Marvin Lewis isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, if Jim's coming to the AFCN it's to Cleveland (which I can't see happening, but would be pretty funny).

You think his going to a division with broncos, kc, chargers?

With perhaps the worst talent pool in nfl? I doubt it.

One upside for raiders is that they got a ton of cap. Seeing how defiantly polar opposite young Davis wants to portray himself as,away from AL Davis 'spend and win', I don't see him spending any money for next year either.

I think the raiders will spend next year, they have tons of cap room because they were in cap hell recently and cut people to get out of it.

This talk of the miners trading him is silly, though.

I still think his best landing spots are Oakland, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Miami and Carolina. Some of those teams have QB and some of them have nice pieces in place. Cap space, location, talent and control are all very important in this decision.

I also doubt Jim wants to face John as frequently as he will in the AFC. That's why I think the NFC is very appealing.

I thought this was pretty interesting, the argument that long-term he's better suited to the college game where he likely won't wear thin with the team before they graduate.

I've heard that argument before but I think Jim will want to win a Super Bowl after coming so close. I don't think college satisfies that desire.

Totally disagree. The 3 other AFCWest would prove to be a nice challenge plus he has building blocks with Carr and Mack.

Marvin Lewis isn't going anywhere.

Why not? 1st rd exits get awful tiresome. Mike Brown could be eager to take that next step.

Totally agree. Usually only coaches that don't suceed go back to college. Harbaugh is not in the same mold as Saban,Petrino and Spurrier.

Well being traded to Oakland doesn't satisfy the desire to win a Super Bowl either. Ian Rapport said Jim can actually decline to be traded and has the power to veto the trade himself. Your right, I think he'll want to win a Super Bowl, and as someone said he could do some damage in Carolina. Carolina is the closest to a Super Bowl contending team out there that SHOULD have an opening at Head Coach. Yeah if Marvin Lewis gets fired, there's Cincy too.

To me I think Jim would only consider a trade to a Super Bowl contender or he takes the Michigan job.

I don't know about that. Oakland keeps him in the area, gives him likely total control over the team with an abundance of cap space to make splashes in free agency and likely select his own GM. They also have a lot of picks and will likely get some compensatory picks, if I am not mistaken. Some nice comps, too. They also could gain more picks by trading down. They have a promising young QB in Carr who fits what Jim likes in a QB. They have some decent pieces on the team, so it's not a total rebuild. I'm not sure they will contend in a year, but I definitely think they could in two years make a push for the playoffs and who knows what happens after that.

I was the one who brought up Carolina. It makes sense to me, of course, but who knows what will actually happen. I think he can dominate the NFC South, though. I also don't know how important it is for him to be in a different conference from John.

Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross has announced that Head Coach Joe Philbin will return for 2015. Though it was interesting that he said, "he has one more year left on his contract and is coming back". Guessing that's pressure Ross is putting on Philbin to make the playoffs next year or he's not going to get an extension.

That's one less opening heading into the off-season.

So now here's the latest.... next Monday, the dreaded Black Monday is when the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh will part ways. Now it doesn't say if there will be a trade, he'll accept the offer from Michigan or not. Though it at least seems Jim may have a choice of where he wants to go if they outright fire him.

Jim's new hiring is the most interesting news for me in the off season.....I can't wait to see the 49whiners go back to the downward spiral.....

Some news out of Chicago & New York before tomorrow's regular season finale. A full house cleaning is expected in Chicago, and not just Trestman and GM Phil Emery. There are reports that Team President Ted Phillips, whose been in that position for 16 years may be canned as a way to blow up the Bears and start over.

 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/27/full-blown-bears-house-cleaning-could-be-coming/

As for the Jets, even a day before the final game Rex Ryan has already cleaned out his office in preparation for black monday. It is also said Charlie Casserly, who the Jets hired as a consultant is talking to candidates for not just Head Coach, but General Manager of the Jets as well.

Both are very interesting. Looks like the #fireidzik movement might work after all.

Good article in USA Today trying to predict who'll end up where. Check their website. I'm feeling to mellow to try to link it.

Almost forgot...one of their projections is Rex to the Falcons.

Here's the link:

Rex Ryan to the Falcons is what I think could happen too, based upon what I wrote earlier in this thread how Blank wanted Rex over Mike Smith but Dimitroff chose Smith instead.

Oh by the way if anyone didn't know by now, I mean nobody would be dumb enough to turn down the money Michigan offered Jim. It is expected Jim Harbaugh will take the big money and coach Michigan next season.

Tom Coughlin appears to be safe no matter the outcome of week 17. The Jets are expected to let go of Rex and GM John Idzik. As for the Raiders, it seems GM Reggie McKenzie is safe as he will have some say in who the next HC is. Tony Sparano will be considered.

Ok here's my shot in the dark at the coaching changes.

No change: giants, rams, bucs, jags, titans, bills, redskins.

Falcons: Rex Ryan

Bears: Todd Bowles

Jets: Brian Kelly

49ers: Jim Mora

Raiders: Jim Harbaugh

A couple longer shots there, but let's see how it plays out.

Hmmm no trade? Maybe he is going to Michigan.

Mike Florio just said with this being a mutual parting of ways, Jim is pretty much clear to go wherever he wants. He won't be traded, so no compensation for him if he were to decide to continue in the NFL even though it is likely he'll go to Michigan.

Florio also said Mike Smith will be fired as the Atlanta Falcons Head Coach tomorrow.

Perfect Meme for Jim and the 49ers. I believe the 49ers are making a mistake and I will always say it's up there with Jerry Jones firing Jimmy Johnson.

If Jim gets fired with that record, nobody has that job....

I think Jim might go to the Falcons if Arthur goes hard on Jim.....

You are right those two and koby and shaq. Idiotic egos getting in the way. As an Ohio state fan I can't decide if I think it's good or bad for Michigan to be very relevant again.

Jim has said he wants to be in the NFL. I know Michigan is offering a lot of money that even I think he shouldn't turn down but it could be a leverage move. I hope Jim somehow stays in the NFL, he deserves it and would be taking a step down going to Michigan. Maybe Oakland, maybe Atlanta, the only thing I know is the NFL is going to be less exciting with Harbs not being a coach somewhere.

We should have tried to get that 6th rounder for Boldin back. I wonder how Jim would have gone as DC or a DB coach. :P
