Vikingsmessageboard.com shuts down

7 posts in this topic

The fans in Minnesota have officially turned on the Vikings over the Adrian Peterson case.  Even with all the Ray Rice stuff heating back up its good to see that our fan base is still level-headed enough to avoid this.  As similar in as these cases are the public is entitled to their opinions.  However the Vikings may have had a hand in stirring this pot.

Well, we might not have forced the message board to shut down but I do believe we crashed it for a time when that Rice video first came out. :)

I"ve turned on the Vikings as well though - now there is a report that he abused another of his children in June. Complete with pics too.

Sorry, what Rice did was reprehensible - but beating a child like in the provided pics is far far far far worse and they should at the very least have the man deactivated until it sorts out.

One, that's not the official Viking's forum. Secondly:

Yahoo Sports' comments remain open below, and we are certain that you will offer insightful, measured responses to both this and the Adrian Peterson story as a whole.

At least the Ravens did the right thing when the video was released and unanimously immediately cut Rice. The Vikings only deactivated AP for one game then reinstated him. Only after Raddison Hotels pulls out and Anheuser Busch, Visa, Campbell, and McDonalds threaten to pull out, that the Vikings caved last night about 2am.  I understand why they did not cut him, because some team would have signed him, but it was stupid not to indefinitely suspend him immediately. Talk about the way NOT to handle a bad situation.

I think they tried to activate him as to let him play until a final decision is made on his case. The problem was hearing about another abuse case just one year earlier on another child. That makes this a serial abuser potentially. That's why the swift action. If the Vikings had placed him on this list the first time it wouldn't have been so much backlash. All Minnesota tried to do was give their player who they know the benefit of the doubt until his case is heard. We did the same for Rice until we saw the video. If a video emerges of AP the same action will happen to him. I don't think he's a bad guy or an abuser but he's too strong to discipline his children the way he was as a child. He has to learn another way.
