TMZ to prove NFL avoided Video.

All the major media outlets want to believe the NFL and Ravens were offered the tape just to continue to smear their names.

If you just stop and think and don't take the word of TMZ, it's easy to see that they couldn't get the video

Screw Harvey Levin. I hated TMZ before this whole "Ray Rice video" and they've done nothing to change that. I find any website that peddles for clicks by preying on people's private lives and vulnerable moments disgusting. Not to mention, I'll never respect ANYONE who felt the need to release footage of Tracy Morgan's car crash earlier this year just for the sake of clicks.

Chris Canty said it best tonight, that Rice video should not have been shown on TV, and I don't mean that in protecting or whitewashing Rice. Did anyone ever consider that maybe Janay, the victim that everyone wants to use, wouldn't want her assault on national TV? Who cares, doesn't matter to TMZ. And hey it worked, once again national media coverage and people sourcing them.

Disgusting. Revolting. Classless. This is nothing more than giving TMZ exactly what they want. As if they haven't messed with enough celebrities' lives, there was absolutely no need for them to involve themselves with this fiasco, and they're only making it worse. But hey, that's what they're best at.

I hate TMZ too, but what they did for the Rice situation was absolutely necessary and morally right.

That's not why they did it though.

Partly I can understand this. As I remember reports saying that they had seen more video, and reporters who said that back then are reiterating what they were told I guess. I think Peter King had said something similar back in July if I am not mistaken. So it is interesting that these reports were out there, but then again they get this info from sources, which do not necessarily mean they are correct either. Hopefully no one saw the video. I don't know how you see the video and not ban him for more than 2 games, and both the Ravens and the NFL have stated firmly that they did not see it.

NFL Avoided it because of the LAW

This very well could be a reason- someone truly did have it, but the NFL and Ravens knew that'd be illegal to posses it

I know people are saying that the NFL could not have seen the tape because it was part of an investigation. I get that and I am no legal expert, but hasn't it been reported that the Casino said the NFL could have had it, but never asked? I thought I remembered seeing that. I don't know, the whole thing is blowing up like crazy and seems a bit ridiculous. The end result, they got it right, and have changed their policy for future cases, but I don't see this going away until people go on the record about it.

The NFL asked the legal authorities....  Law enforcement has control over those tapes in the casino's for legal reasons.  I am guessing that this was released because some ex-employee waited until the casino closed to sell it to TMZ.  I wonder myself, if that part of this is even in the coffers....  There may be some sort of investigation with regard to VAWA laws and the re-victimization of Janay.

Yea I understand that can be the case, but then I wonder where these reports were that they had seen the tape. These are not half wit reporters either, they are guys who reported months ago that they had seen it. It all just seems weird to me, and I don't know what to believe. I can't imagine that people saw this video and only gave him a 2 game ban.

That's the point: They likely didn't have it earlier since the video would only be available to the police, attorney, Ray and his fiancé. It's grand jury material, as many have said.

That means that there was no way that video was getting to TMZ, until that casino closes. Any coincidence that the video just happens to get out AFTER it closes? It's extremely unlikely that the video remains in secret for seven months, but just happens to surface after. Someone was no longer in fear of losing their job, because they had none, and just gave the video to TMZ for money.

Does no one think about these things? It's far better for hits and clicks to make someone like a bad guy by doing no research than to due your due diligence and make sure you didn't twist any details or get any facts incorrect.

OR Roger Goodell had the tape the whole time and released it to TMZ because everyone was calling for his head for giving Ray Rice only a 2 game suspension. That way he could go back on his suspension and feel good about an indefinite suspension with the new footage out. I jokingly typed that, by the way, but my dad seriously believes that. :P

WOW..... now conspiracy theories? It's not that cut and dry...  The media has been spewing this stuff for the past two days.   I don't believe it.  Sorry, but there actually ARE laws out there that prevent the release of these types of video's.  As I said the legal authorities have control of these video's for this exact reason.  To control open investigations of violence, crimes, and the like.   There are also VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) laws that protect victims of domestic violence from further damage, and possible retribution.  These laws are very specific.  Truth is that they weren't going to release them to Goodell while the case is still open... Goodell is not law enforcement, prosecution, or a defense attorney.  They weren't going to allow that.  And while this case is open???  it will be for the year that Ray is in this intervention program.  There may be some sort of investigation into the release of it as well as it specifically relates to the VAWA laws.  Only time will tell.

Like I also said...  It's my guess that after this casino closed, some two-bit employee got paid a bazillion bucks to turn it over to TMZ.  Just the fact that they released it at 4 am should tell you something....

The sleaze bag channel is now trying to milk as much mileage out of Ray Rice as it can... Gees how low will some people go to advance themselves?

To me TMZ and its owner are simply vermin of earth that need to be spat on, and discarded into the trash.... not because they outed the video, but the timing of its release stunk to high heavens... they just baited the NFL and the Ravens into a stance, let things cool down and wham! the release the 2nd video. I would really be more curious to find out when TMZ had the 2nd video in its possession. That will tell us everything we need to know.

Now that is an extremely plausible conspiracy theory. If they had possession of the video for some time now (especially if they are now trying to out that the NFL had access to it), why wait this long to release it unless it is simply meant to sensationalize the story even more and get ridiculous press out of it for themselves??

We could have some fun with this! I suggest Goodell and the Ravens brass wear gloves fro a while. Don't risk leaving your prints around anywhere, they can be lifted. TMZ is getting desperate. lol

Goodell must go! As posted  above the NFL did know and covered up the security tape from the elevator. There is no room for this lying piece of crap in the league any more than all the players he judges! The owners must and should have him removed from his position because he does not have the moral fortitude to step down on his own.! Come on Roger, game over!!

You have to wonder about the validity of the claim. This report came out pretty late, compared to everything else, so the source could be fishy.

If it is true, I would wonder if the Ravens were sent it too.

A law enforcement official, who asks not to be named because he broke the law is claiming he sent it to an NFL official, who he refuses to name for fear he will expose the law-breaking.

Right...

And Goodell, who denied knowledge of it and probably refused to see it because it was obtained illegally, now says he wants to be judged on his actions going forward.

Too bad he couldn't afford the same consideration for Rice.

Sigh. Remember back in the offseason when we couldn't wait for the season to begin so this would all die down? I miss those days too.

I pulled the below from another post I made in the video thread.

As a Steeler fan I almost feel bad for you guys, the fans didn't do anything to deserve this......almost ;)

It's will be an EPIC firestorm if it turns out the NFL and possibly our Ravens had seen this. ESPECIALLY after saying they hadn't. So incredibly ugly.

Ya know, I believe the Ravens didn't see it. I know our FO has too much integrity to have seen it and not done anything about it. I truly believe that. I do have trouble believing that the NFL didn't get it, if that report is true.
