[News] Ravens Awarded Defensive Tackle Christo Bilukidi Off Waivers

Hey, hey... I get that you're a Rainey-fan and grab every opportunity to make it look like it was a bad decision to let him go - but you shouldn't neglect reality. You said Rainey was so good in the pre-season - turned out he was more than bad, yielding about 2 YPC. Now he's average at best in the first game, you don't thnik he was bad...

My advice is still the same: consult the statistics. They don't lie - and they'll reveal you how Rainey sunk like a rock in water after a good start in Tampa, being a worse-than-average RB by the end of the season - and how he was anything but convincing this pre-season.

And there's something I don't get: you're a Ravens fan. Wouldn't it be better for you, if you finally admitted the obvious, that it's been proved the right decision to let him go? Why do you keep insisting, despite the stats, that it was a mistake to let him go? Why is it better for you, a Ravens fan, to insist the Ravens made a mistake than being happy that they made the right decision?

No I'm a Rainey fan and why are you looking up stats they are useless. Lets talk about the difference between Bobby Rainey and Bernard Pierce. Bobby Rainey carried the Bucs in two of their last three wins last season. Bernard Pierce has never in his career carried the Ravens. Thats a fact. Type in Bobby Rainey on NFL.com it will come up that he carried the Bucs over the Dolphins and the Falcons.  That is fact! Ray Rice has carried the Ravens many games. That is fact. Bobby Rainey struggled because teams committed solely to the run because their starting quarterback for the Bucs is trailer park trash. Show me a 71 yard touchdown by Bernard Pierce or a headline that comes anywhere near close to Bernard Pierce winning games.

@Edballhawkreed -- you do realize Rainey also got into a game this weekend, and also fumbled and looked generally pretty bad, right? Let's not pretend we let some superstar slip through our fingers.

We did in case you were wondering... The Ravens editors acknowledged it a few articles back when Touissant was being put on PS the first time. When he started the first time what happened? He ran all over the Falcons and Dolphins last year. I'm stating this when I bring up Bobby Rainey over a player like Bernard Pierce...

I'll ask you this from a fan standpoint and you give me your honest answer because this is how I judge players... When Ray Rice runs the ball do you feel like their is potential to be a large gain on every snap. Basically, are you excited to see him touch the ball and confident in his ability to contribute? Do you think Bernard Pierce has shown you anything that can match that level of production? When Bobby Rainey was here he had 23 yard rushing touchdown. A 71 yard touchdown  on a bubble screen pass(Ray Rice level production). Seriously. how many long runs have you seen from Bernard Pierce? This what runs through my mind when I watch players. Basically, do you have the potential to better than the current starter or do you bring something different to the table. Taliaferro is more of a power back than Pierce. I hear fans talk about how he could be the next Jamal Lewis. How do you feel about Bernard Pierce potential based on what he shows you? Can he be the back that carries the team when the passing game is struggling like ray Rice did when Joe Flacco got here. Who do you think would be better fit Pierce or Rainey? Thats how I judge players...

I think to clear up the secondary statements, Ravens fans still aren't sold on Brown. I'm not sold on him either but he did play well last game besides the TD thrown to Green. That's the issue that we have about him. He's always getting beat on those deep ball, one on one routes. If we're going to rely on him to be the back up or even start, he has to learn how to react to those plays. It's no reason for a receiver to blow past him and he's late reacting because that's what it is, late reaction to the route. He either needs to fix that lingering issue or bring someone in that can get the job done.

Besides that I like the signing. Not sure who the guy is but I'm quite sure our coaches will get some production out of him.

The Bengals just kinda knew what was going to happen. The Ravens didn't really run the ball, threw primarily short routes, and made Steve Smith and Dennis Pitta their primary targets. It was incredibly easy to just sit on those routes. The offense became much more efficient once Forsett got going, Flacco took some deep shots, and the receivers started holding onto the ball.

I'm all for Todd Gurley

Yes,... Agree!   That's why I'm convinced that the "Kubiak-Way" will become the new Ravens Way, absent a Ray Lewis Ed Reed-anchored defense! I like the deep pass being used as an alternative attack rather than a regular play!

This year, we'll have an opportunity to evaluate our skill players, i.e. can Torrey step up his game? Can Forsett carry the load? Can Bernard Pierce stay healthy? Was the Steve Smith deal worth it? Can the O-Line dominate?

I'll take any 3 of those 5 questions as improvement over last year even if we still only manage an 8-8 considering all the Hoopla this week!

Hope the solid Pierce outing last night made you see the light. Lets not rewrite history -- Rainey had one and a half good games for Tampa last year, after a few awful ones for Cleveland, and then teams made adjustments and the yardage dropped off. He wasn't good last week in limited action -- I don't know what you were watching. Even Tampa regards him as just the backup. And in just the couple of carries he had last week, yes, he fumbled one. So I still don't get the whining, a year later. He wasn't the worst guy we ever had on the team, but we cut better players than him after preseason pretty much every year.

Sure, It would be nice to be able to keep every practice squad guy that ever donned a Raven uniform, but even if we still had him this year I think he'd still be pretty low in our depth chart, well behind Pierce, and maybe losing playing time to our rookie, who also is impressive in the preseason but with a more prototypical power back build that fits the Kubiak running game better.
