Was it a false accusation? Was that ever said or proven to be false? Just because it didn't lead him to jail doesn't mean the accusations were false. Supposedly, the NFL had their own investigation , and it turned up some things...

No, I think it would be a much better PR move... We were just getting out of the PR doghouse from the past transgressions, the team was getting cleaned up.. NOW, this horrible offseason. I don't think doing the right thing is "too much effort". I'd say he's going to have a substantial problem for a good while fr this, and rightfully so.

conduct detrimental has been common contract lingo, who knows how his contract is drawn up.

It sucks for us now, but I don't think the franchise will be in that much of a worse place in two years' time from all this. And that's why I think any face-saving moves would be very short-term.

 

Point is that if I'm Ozzie I probably wouldn't cut Rice either, but it has more to do with the league's red tape than the severity of his actions or what I think of them. Would be nice if the league did a bit to cut the tape is all.

why because i said false.....they were false that has been established. first girl had a history of making up lies to get attention(look it up its well documented) and the police found that the second girls story didnt make sense with all the other facts of the case, its why no charges were filed because they told the DA she was lying. he got suspended for having sex in a bathroom and putting himself in a bad situation.

Good, we get it. It's done. Goodell screwed the pooch on this one, admitted it and apologized for it. It's over.

And from a Steelers fan that pays attention, both Rice and Roethlisberger are still scum.

He took a plea admitting guilt, but his record will be expunged if he doesn't knock out anymore women in the mean time. It isn't as if he fought the case and was found innocent.

I don't care to compare him to Ben, because Ben has nothing to do with anything. Rice makes me sick. I wish him the best as a person and as a Raven. But I have lost all respect I have had for him. I don't know if this is something I can overlook. Maybe in time.

No... You're missing my point. He should have been found guilty. NJ should be getting lambasted also. As for the expunged thing... That may happen, but it still lives in public record.

Regardless of the video, I think the decisions were made, and opinions have been stated, to the enth degree.  That TMZ chooses to hold on to this and release it on the opening day of the season is ridiculously ridiculous...  A complete PR move.  It's truly sad that this "company" relied on this for that reason.  Just when it calms down they want to drag it into the season. 

 

Yes, Shame on Ray...  it's understood and has been for months now...  Let's not give TMZ the publicity they are looking for.  I have always considered them the National Enquirer of the celebrity world.

But nobody gives a crap about that. One was clearly much more in the wrong than the other. I've been smacked much harder than that by a woman, but you don't see Thugnismo on TMZ.

I agree ,  here is where I have to air on the side that if you charge one you charge both,  not saying the suspension is not warranted but I think Mandatory Counselling for both parties should be part of that now that they are married .... that should be part of the requirement both parties not just one complete a course .  but the problem is most courses are run by people who see women as never being able to be the assailant.

Actually guys I don't see how you get anything the skipping in the video  shows some Amature tampering  there are missing frames , not defending rice but this is about as conclusive that both parties are at fault ,  do not think might makes right or that damage vs non damage , they assaulted eachother  re watch it

I actually have to agree with you on this one, not excusing the Rice's of any wrongdoing, but that video was definitely edited (if not tampered with by TMZ or someone) as you can tell it has been spliced together because at the end of it you can clearly hear the sound cut in and out twice, also that is probably the purpose of it being played in slow motion so the editing isn't so obvious.   Did anyone else notice that you actually never see Rice's hands, just blurs.  I'll reserve judgment until I see the official, unedited version.  Just sayin'.

It's because the Revel Atlantic City casino/hotel closed down just the other day and TMZ paid top dollar to the person who had the tape.

That makes a lot of sense. I get holding onto it during the trial because of the whole not prejudicing the trial and balance of evidence thing, but it just seemed curious that they'd hang onto it for a few months after it all.

That I agree with. I thought they jumped the gun a bit when a non-committal "we'll wait until we have all the appropriate facts to hand" would have done the job. Kind of upset me as I'd love to do sports PR and I could have done a release like that for free.

The video is making Rice look like Ike Turner. Clearly can't be the video goodell saw. 

I don't support Ike Turner....but I don't see an assault on her part.  I thought she was wailing on him in the elevator....but this looks damning on Ray Rice and if it's the full story then I RETRACT ALL OF MY PREVIOUS STATEMENTS based on the new info.

Agreed. There was no reason to be writing that "I like Ray Rice" tripe. And to think, I was constantly negged for saying the PR people screwed up.

I was a Ray Rice fan, I believe in forgiveness, mistakes and that someone can turn their life around.

 

 That said , I don't feel good about walking around town with a Rice jersey.  It's in the trash, being the proud father of three girls I just can't wear it in good conscience.

He deserves a year long suspension and it sucks to say that. I don't feel like he's a 'Raven' anymore. I was so excited for him to come back in week 3 and have an amazing season but I just don't think I can root for him anymore .

Not a good look...we all had assumptions about what possibly took place in that elevator. I know I had assumed Ray was probably getting attacked by his girl which forced him to "defend" himself...even then hitting her wouldve been wrong but I just thought there would have been something to justify 2 games.

This doesnt. This is bad. This is a long suspension. Im not gonna judge Ray based of this...but this wasn't good. And im the first one to say after what I saw on the field yesterday I want Ray back asap.

Ravens organization, show some class, and release him.  He doesn't deserve to be a Raven.  The NFL saw this video before handing down the suspension, way to go Goodell.  It makes me wonder if Ozzie, Steve and John also saw the tape.  Losing respect quickly, and I have been a Baltimore sports fan all my life, and if he stays, only Oriole jerseys and memorabilia in my house from now on.

I am not defending Ray Rice at all, I am just stating the that the TMZ video appears to be tampered with as opposed to the other version that is out there.  Don't kill the messenger, lol.
