula was doing this behind the back of CEO Russ Brandon.
