Eugene Monroe to have minor knees surgery out indefinitely

67 posts in this topic

Time for Hurst to prove that matchup with Clowney actually meant something.

That is where my mind went as well lol

Hopefully Monroe recovers soon but also is fully recovered so he doesn't end up reinjuring himself

Yeah, given a choice I'd rather have Monroe wait a bit and come back properly.

3-4 weeks isnt bad, better now then later. plus aside carolina the other 3 teams indy, atl , tb arent that scary up front

Yup besides panthers the other teams have no passrush whatsoever.

to be honest i would be more comfortable with KO moving out to LT until Monroe gets back, rookie UDFA LT is a scary thing, but hey, next man up is what we do, looks like Hurst is getting his opportunity to shine

Monroe was sucking pretty bad, so it only makes sense he was playing hurt.

I have faith in Hurst until he gives me reasons not to have faith in him. I think it speaks volumes that we are choosing to play him at LT instead of throwing Wagner to LT and Reid to RT.

Hurst was a great prospect in college until he got hurt. We'll see what happens but I feel okay about this.

For what it's worth, Hurst earned positive marks in pass blocking from PFF from week two to four and improved every single weak. He was terrible in run blocking. All of this holds true while playing next to Shipley and having Gradkowski make the calls. I have faith he can hold up for the short term, but Monroe is clearly the long term, so get healthy

I like the words you used Have Faith. Next Man Up.

This is the only reason I have faith in the switch.  Out of all the folks they could have put in at LT, they chose Hurst.  There's more to him than what us fans see.

This is great. I'm happy that Monroe is biting the bullet now rather than risking long term injury. We've invested way too much into him for him to be a bust from an injury. New I get to see how my boy looks in real games. We might be able to trade him if he really looks great. At worst you have a very capable backup player. We at least get to know what he can do.

Ravens are going to have to get it done through a TON of adversity this season.  Possibly record-breaking adversity, if there were such a measurement, haha.

More adversity.. what else is new. We're probably going to need a TE on Hurst's side for pass protection, which then takes away from Kubiak using that TE as a weapon.

Let's hope Flacco doesn't get killed during this stretch of games

If Hurst holds up, though, he'll be our steal of the year.

Agreed. They're young on that side of the line, but have been able to get sacks. Our play calling and adjustments should help to neutralize them. With TE support and Kubiak's audible schemes - I think we'll be alright.

Just wishing the best and a speedy recovery for Monroe and 'next man up'.

GO Ravens!!! We got this!

I think we all knew Monroe was dealing with something. He hasn't been himself. But, if we were close to using Hurst last week, it must mean the coaches don't see "hurt Monroe" as a significant upgrade over "healthy Hurst". Get well soon, Eugene!

I never thought I'd ever say this but maybe they should call Buck and see how the Oriole's are pulling it off. I'm sweating this one!

NO EXCUSES!!

Let's go Ravens!  Let's go!

@Mili

Don't find myself saying this often with you, but couldn't agree more brah. No excuses no explanations.

Hopefully Joe keeps solid awareness in the pocket, moves around, and gets it outta there quickly.  Then again Hurst may be solid, in which case we really got a steal, nabbing an undrafted NFL starting-caliber LT.

This.

Have to commend Monroe for hanging tough and getting us through these first three division games. Reports are it's just a minor scope, out a few weeks and come back strong for the homestretch of the season.

Coaches must really like what they've seen from Hurst.

Well this is bad. Smh and the oline has been so good too.

If you remember from last year, losing one

player on the online has a domino effect on the whole line. I'm pretty nervous about this against the Panthers.

In all honesty.. Think we'll be aight.. Oline has been stellar so far overall

And KO may be the best guard in the league judging by these three games alone

If we can make it work until Monroe is back, watch out for this line wow..

As many have said clearly Monroe has been hurting but having him 100% with the way the others have been playing with make this line honestly top 3 in the league

eh, there wasn't much there to begin with last year. Zuttah, KO, Wagner and a healthy Yanda . Plenty of support for young James.

Well, I certainly wouldn't expect Hurst to go out there and dominate in his first ever meaningful football game against one of the better front sevens in football.

That doesn't mean we can't win the game or that its time to panic if he does struggle.

I think it has to do a lot with Hurst has never played a snap against starters and the Browns have a dirty front seven. Given Hurst was just getting used to his leg against actual competition in the preseason, probably not best to put him up a front like the Browns
