Maybe but there were a few occasions where he flat out missed a wide open receiver.

maybe, but to me, he just looked nervous all night.

So we keep Marlon Brown on the roster but not throw him the ball. It hink we should at least put him in on redzone situations just to give the defense something to think about. Also we could try to put Taliafero out there to see if he can get the 1 or 2 yards when we get that close to the goal line. My comments are in no way venting just said to maybe help us improve a little in the redzone.

Our defense looked amazing considering we were down a 2 cb's that game. Our offensive line is a complete 180 from last year. We get some real good push from Zuttah. I started laughing at the beginning of the game when he made a big push off the line to get us a first down and the analyst mentioned that if you don't have a good center it just dooms the entire line. I thought that was one of our biggest problems last year was no push up front. Glad to see this team respond this well. We should've won last week but we made more mistakes than our opponent so hopefuy the next time we see them it'll go our way. l think teams will slowly stop trying screens and reverses on us as we're starting to get much better at stopping them for short gains.

That was a Dean Pees clinic. Bend-but-don't-break defense works pretty well when you're doing the most important thing: generating turnovers. Those many-play, clock-eating drives will wear a defense out and keep the offense off the field unless the defense finds a way to stop them. Turnovers are most effective and we had 3 last night, awesome to see. We got lucky with some bad passes but it was good defense.

We're still getting worked on screens, reverses, and end-arounds. All of those indicate that opposing OCs are seeing a flaw in team speed or allignment outside that they feel they can attack. Now, I think our team is pretty fast so imo it's allignment. Pees needs to adjust his calls or the Ravens on the field need to be more aware of it.

Dumervil was doing his job well. His sacks were borderline "coverage sacks" but, on his 2nd one, he bowled over Marcus Gilbert (the Steelers new $30M RT LOL). Those were big and stalled a drive. Also, Upshaw may have earned a PF on the first sack of Ben but you can't tell me Roethlisberger wasn't thinking about that the rest of the game. The dude left his feet, that's a huge hit.

Running game had some lapses but I was impressed, I think we ended with ~170yds overall and we seemed to get better as the game wore on. Biggest complaint of the game was that we weren't able to punch it in on the goal-line. We have to! When you get those oppourtunities on the 1, you have to score to win games.

Passing game was sharp and efficient. Not too many downfield passes and a lot of catches by the backs but that's the kind of game this was. Daniels asserted himself, making those tough catches in traffic. Smith Sr and Pitta as well - Steve Smith is the kind of player our offense has never had (yes, that includes Boldin). Torrey dropped a pass and was invisible most of the night.

Flacco was sharp and tough, he earned his player of the game honor.

ST was nice, too. Tucker made all of his FGs and kicked touchbacks for every kickoff except 1, which was stopped around the 15, I believe. Jacoby had some nice punt returns and our coverage was strong. Although when Polamalu decides to be cute and jump over the line, I'd love to see Cox stand up and make Troy re-consider whether it's worth it again lol.

Jimmy Smith was outstanding last night, tough coverage and physical play. The play where he stood up his blocker and made a tackle on the outside was excellent, that's what the top players in this league have to do. Asa got concussed but before had been okay. Chykie didn't play well again, played off most of the night but missed his tackles anyways. Elam missed some tackles he should make, had some other solid plays though. Stewart, outside of the big hit on Brown, was invisible. The team played a lot of Jeromy Miles, too, even before Asa went out.

He even admitted thats the hardest hit he has ever took.

Blindsided and dropped

And that hit would even be legal in today's league.. Textbook

Yeah, Goodell got what he wanted. Its a soft, soft league now!

I found it comical (well, actually I should say I found it sad), but at a point last night they were showing plays from earlier in the game to illustrate what an awesome physical brand of football these two teams play when they face each other and how great it is to watch.

Unfortunately 3 or 4 of the 8 plays they showed to illustrate that were illegal.

I am SO glad that CBS/NFL Network covered this game. There was mercifully little talk about Rice.Had this been an ESPN broadcast - the worldwide leader in (tabloid) sports, it would have been unbearable.

The best part of the commentary was when Boomer opened the broadcast and threw in a nice little jab at ESPN for their role in sensationalizing this incident.

Le'Veon Bell is going to be such a pain now and in the future.

Great team win though.  That's what I like to see.  Not one player did anything glaringly wrong tonight.

I dont think so really..it looked like when he snapped off one the attempted tackling technique was poor on the part of Mosely and Elam. Plus the coverages were playing soft so it opened up some RAC yardage

Sportscenter sucks!  "Yeah the Ravens win but the play of the game was Bell's 21 yard run." What??? How about Forsett's 41 yard run???

Morning gents/gals! I just woke up! What a great day it is! Our boys just BEAT DOWN the steelers last night. Wooooooo! While the team played a whole lot better than Sunday, they still have work to do on offense. They got to start punching the ball in the endzone on the ground when they are near the goaline. I feel that Torrey has to be targeted a lot more! Marlon needs to be included as well!

1. I told all of you people this in the preseason... Brown and Jacoby are simply not going to big parts of this offense. While I agree he could be used more in the red zone, other teams know that as well. When you see a big guy come in the game who has been sitting on the sideline for most of the game, its going to draw attention from defensive coaches. He just doesn't figure to have a major role on offense this season.

2. I agree that Taliaferro should get some looks at the goal line, but I'm wondering if its a trust issue with Harbaugh. We will see if that changes.

Two biggest things I noticed that we probably need to work on after this game:

1. Our defense is AWFUL at defending the screens, even when half the stadium suspects a screen is coming. We also still have some inconsistent tackling at times. We are great at pursuit to the ball and can usually close quickly, but a lot of backs seem to be getting beyond our first contact on us.

2. MUST run the ball more effectively and efficiently in the red zone. I'm all for going 6 for 6 in the red zone, but when 4 of them are FGs, its a bit disappointed. We seem to be struggling converting TDs on rushing plays inside the 5-10 yard line.

Just a GREAT win and this team will only get better on both sides of the ball, IMO.  Learning and executing the new offense, getting new young starters experience on D.  Also a shout out to Jimmy and Chykie who have pretty much held it down for 2 weeks sans Webby.  Look forwared to seeing Juice get involved in the passing game.

I agree the short yardage/redzone plays needs to be figured out. I'd like to see Deonte activated and possibly open up the big play down field there was a few drop backs Joe was going to launch but it wasnt there...

I didn't read through the whole thread and wasn't able to watch much of the game last night, but can anyone share how Wagner has looked on the right side this season so far? I haven't heard anything about him so I'm assuming he's been the guy stepping up that we saw in the preseason

Rick Wagner is going to be the best right tackle the Ravens have ever had. Those are my thoughts on his performance so far.
