Trade(s) needed?

51 posts in this topic

It's clear that out team has Many holes as of now. Our offense now only has one consistent catcher(our other receivers can't catch or run routes and Daniels can't separate without a play action play), our defense has a big problem in the secondary and D line. Does anyone see or desire a trade? If so, state it. Keep it reasonable.

We've already gotten rid of our 5th and 6th rounder, so there's not too much that you can do.  Player for player trades are probably done at this juncture.

I don't see who is out there that can make this team better that another team would be willing to trade. Let's evaluate our needs:

FS, CB, DL, TE

FS could be on the roster in Hill. Moore (Broncos), McCourty are free agents next year and you typically trade guys in the final year of their deals if you expect them to walk. That's how we got Monroe. I don't see the Patriots or Broncos trading either guy. They are both contenders.

I can't see any team trading a CB worth their salt to us. CBs are too valuable.

DL only needs depth. No need to trade for that.

TE is important without Pitta but there are free agent options and we have in-house candidates as well. We also have a bevvy of WR so there's not a ton of pressure to make a trade here.

So, with that said, why trade?

It would be cool if we could trade for Eric Ebron as the tight end of the future as I am pretty certain had Pitta not been able to play this season for some reason the Ravens would have traded up to get him in the draft, especially with the reports that he was our number 1 target. Or maybe trade somebody in the secondary for Jace Amaro because with the return of webb we could trade somebody and maybe be okay. These may sound like crazy ideas but we really do need to replace Pitta as many thought he would be the offensive MVP this year with the most catches and he played a major role in Gary kubiak's offense.

We would have to move a 2016 3rd or 4th rounder to get any sort of quality player in return and I'm fine with that (depending on who the player in return is). It won't happen though, I think they've made it quite clear "we like our guys".. I hate to say it but the early success we've had is only pushing us further away from making any significant roster moves and it might be too late in the season when we start dropping these close games like the Browns game that was frankly given away to us on a silver platter.

If the Browns don't have a melt down like only the Browns can then it's a very different atmosphere around here today and people would be calling for a Pees firing and a trade for a db. Everything is jolly and well since we got the W but we have to face the music and realize just how different today would feel if the Browns didn't shoot themselves in the foot over and over in the final 5 minutes. We won't get that lucky again and I hope the team/coaches realize that.

I just can't imagine a major trade right now. Could we use a quality corner with Webb's injury lingering on.......yes. Do teams trade them away.......no. Will Hill will be back in 3 more games to help with our secondary troubles. At TE we will be ok with Daniels and Crockett. Injuries are part of the game, next man up. I am just glad our o-line guys are staying healthy.

I'm just not sure there is anyone really out there to fit our needs worth giving up a draft pick (which you'd have to do at this point). Not sure there is even someone in FA right now.

We might have to live & die by Gilmore & Daniels, give Brooks a chance and hope Hill gets his suspension reduced and hope those D lineman can get healthy.

Just who will you trade for to improve the secondary though? There's not much out there. Who's going to trade us a quality guy at this point? We need a #2 not a #3. That's an expensive trade.

We definitely can't afford to lose depth at CB, with or without Webb. To get Ebron we'd have to give up way too much, awful idea. We'd have to give up a 1st rounder + multiple other picks and/or a player, we can't afford that and Ozzy would never make any trade like that, our FO isnt the kind that would give up our entire team for a single player, especially one that has question marks as rookie. Same can be said for Amaro, you can go ahead and forget a high profile trade like that, we can't afford that and it would be flat out stupid to clean house for a young unproven TE of all positions.

Daniels will get the start with Gilmore as the second option and we'll be fine, this situation isn't remotely like the situation we were in last year, Daniels knows this offense and has been with the team since the offseason unlike Dallas Clark who was a late signing, Daniels can still get it done

I don't see any trades, we simply don't have the ammo for it or a big enough need to take any sort of chance like that. Next week Webb should be ready to go, that'll help our secondary woes substantially, Elam had a bad game - thats it, people need to stop overreacting over 1 single bad game, he's fine - hes a second year player, mistakes happen,  Hopefully we can get Hill back before next week but theres little we can do there - FS is an obvious need but we have Hill in house who will take that spot, a trade isnt going to happen there. Theres no reason to trade for Dline depth, guys can be signed off the market for simple depth. Daniels and Gilmore will get the start next week, this isnt even remotely like the situation last year, Daniels knows this offense and has been with the team since the offseason unlike Clark who was a late signing right before the season, and he has at least shown that he can still catch tough balls in traffic, Gilmore needs the playing time, we'll be fine at TE, no need to trade for a #1 TE, in todays NFL TEs are too valuable, we can't afford to trade for a guy good enough to start without sacrificing another position, which would just be a bad move. The RB situation is solid, LT showed he can get it done, we'll get Pierce back next week and he has the ability to get it done, Forsett also has shown flashes and catches out of the backfield, no need for a trade there either. I don't know any hole on our team worth trading for, all are minor holes to be honest, and some can and will be fixed in house, "next man up" is how our team works, we are about to see that philosophy in full effect

I'd be surprised if Hill gets a reduction at this point. Just 2 more weeks

In two weeks he will get his reduction .....

If you want, we could trade for 1st round bust CB Morris Claiborne and see if we can help turn around his career after failing miserably in Dallas. He was benched and is apparently furious. Lol

Can't see a trade now. Like others have posted it's a little to late and we don't want to start giving up high round picks. You may be able to steal some one off a teams practice squad but I'm sure the F.O. has looked at this. Go with what we got and make adjustments to the offense to better utilize the players we have now.

Depending on what Jerry is asking i would do this in a heartbeat. I may be still enamoured by what i saw in college but he has talent and a change of scenery may be all he needs. I would do a 2015 pick, preferably a 5th or later

Well your only option there would be a 7th, being that our 5th was traded for Zuttah and the 6th for the pick to get Campanaro.  Not sure how it works with conditionals, but we do have 1 of our 2 7ths tied up with the Cowboys already in the McClain trade.

I'm sure his phone is ringing. A shame we don't have a lot to trade on the defensive side of the ball. I would definitely make the trade for Claiborne. I mean, you may be able to revitalize his career if you can get him here. Perhaps Dallas isn't for him. Him and Jimmy could be a great pair, but that really depends. The question is whether it's Claiborne or the coaches. He has been strangely terrible since he was drafted.

He look like Chykie Brown when he got burned bad by Brian Quick. I'm not trying to make fun of  Brown but Claiborne definitely has upside but it sees like the same issues Brown has is same with Claiborne but he may be a better tackler.

well that clears that idea--His value is likely shot with this incident so maybe a 2016 pick would be in the cards. Not exactly sure what his value is and what Ozzie may be willing to give but someone I would want us to consider, I was just looking at his contract on Roto, looks like he has one year left after this one and a decent chunk of money (2.5 base, 2.5 signing bonus)--might change trade thoughts for Jerry and the thought of holding him for another year be more enticing...he does love potential

I am a big believer in coaching being a huge facet of development...I do think he was on the short end of a carousel in Dallas

He could hold onto him, but Claiborne is counting for a decent amount against the cap and I'm not sure he is worth more than a 7th round pick at this point. I can see that be a conditional 7th, where we surrender a higher pick if he meets certain conditions. Possibly include a 2016 pick if certain conditions are met. The contract with the poor performance puts him effectively on notice and possibly on the block. I think if Jerry can clear $2.5M for his Pro Bowl WR, he may well consider it to retain that key asset next off-season.

Art Brown for Mo Claiborne would be a pretty fair trade for both sides ... Mo is still young, his injury history is concerning but I feel he'd play better in our defense.

I'd rather do Claiborne for Daryl Smith

So would I but I was trying to consider comparable age/salary. In that sense its a logical trade for both sides and a fresh start for each guy.
