Trade(s) needed?

He could hold onto him, but Claiborne is counting for a decent amount against the cap and I'm not sure he is worth more than a 7th round pick at this point. I can see that be a conditional 7th, where we surrender a higher pick if he meets certain conditions. Possibly include a 2016 pick if certain conditions are met. The contract with the poor performance puts him effectively on notice and possibly on the block. I think if Jerry can clear $2.5M for his Pro Bowl WR, he may well consider it to retain that key asset next off-season.

Claiborne counts $4.4M against the cap... not a prohibitive number by any stretch. And they wouldn't save any money in this season by trading him.

That also ignores the fact that he would be about the 5th corner on this team. I'd much rather start Chykie Brown than him. I've seen both play. Brown is better in almost every single aspect of cornerback play right now.

Any trade for Claiborne would be as some kind of developmental type project, and certainly wouldn't help the 2014 Ravens. We are better off saving our draft picks and taking somebody with more talent in next years draft or in FA.

I think it depends on what we'd give up for him. If it's only a 7th round pick that's not that bad..

Just who will you trade for to improve the secondary though? There's not much out there. Who's going to trade us a quality guy at this point? We need a #2 not a #3. That's an expensive trade.

Is Mo Claiborne worth something? I think he pissed JJ off and wore out his welcome...a bust? well Dallas is bottomless pit for talented guys he may be worth something hell throw Jacoby in the fold he hasnt done squat the Deonte couldnt

I doubt they would deal him for that. He's at a premier position, and they gave us basically the exact same pick for Rolando McClain, even when they weren't sure whether he was even going to play.

IF they were interested in shopping him, and I doubt they are, probably in the 4th to 5th round range would make sense.

Well yeah it's all hyperbole. Just fun guessing. He's had a horrible career and I was never personally very impressed by him as it is but you never know. Still, with the recent drama surrounding him, I'm not sure the Cowboys could receive that high of a draft pick. But we'll have to see.

I'd actually love to move Art Brown for Morris Claiborne. Guy is supremely talented physically and I feel that a scheme change could really help his career in general.

Is our defensive scheme really all that different from The Cowboys?

I just feel like the Cowboys tried to fit a square peg in a round hole with him. I feel that our team wouldn't do that nearly as much.

Rather let them stick with McClain and keep playing him so we can turn our conditional pick into a 6th.

They've used him in pretty much every role - man to man, off man, and zone.  All results were terrible, so I'm not sure a scheme change would help anyways.  As you said, the Ravens mix in a lot of different looks from the CB.

They play a Tampa 2 base defense, as far as I know, so lots of zone but they also play man

Eh I'd rather have a 1st round talent than basically a 7th round jus sayin.

From what I recall, over his career (espeically last year) a lot more zone than man (which is an issue in itself for a corner to struggle with, but still).

This is also weird given they have Carr

I'd rather just stick with what we have. Claiborne doesn't seem all that sharp, so I doubt he'd grasp our defensive scheme in time to be an upgrade over who we already have to help us this season.

Similar to how the Ravens have Jimmy, Webb, and Brown but still play zone

It would be cool if we could trade for Eric Ebron as the tight end of the future as I am pretty certain had Pitta not been able to play this season for some reason the Ravens would have traded up to get him in the draft, especially with the reports that he was our number 1 target. Or maybe trade somebody in the secondary for Jace Amaro because with the return of webb we could trade somebody and maybe be okay. These may sound like crazy ideas but we really do need to replace Pitta as many thought he would be the offensive MVP this year with the most catches and he played a major role in Gary kubiak's offense.

Trading for rookies like that is some pretty expensive stuff. I don't see us doing that as much as seeing Juice do more

Yeah I wouldn't be a fan of getting Claiborne unless it was really cheap which I don't see

All this talk about Claiborne is a waste. He will have an MRI but he apparently tore his ACL or MCL in last night's victory over the Saints.

Well, all the talk from those talking about Claiborne were before this past weekends game. Also, he has a torn patellar tendon.
