Top Plays Of 08

6 posts in this topic

I figured we could all do a little bit of reminiscing on what a spectacular season this has been. These are my top 10 plays of 08 (so far)

10. Ed Reed returning a pick back for 6 in our week 2 victory over the Cleveland Browns

9. Same game, Ray Lewis' thunderous hit on Kellen Winslow that jammed the ball loose, into the grateful hands of Chris McAllister.

8. Troy Smith to Joe Flacco for 43 yards, against Oakland. One of our more succesful experimentations with the 'Suggs Package'. We learned some things about Joe's athleticism and confidence aswell as courage on that play.

7. Jim Leonhard picks off Ryan Fitzpatrick in the waning moments of the Ravens victory over the hapless Bengals. I put this here because Jim has worked tirelessly for the team and playing solid defense. This was his first real flashy play that garnered him some national attention.

6.(tie) Joe Flacco's 70 yard bomb to Mark Clayton, caught exsquisitely with one hand. Mark errupted for a career day that game against the Cincinnati Bengals

6.(tie) Same game, Mark Clayton turns into the provider, connecting on the touchdown hook-up with Derrick Mason

5. Willis McGahee's 77 yard Touchdown run last night. The Cowboys had all the momentum at that point, and it was a great play to swing it back our way. It was also the longest of Willis' career.

4. Ed Reed's swipe and scoop (and then runback for touchdown) against the Redskins. He has such an unbelievable nose for the ball, and then the endzone.

3. (tie) Jameel McClain records a sack for a safety in his first pro snap. It came in the demolition of the Raiders.

3. (tie)Jameel McClain's blocked punt that resulted in a safety against Philly (his hometown team). His second in the year, a franchise career record and ties the record for most safeties in a season. Not bad for an undrafted rook, huh?

2. Joe Flacco's 38 yard touchdown run against the Bengals in week one. That was the day we were formally introduced to our quarteback of the future. Joe Flacco.

1. And from the QB of the future, to the safety of the past. Ed Reed returns to his ball-hawking best against the Eagles, capping off a sublime performance with a record 107 yard interception return touchdown, and spurring a late challenge for his second DPOY honors with a succesion of excellent performances.

McGahee's run should be in the top 3 because of how important it was.

Also Suggs' pick 6 vs Cleveland was another bigplay we needed to put them away.

Hmm, true, but I feel like 1 and 2 were season defining plays. Plus I have an unbelievably huge man crush on Jameel McClain. That's why his plays are so high.
