[News] Wide Receiver Deonte Thompson Signed To Practice Squad

Hang in there Deonte.... You'll find your spot. It happens. I remember years ago, I was on a Tournament Softball Team. I found myself in a similar situation; on the field sometimes, and on the bench sometimes... I was a good player... I asked my coach "What the Heck"??? He said... You are 10 and a half on my starting roster.... I said "What the heck does that mean"?... He said, "I know that if I ever need anyone, anywhere, I can plug you in there".... Made me feel better.... It actually took me just one more year to make the starting roster as a 3rd baseman.

He's just a guy that is in between and is earning his stripes.

"It is time to start to draft WRs in the early picks, Steve Smith won't last forever".  He is the only elite receiver on our roster and he is in his 14th year!

I hear ya, Mom! I was, initially, peeved when a new Marine came to Japan and cut into my practice snaps on the team until I realized that I began in much the same way - returning punts and taking practice snaps until the incumbent Back got transferred, then I ran for two years! That was about par for the turnover!

Unfortunately, Deonte can't seem to put all the pieces together at the same time! Therefore, he can't get a solid foundation here!

Don't you think it's time he moved on to see if he can catch on somewhere else?  :th_sneak-1:

I agree.....Deonte is a guy that we should not give up on yet. I have to believe that if all things were equal (no big contracts involved) because of his return skills, Deonte would be given a shot over Jacoby, who is really struggling this year. Unfortunately, because of big contracts, we just can't insert the young guys who seemed to be making great plays like Aiken and Butler over those big contract guys.
