Arthur Brown Trade Rumors

458 posts in this topic

Maybe I'm just honestly speculating too much; although, the healthy scratch on Sunday is quite concerning, in my opinion.

That it was.  Very strange because one would think that's the type of game we need him in with Eifert, Gresham, and Gio.  I agree there seems to be a bit of smoke.

There is a big difference between teams asking for Arthur Brown in a trade and the Ravens "shopping" him which they are not doing.

It's probably something like this: "Ravens are looking for a corner or WR and they are going to teams with some targets they'd like to bring in and those teams are saying let's talk Arthur Brown. So they might be asking, but other than a premiere talent coming back, the Ravens won't move him.

Lee Evans quickly comes to mind.

Lee Evans didn't have an ability problem though, he had an injury problem. I think a more apt example would Housh. He straight up mailed it in late in the season when he was playing for us.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him go, but if he's going to get traded, you have to imagine it's for a pretty big time player because Brown is young and extremely athletic

Except for the 10year Almost pro bowl Vet with 16mil contract...

1. Would you argue with me that Daryl Smith getting torched in coverage against Cincy and played poor run defense?

2. Arthur Brown is clearly currently the quicker and imo more talented

3. Please read my previous post where cutting him next year would save about $750k and cutting in 2 years would save $2.1 mill ,my assumption would be that Brown takes over for Smith sometime this year and smith is a backup next year and cut in 2 years.

No harm in shopping the guy. Hell they should shop Flacco, Ngata and the Team Name for all I car. See what you can get, all you have to say is no. But if the right offer came along, why not consider it. All it does is make us fans nervous because we don't know what is going on in their minds. Its probably harmless, and I hope someone gives us a first round pick this year for him, maybe we take it.

I would be ok with this if we got someone that has youth and is not a head case. Morris Claiborne?

I can't understand why anyone would trade for Brown. He hasn't had the game experience to warrant a trade, from another team's standpoint. You don't trade for a player based on his potential.

When arthur has been on the field I thought he has looked good. The limited amount hes been on the field he has looked fairly explosive and has made the tackles. Has he looked that bad in practice or something? Are they that high on zachary orr that he can add depth there?

RSR reports that the Ravens are not involved in trade talks and that the Ravens have high hopes for he and Mosley. Sounds like they're open to trading him at the right price, but not actively trying to

Do you know how ridiculous it would be to have Mosley and Brown play togeather at this point? Why would we want our defense to be anchor by those with relatively ZERO regular season play time. Smith calls assignments , plays , and has enough left in him at this point.

Covering the middle of the field has been a weakness for a while. We need to keep and develop Art's talent. Smith's age, and CJ's injury history are concerns. And for whom and which position are we targeting? CB? RB?

Probably haven't been high on him for a while and one of the reasons why Mosley was drafted in the 1st in the first place.

Apparently Upshaw actually makes the calls, or he did for the Super Bowl team. Plus, Mosley has played in a very similar defense at Alabama and said most of the calls and checks are pretty much the same

This surprises me... 0 much...

I'm sorry; but, I knew the moment the Ravens took C.J. Mosley with their 1st-round pick, this past May, something was amiss with Arthur Brown. Plus, c'mon; a healthy scratch for the back-up ILB, while Zach Orr was active? The proof is in the pudding.

I do think  something is there, with ray Lewis on the team (past) we have always had underrated  lbs playing next to him, the team is talking up orr,, maybe the future will be rewrote, where there is smoke there is a trade in the works,,,,,,,,,,,

Hypothetically, if Art were to be traded, would you be happy to get Micah Hyde from the Packers? I'm bored and looking at potential trade partners. Trade like this rarely happens but I think it would be interesting...Hyde had a great rookie season last year.

-Packers have the depth to afford that.

-He can play FS and/or CB for us.

-Trading him to a team we rarely play.

- Can also return kicks/punts

- Still young and on first contract

If we were to trade him, which I'm not advocating for, I'd hope it's for him.

I didn't mean like when the Ravens could "replace" Daryl Smith. What I meant is more like: Is Arthur Brown going to be Smith's successor, lining-up next to Daryl Smith?

A lot of people seem to think that's the case. However, this is Art Brown's second year and, for a 2nd-rounder, he has yet to see significant playing time in a NFL game. He didn't get much reps last year, when Bynes and Jameel McClain were the starters next to Daryl Smith. And now, after the healthy scratch, where does Brown honestly fit-into the Ravens plans? Even in the preseason, Josh Bynes got more snaps with the first-team, if I remember correctly.

A player's third year in the NFL usually, more times than not, determine the kind of player he will become. Right now, Brown is in year 2 and has yet to get going. If the Ravens can get something worth while for Art Brown, since he's still young, I wouldn't be against it.

I think this is where we disagree. I don't think Brown will succeed Smith but Mosley, who will succeed Smith. I don't think Bynes getting more first team reps means anything, as I can point to those reps being an attempt to make Bynes look good and hopefully trade him.

I'd only trade Brown if we can get Denzel Perryman or AJ Johnson. Otherwise what's the point. Mosley is a guy I love but he's got a history of knee injuries and that's never good.

I'm fine with it, if it gets good return. I wasn't enamored with Art Brown to begin with... They're really high on Zach Orr and we're pretty solid at the position.

I wouldn't be against trading him, as long as we got a decent player out of it. We need a cornerback, and I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade for a CB or WR. I would like to trade for one if it improved our team immediately. However, I don't know if we could do it. Mosley is a rookie, he's good one but he's still a rookie, and Smith happens to have a history of injuries. We are very firm at that position but I think it would be hard for us to just trade away someone as young and talented as Brown is.

All teams entertain trades all the time. This probably arose because of Brown being a surprise inactive. I don't think he's going anywhere.

Not going to lie, this will make me pretty mad.

Same here I think he was a favorite player of mine that I hoped we  drafted last year. i was a little upset last year that he didn't play how i thought he would. this preseason I was finally like yes that's the guy we drafted and he's inactive the first game. I don't know what gives with that he's too talented to be inactive. You could almost play him next to Mosley to see how fast our defense can be.

I never understood the whole trade a good young player for a 1st round pick philosophy. Brown is better than alot of 1st rd talent in last year's draft and this years. It's like when KC traded Allen for a 1st rd. Pick then used that same pick on a DL man. Who never did much while Allen continued to rack up 10+ sack seasons year after year(Allen was a 7th rd pick!). When I said I pick him over anyone I meant it the guy has talent he can be our next superstar LB why get rid of that potential for a gamble? Makes no sense..n i know they said there's no chance but the fact that he was a healthy scratch n then the rumors ain't good..

Btw guys it was spell check cmon..

For anyone who thinks the Ravens ever or will ever consider trading Brown. Linebacking corps around the league have been hit especially hard this year. The lasted is Ellerbe going down in Miami. Its natural for other teams to call the Ravens and ask about Brown. All Ozzie is doing is taking the phone call before politely saying "thanks but no thanks".

I understand that, but the reports say everything from we're listening to offers but not shopping him to we're shopping him. It's all over the place. NFL.com reports we're the ones trying to move him and seeing if anyone bites.
