Broncos Fans Want Phil Simms Banned

39 posts in this topic

I used to think Ravens fans had the market for perceived bias cornered - but then I saw 49ers fans complaining that ESPN hates them.

The persecution complex runs deep within every fan base.

Or, Bronco fans have become used to the sports media drooling over them and the refs bending backwards to accommodate them since Peyton came to town that anyone who dare question their greatness and rightness with the Universe is considered biased.

Just offering up another option :)

Let's ban the entire media.

Oh I thought they wanted him gone because he's a terrible color commentator.

I want him gone because I already have to hear him in Madden constantly saying the same things over and over. When I hear him in a live game, I'm like, "NO MORE."

Awww, how sad.....

I hope CBS responds by giving them two color guys in Dan Fouts and Phil Simms for both Charger-Bronco games. That would be lovely. :)

Gee Denver ... sorry someone out there doesn't like you. I'm quite sure there are a few announcers and analysts out there that aren't exactly fond of the Ravens.

Actually, there are times when I believe the entire institution that is ESPN hates us. My favorite example was last year against Detroit on Monday night ... when Webb got away with an arm bar, Gruden launched into a tirade that was followed instantly by a montage of "bad calls" that went in favor of the Ravens. The only way that was possible was if someone at the network planned in advance to put together a film, wait for the first questionable call that went in favor of the Ravens and then queue the tape.

Really? I never knew that we're the only team that ever had bad calls go their way (and BTW, not all of what they showed were actually bad calls ...) They could have done this with any of the 32 teams in the league, but I've never seen that done for any other team on any other network. It literally blew my mind.

If we could exile Skip Bayless to a deserted island that would make my year.

Naked and Afraid? Send him, alone!

That "honor" might belong to the 49ers.

You would think the 49ers were the ones to do it when you see the headline although Denver fans sure are close. But hey if they want to mess this up, they can go right ahead.

FYI. Broncos have won 10 straight with Nantz-Simms in the booth. You wanna mess with that mojo?

Oh my god that guy's color commentating is some of the worst. His commentating in that 4th&29 game has got to be some of the worst commentating I've heard in my entire life.

Too cruel to even wish upon your worst enemies?

I agree my saying the "entire institution" was a bit far reaching. While I have felt that many in our fan base over-blow the "us against the world" sentiment, when I saw that Monday night game last year against the Lions it blew my mind.

If you wish to insult me by telling me I "sound ridiculous", then please, tell me have you ever seen any broadcast where they queued up a sequence of "bad calls" to show the audience the moment a bad call was made on a specific team? If so tell me when. If not, then isn't that a clear case of someone involved in the planning of the broadcast having a negative bias?

You can try to make me out to be a conspiracy theory whack job if you like, but if you don't think that the media has its darling teams then I'd say you are being more than a bit naive.

P.S. "que" isn't a word ..

I am not sold on the whole ESPN hates us bit at all. Sure there are some people there that are worse than others(Skip Bayless anyone?) but they hired Ray Lewis and Trent Dilfer to their MNF crew and Chris Berman just picked us to go to the Super Bowl. Heck Rick Reiley posted an article a few months back about how his opinion on Lewis changed completely now that he got to know him better, it is a pretty cool piece if you have time to read it.

And Ron Jaworski really likes Joe Flacco. The "media hates us" line is pretty ridiculous.

(Also, I can't believe a thread laughing at the Broncos fans for feeling persecuted by the media led to Ravens fans complaining about feeling persecuted by the media)

Why not? Broncos fans are delusional if they think anybody in the media hates their team. We, on the other hand, have a legitimate claim and they better get off our turf!

Simms likes Joe, which is still pretty rare around the league, but as an announcer...he seems constantly confused. Still better, than Fouts, though. His commenting just sounds whiney (maybe that's just me). I do actually find Dierdorfs commenting fairly insightful and think, that Mayock is alright, whenever he stops talking about how "special" everyone on the field is -_-. It gets old.
