CJ Freakin' Mosley

I rarely make a thread. This kid deserves his own thread after what he did last night (along with his outstanding camp/preseason)

Go re-watch the game now that the nerves are gone and just watch how this kid runs sideline to sideline and makes plays. You can see his football IQ in action, you can see his instincts, you can see his speed and athleticism, you can see the game slowing down for him, you can see his versatility in coverage, you can see he loves the game and loves making big plays like watching his reaction after the forced fumble/recovery.

It's been a while since we hit a home run in the draft, I think we've done just that. It's refreshing as a fan to have a young player with serious star potential on the team again!

The kid's a monster.  His football IQ is staggering.  What a welcome addition, and I'm thrilled to have Smith mentoring him.

Future PRO-Bowler right there.

Mosely and Jernigan have both been great so far this year.  Mosely looks like a centerpiece to build around for the next decade.

Also, Brandon Williams looks extremely stout as our NT.  It has been a long time (since Kelly Gregg) that we have had a really good NT.  All those years of Cody and his counterparts were awful, and it's good to have a guy like Williams nowadays.  Overall, our entire defense looks better than it has in a very long time.

I said all along will be a good player but i was concerned about injuries and lack of corner depth so he wasn't my preference. But if he keeps playing like this he will be great

He's a legit DROY candidate with Clowney now missing a few weeks. Just gotta stay healthy and keep this up.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say he's the best pro defender out of Alabama in some time. Thrilled to have his jersey number on the way.

Mosley is a freak of nature. Extremely intelligent, and flashes that Ray Lewis sideline-to-sideline ability, while also possessing a knack for making big plays, like the forced fumble/fumble recovery last night. I'm glad that he gets to actually have a mentor in Daryl Smith who is showing him the ropes, instead of forcing him to be "the guy" right away. An example of his intelligence can be seen by him not trying to blow up Bell when he went airborne. Too many times, I see a guy go airborne and the defenders try to knock his block off, only for them to completely whiff and allow the dude to run for more yardage. Props to Mosley for not falling victim to this.

Also, a huge shout-out to the D-Line. This is Ravens football in action. Jernigan looks like the real deal, getting pressure on the QB, while Williams routinely collapses the pocket, forcing the qb to be on the run. They also have been able to stop the runs that gave them trouble last year, although we do need to get better at outside runs/reverses.

By the way, anyone notice Ngata actually looks great now that he's healthier and in shape?? I think that also has to do with the fact that he's not seeing triple teams anymore with our D-Lines resurgence.

I'd also like to add something about Williams. The dude is an absolute beast. Though he may not show up in the stats, his physical dominance is evident. I just looked back at Mosley's forced fumble, and I saw Williams right in the face of the Fat Burger. That was exciting to see, someone from the middle of the d-line getting pressure.

Go D-Line! With youth and speed the D-Line will be fun to watch this season. And don't forget McPhee and Tyson. There is some heft on the line that other teams will have trouble with in each and every game.

He's been incredibly productive for a rookie and will only get better. Shame he wasn't credited with the FF. Personally I thought it was Mosely that knocked it out.

Who was credited with it?

Has shown flashes of excellence so far. What's scary is he's only gonna get better. Will definitely be in the running for DROY.

I love Ozzie Newsome. I also already love this kid, who is a monster! I think he'll be an outstanding player for us for years to come

I was so happy for him with the job he put in last night. What a confidence booster for him. National spotlight, Steelers, etcetera. That will do wonders for a young player.

Like many of us, who've seen what Ben can do late in a game, I was still anxious when they took possession down 2 TDs, but with enough time left in the 4th quarter to  mount a comeback. I was preparing myself for a TD drive that would put them back in the game.

Nope ... first play of that possession and game over.

CJ's hit last night was the dagger.

Love the guy. He doesn't always know where he's going yet, but he's always going full speed. He's fast and physical. Once he fully gets the mental game, we have a special player here.

He's definitely making a case for DROY thus far. If he keeps showing up in primetime he'll be up there in consideration. So nice to have a YOUNG stud talent on defense again.

EDIT: I think Elam is a stud too, but Mosley is doing it from Day 1.

Elam did an excellent job last night playing in coverage when he had to. He also timed his blitzes pretty well!

Yeah I love the guy. he's geting a little better every game. that strip of Heath Miller was great. Also Elam is starting to make more and more plays. He's finally playing loose and free. Jernigan, Williams, and Tyson also look great up front. I can't wait until we get Brooks on the field to see what he can do.
