That is not really a fair question since no one here had any sort of admiration for, nor gave any sort of support to Ben regardless. Also there is the matter of his questionable past. He is already on the short list of someone who seems to have little respect for women. Naturally the tone and viewpoint would be very different. You are comparing apples to spoiled nasty bananas.

 

Just because someone is still wearing the jersey does not mean that they condone his actions anymore than someone who trades it in is saying he is evil incarnate. Some people, forgiving types, are willing to look past his actions and some, those that are more into justice or punishment, are not.

 

Myself, I am on the fence. I am pissed at him for screwing up such a golden opportunity for himself and his family, for staining the Ravens with his plain stupidity, for the effects this may have on his daughter, for the grief he has brought to his family and his fans. On the other hand, should his life be completely ruined for that moment of stupidity? After all the good he did and was trying to accomplish? All appearances, the only thing we can really go on, he seemed to be a really nice guy that was really concerned about helping people. His life should not be irrevocably marked by this one event.

 

Second chances are a real thing. Look it up in the dictionary.

While we all appreciate some of the comments that are and were posted, folks have made some really good points.  I also noticed some supportive comments of what we as fans know about Ray and his Community Work.  Lots of forgiveness, which isn't a bad thing in today's world.  But what I noticed most going through???  is that we were beginning to rehash/relitigate the entire thing.  And yes,  that's for another thread.

No. My son has one it's BLUE not PURPLE. There are a lot of Flacco, Rice and Oher (not with the team) honestly because in 2008 that was all you could get-- Joe was supposed to be sitting, Rice was unknown and the following year Oher had a movie made about him.

I hate to say this WBAL did a live shot and one person was holding a blue one.

But I would ask you this question... if you're a female, and the only jersey you own is a Ray Rice jersey, should you have to go spend another $100 on a jersey because of something that had nothing to do with you? Do you think its possible that you might alienate the fanbase by doing so?

I was there earlier and as far as men's go they had

Purple Flaccos

Black and purple Suggs

Purple Ray Lewis

Purple Torrey Smith

Purple Tucker

Purple and I think black Ngata

And Black Dumervils

That was as of like 10 AM so I'd imagine some of those might have changed for tomorrow. I was hoping to get a Mosley but I picked up a black Dumervil, looks awesome. Just happy to not have a 100 dollar jersey sitting in the closet going to waste.

I just left and the only mens jerseys left is Dumerville and in limited sizes.  I chose a voucher to return OCT 25 when they will have additional supply.  I was however frustrated because I saw plenty of fake jerseys being accepted where I chose to bring my authentic over my fake.  As long as the jersey is not hand drawn with a sharpie they seem to be taking them.

Its not an overraction by the Ravens, because they are giving every fan with a jersey a voluntary choice to swap it out if they want to.

Frankly, if they didn't offer a jersey exchange, I'd call it being tone deaf to the fanbase.

Yup, its a PR move. I doubt the franchise has the infrastructure (or frankly time... as referenced by the long lines) to go through and validate every single jersey that comes through.

 

I'm sure they are told to look for certain obvious knockoffs, but if its a good "counterfeit", its not worth their time to argue with fans about it.

Yeah...and there were still HUNDREDS in line when I left so my guess is all mens jerseys will be gone today.  Staff working the line were saying fakes were being exchanged for things like hats and such...but I seen them take jerseys that were fake.  I think as long as it is not blatently fake and has all the same features of an authentic they will take it.

With that being said, I still recognize that the team doesn't have to do this, so I am happy about that at least.  It's just unfortunate that a large majority of people will likely have to wait 5 weeks unless they find a way to restock tonight.

I was able to exchange mine, got there about 10:30 & was there almost 2hrs. They did have people checking to see if it was a fake and they were pretty careful. If it was real, you got a voucher for a jersey. If it was fake, you got a voucher for something off the "free gift" table, which actually had some nice stuff. I thought it was pretty cool for them to give a gift anyway, especially after standing in line so long. Surprised they haven't canceled for tomorrow though, there wasn't much left when I was there.
