Merged: Ray Rice Released and Suspended

2,774 posts in this topic

At the end of the day....What does off the field rice have to do with with his ability to perform his job? He's a professional entertainer that carries a football up the field. I feel you let the legal process play out and that's it. You hope a person comes away from it so they can provide us weekly entertainment.

There's people that commit crimes that provide good services for people. is employing RAY RICE bad because he will use the money to support anti-women organizations?...People must feel RICE will use the money for something evil. I honestly don't care if RICE was smoking crack before the games...he's a paid entertainer that is suppose to entertain us. I didn't know it was privilege to entertain thousands of people....I figured the privilege is being able to set back in the seats and be entertained.

Guess you learn something everyday, but people that buy tickets and owners that write checks are funding/providing for players lifestyles. the players don't buy tickets to see the fans....we pay them to entertain us.

@ESPNNFL: JUST IN: Ray Rice will argue that the video TMZ released of him inside the elevator was edited http://es.pn/1DqFXOS

Upon further review...the call...I mean the 2nd call in the elevator...stands...for now...but....ok just pay the man.

Translation - Nothing's really change. He told the truth, the truth was ugly and reactions were hypocritical at best by everyone. This will go-on for quite sometime and this wil end with a pay-out. Hopefully, maybe just maybe we'll learn something from this.

On further review...not so much.

On further review maybe this could cause some Ethics backlash in the media against TMZ and ESPN or get the media to review its standards

I like that word. Hypocritical as in a certain former Baltimore football legend who looked awkward last week, and then decided that he wanted to get another opportunity to make himself look awkward by not filtering his remarks this week?

I know everybody loves him myself included. But no one ever wants to acknowledge that he needs to keep his mouth shut at times. That's just the truth...the truth....

.......................the truth

Sorry to be the voice of reason in this thread. There is no conspiracy, but the Ravens higher-ups clearly did all they could to get Rice off easy. Of course you could argue, that is their job, but to do so in the face of what Rice did is sickening. All the deceit they spun to the fanbase makes it worse.

You think in the middle of a season Steve B is going to fire essentially the entire top of his Front Office?  Ya we have DeCosta in the wings but a decision like that blows up the entire team.  What if Harbaugh was involved in the decision to keep him.  You'd call for Harbaugh, Ozzie and Cass to be fired in week 3?  I'm not saying what is right or wrong, but you also have to look at it from a football standpoint.  The Ravens desperately need things to return to normal from a football standpoint.  Firing Ozzie and Cass won't help that.  What of Steve B then?  He was involved in it all according to the article, he can't just fire Ozzie and Cass for what was a decision he supported and was involved in.  That'd be beyond hypocritical.  Or is he supposed to sell the team now?

Can you block a thread like you can a poster?

I wish, this was the last thread up unlocked and was 3 rd from the bottom before being bumped up ( I would not have responded if this wasn't top 4)

I never said Harbaugh, but yeah I think Cass and Byrne should resign. If you read all of my posts you would see that I already discussed this. As for Ozzie, he is at least partially to blame as well, and we all know his replacement is waiting in the wings. We might actually get better as a team by seeing him go. Steve B was clearly involved which makes it an awkward situation, but he is being advised on what is going on by the execs on the team. Someone is likely going to be the fall guy for this, unless the Ravens make up something else to wriggle out of this mess. There is going to be a lot of public pressure for someone to take the fall here, whether or not that ends up with resignations I don't know. I think it should.

Before any more judgement maybe everyone should step-off, just support the other 52+1 players on the team (especially Pitta right now), give it a break and wait for the press conference coming up.

After the press conference maybe everyone should step-off, just support the other 52+1 players on the team (especially Pitta right now) and give it a break, again (just a day-or-2).

Just a thought.

Agreed. I think as fans we should just give it a break. If I made a mistake I'd like to think my boss would consider my past and give me a 2nd chance. As it's already been stated they had not seen the 2nd video, I don't think they did anything underhanded or sneaky here. Rooney campaigned for Big Ben till the cows came home and it was fine.

Unfortunately society doesn't like second chances or lies even when most likely in their own lives they lied and had received second chances themselves. I'm disappointed by our current society mindset and it's not everybody but the media only moves in a direction where we as people are at mentally and etc.

Ravens fans(not all) have been doing nothing but judging and pointing finger even our organization has done the same from allowing of Ray Rice jerseys to be exchange, fans calling for ozzie, harbaugh, Biscottie job and so much more.I understand the seriousness of domestic  violence and it's great The NFl is finally taking it seriously but it's crazy to me how Ravens fans are so disappointed in our organization for possibility showing a little extra support to a player whoms been with the team for six years and has done nothing but great things in the community

We not even talking about a player that represented him self in negative way but a player that not only gave his all on the field for six years but also off the field as well.

how you know she ain't slip on a banana peel?

you can't make a judgement on a half a video. you need to see a full video!!! I HOPE YOU NEVER HAVE JURY DUTY...EVER!

I know she didn't slip on a banana peel because I'm not a willfully ignorant dimwit.

I didn't make my judgement on half a video, I made my judgement based on half a video, a police report, numerous witness accounts on twitter, and my ability to comprehend complex information.  I also hope I never have jury duty, that sounds miserable.  My 8 hour days are worth a lot more than $12 and validated parking.

The Ravens front page says Harbaugh will address the media.  I don't like hearing that he is the only one.  Bisciotti, Cass, and Ozzie should be there as well because if Harbs is there by himself again, he's going to undeservedly get eaten alive. :34853_shakehead:

Agreed. Plus the backlash from the media will be a firestorm.

I don't understand why all four of them don't just get together at the table and take questions like they do for the State of the Ravens presser. Make too much sense? Good grief.

Rapoport reporting Bisciotti to address the media at 4pm.

I suppose we feel we need to do this, but I'll say this: I reacted too quickly in the immediate aftermath of the latest ESPN unnamed sources article. At first, I felt like we needed to respond immediately ... then understood that we'd want to wait until after game day to bother with this. The more I think about it, the more I feel like - why do we need to answer to ESPN? They are not the authority over the entire sports world (even though they may think they are). We owe them nothing.

We're going to have to go through this yet again after the the official investigator reports his findings. All ESPN is doing is trying to be the first to report what they anticipate will be in that report so they can be the first to blow the lid off this huge conspiracy involving the Ravens and the NFL.

I just feel like, no matter what Steve says at this point is just going to bring more criticism and more ESPN articles relating to this already tired and over-blown story.

I agree, balfan.

Confronting them to defend yourself just validates their nonsense. Hopefully it's short and sweet " the article's bs. the end. now back to football."

I thought Harbs was great yesterday, and utterly believable

I do hope it goes something like that. Hopefully he doesn't allow this to be a Q & A session and hopefully, he will state that he's not about to address each and every detail that ESPN has speculated upon, yet stated as fact. Simply state that the article contains inconsistencies and that it will be in everyone's best interest to let the investigation run its course and we'll address questions related to the handling of the matter after that is complete.

Their story was dying Balfan.....  So they had to resurrect it.  Just like you said...  They will claim that they knew before anyone.

And like you said....  I would say this.....

We made our decisions based on the man... The man that we know. We did not base our decision on his sin.  He's not the first, and God Help us, he won't be the last.  We need to address this as a society, not as one single incident.  The man has always been a stellar player and abundantly active in the National and Local Community.   I know that's not what the media wants to hear...  but it is the man and who he is.  Not who you saw on that video.

Now I see where it says Bisciotti will be on at 4, and Harbs's usual press conference has moved to 5.

As long as Bisciotti is up front about what went on then I hope we will be fine.

Frankly, this isn't really a Harbaugh issue. Its above his pay-grade, and he really shouldn't have been that involved to begin with.

Biggest blunder that's actually been proven so far is the franchise sending Harbaugh out there as the front man in this scandal. Big mistake in my opinion. That's precisely the role that somebody in upper management (GM or especially President) needs to handle.

In a situation like this, if I'm a supporter of the franchise and want answers, I want to hear it directly from either Cass or Bischotti. They are the people in charge with running this franchise at the highest level, and they are the one's who are consulted and undoubtedly have the final say in decisions like these.

Harbaugh is a football coach. His job is to coach football players. This is above his pay-grade.

It's never been just that way here....  They have always been a "TEAM"....
