Merged: Ray Rice Released and Suspended

2,774 posts in this topic

There out there, like the some who says the video was altered or edited. Like that really matters!

It's funny that people are calling out the  defenders of Rice when neither of us saw the video until now. Each side had no clue what really happen until now  but my views of him stay the same .

I am not defending Ray Rice at all, I am just stating the that the TMZ video appears to be tampered with as opposed to the other version that is out there.  Don't kill the messenger, lol.

Like I said, why does that matter?

how am i getting negged? I didn't see the supposed unedited video....is there a link?

he looks like IKE TURNER...and if it's true I retract my statements. But the issue was painted as a viscous attack on her part....I don't see an assault based on the TMZ video of over 3minutes.  I saw her tap him to get in the elevator and never assault him.

This is not the cut and dry situation that was presented! That's unacceptable woman or man being on the other end...but that's not how it was presented until now.

If Harvey and the boys ain't pushing an agenda!?!?

why is he editing?....why did he cut out her assault that the police saw on tape? why did he slow the video and repeat ray rice strike?

that is clearly part of the story. how can she be completely innocent and get charged?!?!? I WANT TO FULL VIDEO!...NOT THE AGENDA VIDEO. where is her punching him through the casino and spitting on him?

The video is making Rice look like Ike Turner. Clearly can't be the video goodell saw.

I don't support Ike Turner....but I don't see an assault on her part. I thought she was wailing on him in the elevator....but this looks damning on Ray Rice and if it's the full story then I RETRACT ALL OF MY PREVIOUS STATEMENTS based on the new info.

That's a bold move, and big of you to say. I am not seeing this edited version that everyone is talking about. I only saw the unedited version, and that looks bad enough. Mom Gene said there are both versions up.

It does matter... there ARE two versions...

2 version of a left hook, again why does it matter.

Why do you keep trying to polish his image, it is what it is, Rice made a mistake, he admitted it, he accepted his punishment.

Glad u guys told me theres two versions. Doesnt change what I saw in the one I viewed but still.

We aren't trying to or expecting to change opinions...  that isn't the goal.  It's to get a clearer perspective.

I was a Ray Rice fan, I believe in forgiveness, mistakes and that someone can turn their life around.

That said , I don't feel good about walking around town with a Rice jersey.  It's in the trash, being the proud father of three girls I just can't wear it in good conscience.

That video is repulsive.

so you wouldn't care if he knocked out a dude or a son the same way? it should be bad conscience as well imo. it's okay for a dude to assault a dude and not face a harsh penalty?

as i maintained assault is assault....and based on the TMZ he looks like the bully.

She wasn't even looking at him for the first one. It doesn't matter at all what happened before they got on the elevator. Awful.

Yes, I agree that they assaulted each other. Janay had no right to do what she did.

But nobody gives a crap about that. One was clearly much more in the wrong than the other. I've been smacked much harder than that by a woman, but you don't see Thugnismo on TMZ.

Because you're not a multi million dollar athlete.

The video is pretty disturbing, but it does bear out the hypothesis that Janay struck first. Ray retaliated and then pre-emptively struck her again.

If this were a video of Ray and a male friend you could even be looking at a self defense case, instead of third degree aggravated assault. I am also starting to think that if this incident occurred in a different state the charges levied against Ray may not have been so severe. This doesn't excuse either of their actions, however.

You can't be tried twice for the same crime in the court of law, but brace yourselves, the court of public opinion is about to go for round two.

i feel the punishment is tooooo light....that's why ti matters!!! this is not how it was presented. I boycotted ESPN because they accepted a woman could be wailing on a dude and spit on him in the elevator and not react.

This is not what i say on TMZ. i saw a bully not controlling his emotions and it has nothing to do if it was a female or male at the end of his punch.

I didn't need to see a video, the writing was on the wall.

I prefer not to make assumptions like that. It bites you in the butt.

As it turns out, the only thing on the wall was Janay's face

Self defense?!?!? She wasn't even looking at him when he hit her first. Who cares what happened before the elevator. Guy, girl, whatever, he approached a person who had aggravated him and assaulted them. That's the definition of aggravated assault. She was standing still looking at the front of the elevator. Why would he have to defend himself against that?

Not trying to polish it or protect ANYONE.  I believe, once again, and won't defend it again... Complete information and total view of the situation before judgment does matter. One version is clearly edited for sensationalism.

You cannot be serious.

You do not follow someone into an elevator and knock them out in self defense.

even if she did attack him it was outside the elevator. It had stopped. He re started it again at the least in the elevator.

I didn't see anything from the casino. It wouldn't take away from Ray's guilt either way, though. All it would do is show some more guilt on her part. You can't tell me that something that occurred several minutes before this video would absolve Ray in the slightest. He was aggravated, and he assaulted. That's what that term means.

i liked you level head throughout the situation regardless of gender. You are a truly empowered woman and would not draw an absolute just because an assault was across gender lines.

but you can't attack a person in the elevator in that manner...male or female even if they assaulted you earlier. That is premeditated as it stands on TMZ.
