Merged: Ray Rice Released and Suspended

2,774 posts in this topic

Gosh, when will this topic die? This Ray Rice topic is like the Die Hard series. It should've died a long time ago but it keeps getting unnecessarily revived.

domestic abouse is an extremely important issue. to try to sweep it under the rug is ludicrous and cowardly.

guys you can justify this anyway you want but the reality is the ravens are practicing hypocrisy if they talk about character in the locker room, character in the organization and character in the community.

i grew up down the street from rutgers university. i am a big ray rice fan but if you want to be a credible person or organiation you need to make the tough decisions to reinforce your beliefs which means you cut an impact player if that player defies the beliefs you espouse.

harbaugh either better stop taking about character or be prepared to lose credibility wiht his team and the community.

I agree 100%. Harbs and the FO better act or be seen as class-less hypocrites.

The Ravens need to add a 6 game suspension of their own if not more. Ill never see Ray Rice in the same light again. This is really sad.

It's been beaten to death (no pun intended) and we all know Rice is an idiot and pretty stupid and never should have done it. It's widely known he made a mistake and I've lost a ton of respect for him like everyone else. I'm just saying, there's nothing to accomplish from this anymore. He's wrong and it's that simple.

As for a longer suspension I'm not sure that's coming but based upon what I've seen from Forsett I think we can get away with it. I doubt we will though. I would've thought if we were going to suspend him we would've because in sure we planned for the scenario where this is leaked

According to Aaron Wilson's twitter (RavensInsider) the NFL released a statement they asked law enforcement for all videos related to the Ray Rice investigation and they never saw this particular video until today.

Makes me wonder if the law enforcement had the video.  If they didn't, then I wonder how long TMZ sat on this.  Also makes me wonder if someone can be prosecuted for not handing that over to law enforcement when it was requested.

Just head on Coherd...NFL has said they DID NOT see this part of the video.

Sort of a big deal. And a very incriminating video.

If there was a video for everything....

He's getting rightfully killed by just about everyone but the repetitive showing of that video is just killing his image somehow even greater.

Brandon Marshall will never be looked at the same way as Rice despite having a way longer rap sheet, including DV.... Fair or not, Ray brought it upon himself, but it still sucks for him that the whole world gets to watch and criticize the darkest 2 minutes in his life.

Guys. The incident is over. Don't join the whole angry Lynch mob. People just want something to bunch up their panties and they found it.

That said we can't afford to have him on this team anymore. Too much bad PR.

He might be too big of a distraction to even allow back...

Ravens should suspend him for the year. Not only is it the right thing to do, the team won't have to suffer the constant attention throughout the season. He's not bigger than the team, they shouldn't have to suffer.

I debated this with many friends and defended Ray Rice because I believe "innocent until proven guilty" is more than just an idea, it's part of the foundation to this country. However this video proves that all the guessers were correct and he is guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. I think his jerseys should be removed immediately from every retailer and burned during a public ceremony. This just became bigger than anything related to football. Please Mr Bisciotti, CUT THIS GUY TODAY!

No doubt. Domestic violence isn't a light issue and just because I wish the topic died doesn't mean I'm okay with it looks some suggest. Why is it that because someone says the topic should die that means they're okay with domestic violence? Rice already changed things by doing it. His reputation took a huge hit especially for children and women who genuinely liked him. Roger even changed the rules on the punishment of domestic violence because of this incident.

I am disappointed in this organization. As of 10:54 AM EDT, not one article on their official website acknowledging this new video. This organization expects from its fans on game day what they obviously do not expect from their own players; that is, class and proper decorum.  Show this fan that the club actually stands for something besides "winning at all costs" and cut this punk. If the Baltimore Ravens cannot or will not sever ties with such a grade-A menace, then I know exactly where they stand on domestic violence. It's beyond shameful.

It's certainly something we could entertain with how well Forsett has looked. Would certainly help our PR

people believed he reacted to a direct situation....and people still supported and cheered on rice.

some believed he was guilty because simply a woman was involved and gave her impunity. Some supported Rice because the double standard does no good for society and everyone needs to keep hands to themselves.

This video show Rice being the bully and not reacting to being hit in the face and spit on repeatedly.

I think it might take a little longer to decide what they can (and even should) do.

This is stupid. The media managed to take an incident that was over and cause a huge media dumpster fire.

Its a horrible thing and Rice should be gone and so should everyone who isn't a fan anymore or was quick to grab a pitchfork.

What they should do is cut him. What they can do is what they should do. Sometimes the strongest response is an immediate one.

Let me say this before I clear up how much video editing can really do to someone. After that video, yes I believe he should be cut. Forsett played well enough to where we can cut Rice without much of an issue. Now to educate you all on who think a video being edited doesn't matter.

Imagine getting into a fight with someone on tape. He hit you first, you strike him back in self defense and it leads to a bigger fight leading to a lawsuit. Now if you were suing for assault because he hit you first, someone can use any editing program(Adobe Premier Elements, Avid Editing, Final Cut Pro or any video editing program) cut out the part where he hit you first and only release the video showing you hitting him first. Then him reacting, but because the video held out the part where he hit you first, that will come across as you hitting him first and him hitting back in self-defense. So then when you try to take him to court and that doctored footage is used, your lawsuit goes out the window and he wins because of an altered video.

Again, I feel we should cut Rice, not defending him. I just wanted to educate you guys on how much edited footage can be bad and why the original video is important.

I'm pretty sure we can't cut him anyways. Look at his contract. It would destroy us to pay that.

Instead of yelling at each other we should be calm and prepare for the PR , and hate we will be getting as fans and as an organization.

Let me educate you. Domestic violence is real. The video, however edited you might suggest, proves it. Learn up, son. Life's gonna be a tough one for you.

Should cut him today, but they won't.

I think he will be released by the end of the week. Forsett  showed he is more then capable.

As a human being he is a poor excuse for one. My suggestion is to boycott the team until they stand up for battered women everywhere and say they will not condone his behavior by exercising the morality clause of his contract and cut him. I don't care if that means giving up one of the best running backs in the game. Guys like this don't change. This is their story. They batter, apologize, batter, apologize ... and they keep on doing it. Ray Rice needs to be shown the exit from the NFL and let him go elsewhere to find fans who adore him. As for now and for the future I will always be disgusted by this [profanity deleted]. I can't wait until one day, someone gives him a taste of his own medicine.

I expect more from the Baltimore Ravens. They need to man up and resolve this ... NOW.
