But do you think Harbs really wants to bet on Cutler?  We also have to take into account Harbs family. If his wife wants to stay on the West Coast, they're going to Oakland

Or he can stay put and wait couple years to coach LA Rams.

Nah.  Jeff Fisher will keep his job. The Rams are only a season or two away from being a good team

Lots of possibilities been thrown out there, but I agree Oakland rumor is pretty strong.

So a new report is coming out that Jay Gruden may be one and done in Washington. A earlier report said Gruden was 'done' with RG3 as the starter. Now the latest is Snyder, and GM Bruce Allen may side with RG3 and fire Gruden.

So RGMe may get a second coach fired, while Snyder continues to baby him. This only confirms what we have known for years, Snyder is the problem not the coaches or team.

Plus with Snyder/Allen babying RGMe, whose going to want to coach the team. They will be this year's Browns where coaches will turn down interviews and they end up settling for the one who is willing to coach under those circumstances.

I have already been doing homework on the Redskins for our off-season GM game and Snyder wouldn't like me since I plan on trading RGMe.

Perhaps Snyder should just trade RGThatwasSo3YearsAgo.

So whose the bright Owners who think Mike Singletary would actually be considered for a Head Coaching job next season? According to Ian Rapport, despite being out of the league for a year, Singletary is expected to get calls for a head coaching job next season.

Apparently Mike Smith's fate has been determined and General Manager Thomas Dimitroff may also be fired in a house cleaning effort in Atlanta. Arthur Blank is also a "fan" of Rex Ryan as he is looking for a tougher team. It also says Blank was very impressed with Rex when he interviewed for their opening, but Dimitroff made the call to hire Smith. With both Smith and Dimitroff possibly gone, it seems Rex's new job maybe as the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

More news regarding San Fran & Harbaugh. It is being said DL Coach Jim Tomsula is the favorite to replace Jim Harbaugh if they find a trade partner. Tomsula did interview with the Vikings for their head coaching vacancy before they hired Mike Zimmer.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/10/tomsula-remains-early-favorite-to-replace-harbaugh/

Something tells me they never learned from Jerry Jones' mistake of firing Jimmy Johnson. Jerry claimed that anyone could win with the roster that JIMMY put together. Granted, Barry Switzer proved it to be true by winning a Super Bowl using Jimmy's team but it seems the 49ers think anyone can have the success Harbaugh is having with their roster.

Maybe the 49ers should remember where they were and how bad they were before Harbaugh got there, do they really want to go back to that?

If Atlanta could get a competent GM that would build the team up front on both sides of the ball I think Rex would be a great fit for that team.

News out of the AFC East......

Joe Philbin could be out in Miami as the Miami Herald reports that today felt like the end for Philbin. It felt like it should be over and quite frankly it could be true. We know Stephen Ross was interested in Jim Harbaugh but Harbaugh wanted to stay in the Bay Area, so maybe the Dolphins go after Jim in a possible trade?

Now THAT'S interesting. I still see Harbaugh going to Oakland though.

I think Harbaugh could do serious damage in North Carolina if he chose to go there. They already have a pretty capable QB and a decent WR with a solid defense. I doubt Rivera gets fired and I'm sure North Carolina isn't as enticing as California or Miami. It is a soft division and I think Harbaugh could dominate it.

Just my two cents though

Jim just might want to go back to school and take the Michigan job. I still like him going to the Raiders, get challenge, but you never know. Job security is a nice thing and some times you can go home again. Well worth watching, especially the "None'ers" realizing Alex Smith was the better fit! IMO.

You know those times you want to fire a Head Coach but you really shouldn't because there isn't a better option? I believe Chicago has learned it's lesson. Marc Trestman is likely to be fired at the end of the season. What's interesting though is will they fire the man whose decision it was to hire Trestman in the first place?

That man being General Manager Phil Emery. Considering how Emery screwed up giving Cutler an undeserving "elite" contract. Also you know what may have been the second biggest blunder made by Emery? Choosing Trestman over Bruce Arians, who is doing mighty fine in Arizona.

If Trestman is fired, then so should Emery.

Agreed. Add Mel Tucker (defensive coordinator) to that list.

Well hopefully he listens to their offer. Apparently Michigan has OFFERED Jim the job of Michigan Head Coach. It would be a deal that pays him $8M over 6 years, which is more than what he is making now and what the 49ers offered for a contract extension.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/17/michigan-reportedly-makes-run-at-jim-harbaugh/

Edit: It is now being said Jim is now considering Michigan's $8M offer. Also Jason LaCanfora says there is "little doubt" that Mark Davis could match or beat Michigan's offer, though he offered DOUBLE of what Michigan is offering Jim to Jon Gruden who turned it down.

Its pretty much been one of the most interesting talk in the past month.  With 49ers sealing the season w/ no playoff hope, Jim is now a hot candidate for NFL/College team to vy for a tremendous coach that knows how to win.

Michigan just offered him 48million/6 year offer (8m p.year avg), which would make him the highest paid coach in college.  The downside would be that he is going back to college.   Can you really compare fiesta bowls/pizza hut bowls to SUPERBOWL?   Especially when the coach knows he has the talent to get a good team to a superbowl?

Any other college team: NONE.   There is no college team that can even sniff Jim at the moment.  The only way another college grabs Jim out from Michigan is with a higher payday.  No college has the size, fanbase, and history/connection that Michigan does with Harbaugh family.

My prediction is that if Harbaugh CAN, he would at the very least look for a NFL team rife with talent that has tremendous history, fanbase and SUPPORT from both players and front office direly looking for a new direction.

#1 team in NFL that might land him would be:

Atlanta Falcons

Upside:With a sub .500 division, rife with talent in many areas, Harbaugh could be a major upgrade to Mike Smith.

Downside:  Putrid defense that needs to be scraped from top to bottom.  Including most of the defensive coaches to FO.  GM is also another headache that has a history of having a terrible track record of drafting defensive players.

#2 team in NFL:

Miami Dolphins.

Upside: Another team loaded with talent that can look for a new direction.  The owner and the fans havent had a playoff season in over a decade.  Joe Philbin looks to be on his way out with another dud season with a 7-7 record.

Downside:  Loaded division that looks to be competitive next year.   Bills, New England has talents to keep dolphins at bay.  Miami is a hard place for drill Sargent to live in.   With virtually all players having access to nightlife and temptation outside of football in the city, it would be hard for a coach to put a focused/strict disciplined team in southside beach.

#3 team in NFL:

Chicago Bears

Upside: Rife with perhaps one of the most historic name and huge fan base, winning a SB in Chicago would make Jim a household name in NFL lore.   Chicago has ton of talent on offense and few talents on defense that a coach can build on.
Downside:  Tough fan base with high expectation, and a competition division with Lions and Packers, it would be the most difficult landing spot to top the division.

#4

49ers:
Upside: went to NFCC 3x with core players.

Downside:  Bridges are burned w/ top brass.

#5-11

Raiders/TB/CIN/Redskins/Ten/Jags/Jets  - Either a circus or impossible.   Slim chance.

What are your thoughts on where Jim would land?

His salary will be more than his older brother John is making right now.

Jim better takes the money and run like hell....

But seriously, Jon Gruden was offered 16mil per year?

You sum it up pretty well..

I think if Jim wants to have a consistent winning record, the Falcons is a good team in a weak division.

If he wants money, he can take Michigan job but that will be lots of headache.

Agreed, if Jim can turn that place around, that would be a great way to stick it to the 49ers just across(well south of now) the bay. Plus he wouldn't have to move which has to be a plus and I am sure the Raiders could match Michigan's offer, heck reportedly they offered Gruden 16 mil per.

You think his going to a division with broncos, kc, chargers?

With perhaps the worst talent pool in nfl? I doubt it.

One upside for raiders is that they got a ton of cap. Seeing how defiantly polar opposite young Davis wants to portray himself as,away from AL Davis 'spend and win', I don't see him spending any money for next year either.

Shouldve happen 10 years ago. But I put Bengals in the 5-11 category, just in case there is a slim chance he does.

Although I like the idea Jim and John being on same division. That awkward brother hug Jim gets from john when they are in the field is 'fun to watch'.

Not sure if Jim wants to be in any more circus media or attention to himself. He is probably fed up with being on the circus enough as it is on 49ers.
