Arthur Brown Trade Rumors

458 posts in this topic

Perhaps this article is old news to all of you but I also am disappointed Brown can't get on the field and your talk about special teams is addressed in this piece.  http://russellstreetreport.com/ravens-lack-trust-in-young-players/

With the injuries we currently have and the need for speed to slow down Luck and the Colts, if Art Brown doesn't dress and play this week he's done as a useful Raven imo. I hope that's not the case.

He's done as a useful Raven if he doesn't suit up Sunday? Lol okay. Glad to know you're giving up on him after a year. Makes sense.

Also, it would seem the trade rumors were very much baseless as he hasn't gone anywhere and this story is cold outside of fan discussion on him being a game day inactive.

That's just not true.  If Daryl Smith got injured Arthur Brown would be active the next game and play every snap.

I said I hope that's not the case that he's done as a Raven. But when 5 defensive players that were UdFAs are suiting up and playing instead of him, the writing on the wall is pretty clear to me. But I'm sure you are right, you know better.

Good point. How many other under sized inside linebackers tore it up for special teams. From seeing things about Arthur he kind of seemed like Troy P. A guy who is hard worker but just not into football. Maybe he stopped caring after he got paid.

I think if he didn't show desire, he wouldn't be on the team. But, it's interesting that he isn't dressed and available on game day as a backup in case of injury.

Personally I wouldn't go that far (rather give him to the end of next year at least), but that really wouldn't be a flash sign for him. Just think, if that happens and Elam never pans out as we'd like, the 2013 draft class could be our most disappointing to date. Especially after the high hopes we had for it.

If B. Williams, juice, and Wagner become solid long term contributors I would say it was successful. But, man if elam and brown pan out along with those 3 What a killer draft.

people forget that upshaw can also slide into the ILB position incase smith or mosley goes down.

they also have orr who plays ST who can possibly slide in if needed.

there is just no reason to activate brown at the moment when the chance for playing is little.

thats not a knock on brown and his skill set , its just simple roster management.

I don't know better. I don't have any inside information. I'll admit that, but it's hasty regardless to just jump to the conclusion that he's done as a Raven if he doesn't play against Indy. Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

Can Brown at least rush the passer? If he can do that, we should open up a spot for him.

He's a decent blitzer from memory. I also recall s fair bit of hype about him and CJ being on the field together and how either or both could bring extra pressure from the inside on any given snap.

We may be waiting until next year for Arthur like it or not. Gives him more time to bulk up at least.

A lot of experts seemed to see his lack of strength as a problem

(contritely) Yes, I was being overly emphatic with my displeasure of Brown not suiting-up but you gotta admit dressing 6 UdFAs, on defense no less, ahead of a 2nd round ILB is sending a message. And he didn't dress this week either. After all, it's not like Daryl Smith is playing lights-out or the other guys are lighting it up. Brown needs reps to get better imho or else he really sucks eggs.

He can't gain weight.. I'm a Miami Hurricane diehard as well. Trust me he couldn't gain weight in college. That's been the knock on him.

My problem is if that is what they are doing, why not have him stub his toe and go on IR? Don't know why he keeps staying inactive, confusing stuff

I remember when we said the same thing about Ryan Jensen last year.

we need a stronger pass rush,, we need more pressure on QB's ,, I  think talent wise we are good and if BROWN helps then play him ,and if he is on the trade block and we can get better then trade him,,,, BUT I would trade for sexy rexy,

A lot of young Ravens have had simular starts to their careers.. Paul Kruger is pretty recent.

Or he could be Dan Cody or Kindle

I didn't know Arthur Brown was injured. Both Cody and Kindle had major injuries before they ever took a snap

And that worked out really poorly for us as he only played significant time in his contract year and then was lost to FA.

If management wants to ply his worth, nothing can be done.  However, I suggest he plays 3 games in the role that suits him before an alternative plan emerges. The fans ,especially the ones in our forum can also assess  his value at that point

It didnt work out poorly at all. there were better players in front of him, until there weren't.

His point being... if he becomes a Kruger, he will be very good for us for one season, and then will go place elsewhere.

He would actually fall into more of the Ellerbe range...and we all know Ellerbe isn't nearly as special as the Dolphins perceived him to be.

I know the point.. but just becasue he's not playing doesnt mean he's the best option. The best option is on the gameday roster, playing in the game.
