Ray Rice Jersey Exchange?

20 posts in this topic

Hello, I am posting for the first time here and would like to request that the moderators move this thread to the Ravens Talk Folder, for I feel its a general topic of significant importance that should be shown there.

I'm not one for typically posting on forums, but the recent events have caused so much of a stir in me that I truly feel that my opinion needs to be heard in front of fellow fans and the organization. I used to be a huge fan of Ray Rice. I live in NJ and close by to Rutgers. I followed him straight out of college and into the Baltimore franchise. He was and is an amazing athlete and someone I definitely respected as a player. I tried my best to pick him in drafts, loved playing him in Madden, and naturally purchased his jersey to wear on game day. The recent events have shattered that respect and completely turned around my perception of the man and like many, left me in shock that something like this has happened with one of our greatest players. I am now left with the sad truth that I have a symbol of support for Ray, and it's something that I will never use again. Not being one for casually throwing $100 bucks into the garbage, I'm left with the question of what to do with this jersey.

When the Aaron Hernandez fiasco broke out, the Patriots organization had a great idea that I believe the fans truly appreciated. For those that don't know or remember, their Pro Shop held an "Exchange Weekend". In it, fans could return their Hernandez jerseys of authentic (as in, not fake) quality for a similar one of another player. In my opinion, it was a class-act move for the organization and a gesture that truly was for the fans.

I would like to submit to the Baltimore Ravens Organization to have a similar exchange program where fans can trade in their Ray Rice jerseys for another player's.

I can no longer walk around wearing something that I will conscientiously feel awkward wearing. While I understand that the situation is much different that the Hernandez event, the principle remains the same.

So, that's one fans opinion. I'm sure this will be popular with some, and not with others. But this fan had to speak his mind.

I agree 100% I have been calling around local shops all day to find out if any local shops were doing a jersey exchange not for my jersey but my wifes! she refuses to wear a Rice jersey ever again! The kicker is it was a $140 jersey when i got it for her even tho its a Reebok Jersey I think the Ravens should do the exchange I mean the stitched jerseys were not cheap! and now its just a closet filler! Sad Sad day. Truly.

I can tell you that the organization is listening to what fans are saying and we are relaying your concerns to them also. They do care about the fans on this very sensitive situation.

honestly im seriously disappointed my wife and I had met Ray a few times training camp events etc, and he is the last person I personally would have ever thought to have done something like this. It's a huge disappointment to Raven Nation, although I do not disagree with the Ravens decision I think they should have made this decision sooner, and this is coming from someone who used to be a HUGE Rice fan. I do hope the organization is listening to the fans. As far as an earlier post I have to say I know a few Pat's fans that truly did love the fact that they did do the exchange, I couldn't quite understand their pain, until this year.

. They are listening and trying to come up with a plan, the logistics have got to be a nightmare. I will keep post here as soon as I know anything. My grandson's first jersey is a Rice.

so sorry about your grandson's first jersey, its truly a shame, was such a great role model until this. I did see the facebook post about the stadium shops. does that also include the online shop of the ravens or nflshop for those of us who cannot make it to the stadium? I doubt that there's much info available on that at this time Im sure that has turned to nightmare mode for all involved deciding on the exchange program and PR and Marketing, it is very nice to hear that the Ravens are trying to do the right thing by the fans tho. Im glad we have a open fourm here to discuss the situation after seeing some of the posts on facebook all you can do is shake your head at people.

posting as another HUGE Rice Fan from the beginning, and I wish him and his family to heal and I wish other Rice fans to also heal from this trauma...

As far as the jersey exchange, I also want to ask that more dates be set throughout the 2014 season for people who can not make it in September to the stadium.

Yes, he was an outstanding player-- but what you wear becomes a strong symbol of all the actions that person did on and off field. Rice was the first and only jersey I ever bought and I'm sad about it, but, just feel uncomfortable and ashamed as a woman wearing it anymore, regardless of what other people think.

Please let us know what additional dates / times /locations for future jersey exchanges should be. Thanks.

I emailed with my boss Admin 3, he needs to speak with the VP in charge of the jersey exchange and can not do so until Monday, so that is all I have for you right now.

Well thank you! I tried to call the store myself to find out if they are atleast doing mail in orders to send a return label and such but got a recording they were closed. I do hope you all have better luck finding out some info, just want to be able to get my wife a jersey she'll once again wear.

Also 26-6 :-) that was a great game!

. Because of the Thursday nite game everyone is off until Monday, and I'm not sure but the stadium operations runs a normal business schedule un less the team is home.

I, like many others are trying to find a remedy of what to do with my Ray Rice jersey.  I am a Baltimore fan that lives in California and the current exchange program leaves me with no solution.  Please let me know if the Baltimore Ravens are going to be a stand up organization and support the out of area fans as we continue to support them.
