Updated: Will Hill Reinstated & Activated

262 posts in this topic

Just because he can't practice doesn't mean he hasn't been studying the playbook or working out.  Midseason practices are like walk throughs anyway, I think he should see snaps immediately.  Maybe not start but def on the field week 7.

He probably see's snaps in week 7, but it will probably be an extremely limited amount of them.

Knowing the playbook and all is one thing... being in game shape is another. There's just no conditiioning or workouts he can do that will simulate the speed of a game while he is suspended.

Like most, I think week 8 against Cincinnati is the ideal spot where Hill becomes a big time factor.

This guy is the closest thing we have to a coverage safety even though he is a bit of a hybrid safety. we need a coverage safety bad.

Dont we all? Or is it that Elam blows at FS so bad and would excel as SS so much?

I would put trawick or miles at fs and put elam on the bench they cant do anny worse

listening to 105.7 this morning, when vinny cerrato said "will hill comes back after week 6, and that wont be as much help as many seem to think, the ravens already have 2 strong safeties and hill is a strong safety and a thumper, he cant cover any better than elam or stewart"

REALLY VINNY? skip town please

Does any one think its likely Will Hill will be on the field week seven?

I swear he's been practicing with the team... unless that was only preseason? he wore #48 and was in on some practice videos. I also heard or read somewhere that he's been working with the Ravens and studying the play book. Not sure if he'll be starting... But I'd assume they'd work him in on week 7 against the Falcons. Guess we have to just wait 2 more weeks and see what happens...

I was listening to 105.7 The Fan, and Jason LaCanfora said the suspension is 8 games.  Everywhere else says 6 so IDK.

He could be wrong. Might have been a mistake.

Will Hill is eligible to play on Sunday against the Falcons.  A roster move would need to be made and you have the obvious question of whether or not he is in game shape.  He'll be on the roster.  The question is who goes and to what capacity Hill will be in immediately.

Considering the way we currently rotate snaps I could easily see Will Hill getting 5+ snaps.

What makes you wonder that outside of his game day inactive status every game this year? I doubt they would cut a former second round pick that soon.

all the safteys get used in special teams. If they cut one, who replaces said player? Id expect them to cut someone that has never been active.

Ummmm Will Hill replaces one of them on ST. That's a good way to get him conditioning and to see what his tackling/instincts looks like.

Yeah good point but I can't see it. I'd be really surprised but you never know. If I had to guess it'll be Franks, Reid, one of the DL or S we have since we did have Hill playing on ST during the preseason.

I don't think it makes sense to not cut a safety to make room for Hill. We have, what, six safeties on the roster? Why on earth would we cut from anther position group to carry a seventh safety? We oughta cut one, probably Trawick or Miles, to make room for Hill.

I agree that safety is the likeliest course of action. Not sure who. It could be any of Miles, Levine or Trawick.

has he played before? You can't just throw anyone in. Look at huff, he cost us that pitsburgh game with poor special teams.

Miles and Trawick have both been great on special teams this season, and they've also done well in their few defensive snaps. I think Miles is safe. Both Trawick and Levine showed in the preseason that they could be a last resort fill in at corner. However, Trawick, to me, has shown more versatility and ability. Plus, Levine has been here longer and has failed to take advantage of the many opportunities given to him. Maybe it's time to let Levine go.

I say cut Levine for Hill.

I can't find anything to prove this but I believe he started on Special teams as a rookie

Arnie...Will Hill is a "football player", I'm sure he can play on ST.  Plus as someone stated above, he played ST in pre-season games.  He'll be fine.

Keep in consideration that Cody along w/ Hill are both eligible to come back this week.  So we could possibly see a DL and a S cut today or tomorrow.

i bet you said that about huff as well, until he vacated his lane and pitts got 70 odd yard kick return and kick a game winning field goal.

Huff is NO Will Hill.  Plus you can't blame that loss on Huff.  You can never blame a loss on just one player. A bad play at the begining of the game can impact the outcome like a bad play at the end of the game.

Huff failed at STs because he fears contact. Hill embraces contact. Also, as others mentioned, he has played on STs before.

However, I don't think he'll play STs for us. I think he'll take the starting job at FS and run with it in about two weeks time.

Where this leaves Brooks concerns me though. I have high hopes for Brooks but it'd be hard to get him on the field with Hill being active. Perhaps we convert Brooks back to nickel corner. He's played well as the nickel/dime in the few times he's lined up there for us, and he may prove a better option as the third corner than Franks has.
