Forsett & Taliaferro: Our new #1 and #2 Backs?

147 posts in this topic

There is no doubt that Lorenzo should be our #1 Back. He is a Bruiser, a Load, and a Beast!! He is the best raw back since Jamal Lewis that can dictate the way our Offense goes. You can set up everything off of him, play action, screens, etc. Just pure tough yards up the gut wearing out defenses. Forsett is a change of pace speedy back. Unfortunately defenses are expecting pass when he is in so Kubes needs to keep them off balance.

T Dog really made the Browns change their game plan, and Flacco benefited from it. Flacco would have had a terrible game of the Browns didn't have to respect our running game. I really dint know how we won that game but hell yea lol

'Zo just needed opportunity. I was pissed that we drafted this "unknown back" in the fourth, but I'm glad to say I feel stupid for that now. I was really impressed with his ability to see the open holes, and the gaps forming. Not to mention, he was decent getting outside too, which isn't his strong suit. Regardless of Pierce's status for next week, he Taliaferro needs the carries and see what he does against a stout Carolina defense.

Bye bye Pierce?

He won't be re-signed unless its super cheap and to a back up deal.  Pierce is hurt far too often.  Taliaferro just has that "it" football ability.  He just knows how to play the HB position, doesn't shy from contact and often initiates it.

If I'm Harbaugh, I'm giving Taliaferro the ball 20 times a game no matter what happens.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Taliaferro. He like like he'll be great. But so did Pierce his first year. I hope he continues to improve and I'm one of his biggest fan but let's wait and see. If he keeps it up, he's the guy.

'Zo

 Zo.  I like that.

Hopefully it catches on.

I was a fan in pre season, but he ran mostly against third string.  I wasnt sure how he was going to look in regular season against starters.

yeah no different.  He is a beast.  The Ravens have missed Jamal so terribly. We now have our new Jamal.  He is a ponder, he is a clock eater, he is a play maker.

I might think about getting his jersey as well.   ( but I am not made of money )

I still really like Pierce - he just can't take too many carries. Taliaferro played great, and Forsett is great at finding the hole and hiding behind his linemen, but Pierce is still the best at breaking tackles. I think we all knew this run game would be much improved.

I disagree pierce is better breaking tackles than Lorenzo.

Yeah I still think the number one role is Pierce's to lose for the time being (and I'm sticking by my pick for him to improve over the next few weeks), but it's great to have two quality RBs behind him to reduce the carries and make good situational plays.

the 31 yarder isnt though

If it's the run I'm thinking it is, LT really didn't do anything special on the play. The hole was huge and there was no one there on the second level until he got to the safety.

Rbs aren't a problem. One has speed the other power, RBs are the mostly the same in the NFL, but for a very select few. Most important is blitz pick-up and not fumbling.

Yeah it was a massive hole opened up by Rick Wagner, if you watch that play again his block was text book perfect.

I have always liked Pierce, and I know he is now the senior back, buuuuutttt,

It doesnt take a Rocket Scientist to see that LorenZO is truly something special we havent seen in years and imhp is a stronger better bruising back that defenses dont want any parts of. I cant say the same for Pierce.

That being said, it was pretty obvious that Pittsburg was having Great success in the short passing game, getting rid of the ball really fast. Thst bodes well gor Forsett

Am I the only one who literally doesn't care who the RB is? I mean we've seen all three of them get a pretty good sample of carries, and all of them looked pretty good.

If the offensive line keeps blocking the way it is, it shouldn't really matter who the RB is.

I don't think we need a HB early next year.  Think we can milk one more year out of Forsett as a 3rd down back and roll with Pierce and Tali next year.  I think Pierce will be more than adequate when given the reigns for an entire year.  Just has to stay healthy.

I'd pass on HB next year and wait on Derrick Henry

That's the key right there!
