2014-2015 Coaching Carousel

I think it's kind of a shame a team like the Jags didn't end up with Andrew Luck. Back to the Colts being a major power for the next decade.

Hopefully Derek Carr pans out and the Raiders don't lose it with JDR too early.

Well, you must think about JDR's tenure in Jacksonville. It wasn't like he had much to work with, yeah the defense was always there but he was always plagued by a GM not getting a franchise QB. Much like I think Rex's tenure in Buffalo will be better than his tenure in New York, JDR should have a much better tenure as HC in Oakland than Jacksonville He's got 2 building blocks in Mack, and a franchise QB in Carr. Now it's a matter of building the O around Carr and the D around Mack.

To say that 49ers fans are displeased with their new HC would be an understatement...

Hmm, didn't even realize that.  I have accounts on almost every team's forum -_-

No wonder your obsessed with them lol.

So apparently new Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is considering bringing in former Jaguars GM Gene Smith to his front office. According to Schefter, the two are close.

Well, I guess bringing in the guy who drafted a Punter over Russell Wilson works because it so helped the Jaguars, right? If he does that Maccagnan will be fired in 3 years and the Jets will be looking for a new GM all over again. Kinda feel sorry for Bowles for taking their Head Coaching job.

Meh, if he gets upset I hear a Lamborghini can be a really good place to cry.

This is purely speculative, but for all the Dean Pees hate threads (I'm no fan, nor an ardent blamer of his) there never seemed to be an actual possibility for, who the people calling for his job, who to replace him with.  Vic Fangio is apparently an option for the Redskins at DC according to a Washington area reporter.

For those that actually want Pees gone but have no idea who would actually be a viable option as well as an upgrade, Fangio is both.  Add on top that he was a former Ravens LB (I think) coach.  I firmly believe we had Fangio pegged as the new DC after Mattison left but Fangio left for Stanford in 10 with Jim Harbaugh.

Well here's some good ole entertainment for everyone from the folks in 49er land. Let's just say reader discretion is advised.

Bengals blocked their DB coach from interviewing for the Broncos DC position.

Really? Wow. Vance Joseph or Mark Carrier? Carrier's been in the league a long time, including with us from 2006-2009, when Rex was DC. It'd be pretty low of them to do that if he wanted the job.

Joseph

Looked him up, he's got a pretty long assistant coach career, coaching in the NFL since 2005 after playing a decade earlier. Very strange not to give permission if he wants the promotion.

Not to mention kinda classless.

That's what I was getting towards, as well. I guess NFL rules allow it, though.

Damn classless Bungles....

That makes our organization look even better and attractive to all coaches and players around the league...

It's funny that Ravens are so popular to owners, GMs, and players, but nobody to media and fans.....

It's one of those things where Bill Clinton or Tiger Woods didn't break any laws, but it doesn't make them good people. Different situations I know, but the point is that just because something's within the rules doesn't make it the "right" thing to do.

Mind you, it's the kind of thing that'll come back to bite them if they do it too many times.

Yup, I bet other coaches take notice. You know they take notice of our assistants' ascent(s) to head coaches, too.

When has Mike Brown not been classless. Typical Bengal move.

Is it just me or are the 49ers getting turned down outright by coaches for their OC opening?

I think its pretty funny, especially considering after how they ran Jim Harbough out of town the way they did...but really, what's with all of the controversy
