Week 3 Discussion (Other Teams)

Then again, he was handed a pretty terrible roster overall.

I'm sorry, but like I told Grim, I cannot feel bad for them with how much they invested in their team in free agency and in the draft in terms of weapons for McCown.

They go out and get McCown, Anthony Collins, Evan Dietrich-Smith, Michael Johnson, and Alteraun Verner in free agency, trade for Logan Mankins, and drafted Austin Sefarian-Jenkins and Mike Evans. That's a massive influx of talent coming onto the roster. There are no excuses for play this poor.

Think so? I wouldn't be surprised if some crazy QB became the top guy. Not saying they will, but it can happen. I think Mannion from Oregon State fits what Lovie likes from his QB a bit more than Mariota, but I can see Mariota to the Buccaneers for sure.

I actually haven't done a whole lot of work with looking into the draft yet, but Mariota is a favorite of mine since he plays for Oregon. I think he's just a really great all around quarterback. Honestly, wouldn't shock me to see the Bucs trade the number one overall pick and grab someone like Cooper and give Glennon a chance.

Yeah. I agree. The team is really under-performing. Also, Collins hasn't looked that great. To be fair, though, those are many new pieces into the team. It's not easy to adjust and gain chemistry with that many new parts. They could be a team that heats up at the end of the year when it's too late.

I think if Smith intended on giving Glennon a chance, he would have played already. That's just what I think, but I can be wrong. Doesn't mean much if a guy sits on the bench, but this veteran QB looks bad and it isn't all his fault. Some mistakes are on his WR, some on the OL. And then, quite a bit of it falls on him.

They were my pick for the #1 overall. At this rate, they look like they will earn it. It wouldn't be all that bad. They could take a great QB with that pick and actually contend. They are also without McCoy, and he is a key cog in that defense.

No wonder why Greg Schiano and Raheem Morris failed. Whoever was the GM when they were coaching did a terrible job putting together a competitive 53 man roster. Poor Lovie Smith.

Giants vs Buccaneers, battle for the first overall pick.

I mean, no, I'm not expecting a 12, 13 team win, but to lose to two backup quarterbacks? That's an issue

This was probably a team that thought they could win with McCown because of their big targets and how it's similar to the Bears. It's only two games in, so you can't exactly give up on McCown just yet because as you said in your other post, they could heat up. Just a few more losses and I'd expect Glennon in there over McCown

Well, to be fair, their entire draft was offense. The entire draft. That's why I dislike imbalanced drafts, but that's a different discussion. This Buccaneers team is just playing really bad. A shame, really, because they have talent.

But they already had a lot invested in defense from prior drafts and in free agency. Verner and Johnson in this year's free agency, Goldson last year (right?), David and Barron in recent drafts. I don't blame them for going offensive heavy to surround McCown with some weapons.

Yeah. It's too early to tell with this team. The Buccaneers can turn it around. There was a reason I chose them as the worst team, though. Dotson is the only remaining starter from 2013 on that OL. Not sure if the RG was a starter last year. But you have a new center, LG, and a LT at the very least. That's 3/5ths of your OL! Look at us last year as an example of how much turnover on an OL can do. Then you have a new QB as well and that's a recipe for disaster.

Falcons should seriously consider benching Ryan before he gets hurt.

I assume Ryan, Julio, and S-Jax will be done at the half on offense.
