Merged: Ray Rice Released and Suspended

2,774 posts in this topic

" I do not care about the Ravens' image, as it does not effect my personal life. "

Unlike you, I do care about the image of the team I root for.  And by self-respect I meant, respect as a fan. I take pride in my team's success and feel bad when we fail both on-field and off-field. If the Ravens win a superbowl, I feel like I won it.  I guess that's part of being a fan. I don't want to walk into an opponent's stadium wearing a uniform that supports domestic violence . That might change when the Ravens actually punish Rice.

Im sorry were you calling for them to cut him a month ago?

You fans are absolutely unbelievable. This is basically double jeopardy. You're essentially condemning him for the same crime twice. The facts of the case havent changed. He should not have his suspension lengthened. He should not be released. He already admitted to all of this. Its not like he lied about either. There is no way the NFL and police did not have this video. There is no way that everyone and their mother involved did not know about this. The only difference is you are seeing it now rather than hearing about it.

What Rice did is deplorable and I in no way condone it, but he got his punishment, he is serving it. If you have a problem with the punishment, then you should have had a problem with it a month ago. The fact that there wasn't this level of outrage a month ago tells me that ppl here are just sensationalized.

No because the crime wasn't the same. He was convicted in a public court of self defense, now he is being tried for actual domestic abuse. Ravens fans gave him the benefit of the doubt after the Ravens PR shoved said doubt down their throat. This is not the same crime.

That's where you are mistaken. A month ago, we did not know exactly what happened in that elevator. Now we do.

But I do agree that people need to stop complaining about the punishment (I am refering to the people who already declared Rice a piece of crap before they even knew the facts). Goodell and the team went easy on him, due to his past, and the things he has done to rectify the situation since then.

I just don't think anything is going to come of this. It's totally different than the Hernandez situation, because he killed someone. I'm sorry. Domestic violence is a terrible thing, emotionally and physically, with physiological and physiological damage; however, his wife has forgiven the guy. We're only saying he's a terrible person because we saw the video. People want him out of the league because of the video. Yeah, it's really terrible. No lie. My question is, if you want Rice out for this, then what if MacDonald, Hardy, etc? These guys has even more serious reports of domestic violence than Rice. Rice punched her and knocked her out. Hardy physically abused her and threatened to kill her, etc. We should all remember MacDonald.

You can't call for one person's head and not another just because you saw a video. Hardy, MacDonald, the NFL players should be calling for their head's as well.

did you missed when they said she attacked ray rice...punch him several times and spit on him in the elevator after smacking him in the casino?!?!? And he responded. I felt the NFL over-reacted  to self-defense and people were mad cause a woman should have impunity in treatment of men.

This video is not what was reported!

Lol Fly. This is something the team will have to deal with for a really long time as long as he is allowed to play. Maybe they will cut him to get this done with?

I would understand if the team made that decision. All I am saying is that the team's priorities and mine are not the same.

Crazy, all they have to do is just not wear his jersey anymore and believe me I plan on throwing his jersey in the trash when I get home. I just hope by the time my plane arrives back in Charlotte tomorrow morning that he will have been released.

Does anyone remember if the NFL gave the Patriots cap relief from Aaron Hernandez after his whole situation? I'm thinking if they did we could get the same cap relief for Rice that they gave them.

already done....

I'm just curious. Does anyone think we'll suspend Ray? I'm not being sarcastic either. I'm asking that legitimately. Does anyone honestly think the Ravens will suspend him any further than he has.

They should. They ruled on the information that was out there at the time ( we assume), but this video is more damning than most thought it would be, and 2 games is laughable for what he did. The Ravens should suspend him for a few more games just to send the message. I would like to see us bump it to the 6 games that is now the NFL conduct.

Stop there is no way everyone didn't know he knocked her the heck out. Rice and his wife both testified to what happened and on top of all that the NFL and police both had video evidence and decided the appropriate punishment.

The problem ppl have and are mistakenly taking out on Rice should be directed at the NFL (which it was and done so successfully) and the criminal justice system.

Correct. There was also the HOPE that it was something less. Something like her being shoved (still not acceptable against a woman) and that she hit her head on the handrail. Not the case anymore and all the evidence is present, more or less.

A Bleacher Report REPORTER (not columnist or blogger) just said that he heard from a Raven player that Rice is losing support of the locker room. You can question the validity of the text, but you simply can't outright deny that Rice could be losing the locker room. If he's lost the locker room support, I do expect a release.

This video is not what was reported!

The video was also edited according to TMZ. Either way Im sure what we heard certainly trumps what Rice, an unedited tape, and the victim told the police/NFl right?

If the NFL and the Ravens saw this potrtion of video prior to the descisions I am going to be hugely disappointed.

I was calling for either a Ravens handed down 6 game suspension or a Rice initiated one.

For anyone who thinks that the police, NFL, and our front office did not have this video 1 month ago when the suspension and punishment were dealt out, you really are on a witch hunt.

THIS IS NOTHING NEW. IT WAS ALREADY KNOWN REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE NFL CLAIMS.

It's hard to rebound from losing locker room confidence. I've seen it happen in both soccer and football. Once that happens, you're as good as dead. Still, I'm not sure it's true. It's so hard to believe what you hear.

Man I just saw the whole video, and as a man I was repulsed by his actions. I hated what he did, then found a way to move on and now I am so disgusted by this, that I want him out of the public eye forever. I don't want him in a Ravens uniform period. The Ravens are now running the risk of alienating their loyal fanbase if they persist with this guy after his 2 game suspension. Does it really matter if they have a losing season without Rice? I don't think so.

Him being cut immediately will rally the fanbase in favor of the organization, despite how his loss may affect our team adversely.. at least that is how I feel right now. First this moron spits on her and then accosts her, and then knocks her out cold. Originally I was under the impression that she kept punching him and then out of frustration he retaliated.... I was probably giving Ray too much credit I suppose...

I understand that, and I am glad you care enough about our team to feel that way. Believe me I get as hyped up as anyone when it comes to this team. But at the same time, I seperate fandom from real life, meaning that I don't give a damn what the rest of the world thinks, I will be rocking the hell out of my Flacco or Suggs jersey when and where I want, and doing so in pride. I love this team. One stupid act by one player will never ever change that.

Completely agree. It's like they're learning about it for the first time just because they saw a video of it.

No. I usually reserve my judgement until I see proof.

He admitted to doing it so regardless of proof or not, you knew about this 1 month ago. Whether you see it or not is completely irrelevant

We all make mistakes, but we also have to pay the consequences.

And should get a chance to redeem himself .

What he did was outrageous and I'm surprised he

didn't get jail time but I believe in redemption .

I think the Ravens FO will suspend him 4 more games to make it 6 games . Next incident , if there was one , banned for life .
