Forsett & Taliaferro: Our new #1 and #2 Backs?

147 posts in this topic

UDFA Stephen Houston. Google this kid's Pro day - you have to see it to believe it. The Pats signed then cut him for some Belichick midget wunderkind who's gone already. The Steelers had 8 RBs and kept him on after the first cutdown, but he didn't make the final. He only had 2 carries. Kid hasn't had a chance IMO. He loves running over people. 6' 230 lb. 4.4 speed, 11 ft jump, 40"vert, 27 reps. A Ravens kind of player.

I say Jim should do us a solid and trade us Lattimore for that nice Boldin deal we gave him. Not that I think it was bad to trade Boldin and I'm not sure how great Lattimore will be but it would sure be nice

That could be a little iffy because they just cut James, but with Hyde and Gore firmly entrenched, I could see it happening.

Can we give it at least 2 games before screaming for outside help? We did face one of the better defenses in the league even without Burfict.  I think Pierce can bounce back and make a good 1, 2 punch with Forsett.  If not give Taliaferro a try.

Yes Pierce fumbled and was benched the entire game for it (stupid I mean really), but he gives the Ravens their best chance to win.

Based upon what?  Last years performance?  This year's preseason?  Pierce has shown me nothing since the 2012 season.  Time for us to look elsewhere.

Last year's no one including Rice could perform with how horrible our line was. When Pierce had to carry the mail for Rice he still was able to average about 3 yards a carry. Is that good under normal standards? No. Considering we had the worst run blocking line in the league. Yes.

His performance during the preseason was fine. He barely got any attempts in g3 (4) so if thats the sample size game you want to play its hilarious.

We will need to agree to disagree then.

At this time I like more out of what I see with Forsett than PIerce.  I know snaps were limited for Pierce in the Bengals game.  But Forsett seemed more impressive during preseason and seemed to cut and find the hole quicker.

Time will tell which fills the number one spot.  But thus far, Forsett has been the top performer.

Pierce needs to regain confidence in his line and regain confidence in his body. He appears to avoid contact more than ever right now. But I could be wrong

From the looks of this game, it looks like it will be Pierce and Forsett although I think Taliaferro could make some noise later.

On a different note, doesn't this remind you of 2008 when we had McGahee, he who must not be named, and Le'Ron McClain? Those were some fun times...

You know who I mean lol, from the talk of him on here though I think just saying his name could lead to a furious string of posts on this innocent thread so I thought I would try to spare it.

This does feel like 2008 though

I agree. If they let Taliaferro run a few, it would REALLY feel like 2008.

I'd rather had Gurley or Gordon if we are going for a back in round 1, Gurley is a monster and Gordon is not only a great back but has been coached by our RB coach before. Yeldon to me has looked thoroughly unimpressive

i dont even believe yeldon is the best RB on his own team, ive always been a kenyan drake fan

Unfortunately i haven't been following college FB too much this year, i have really difficult classes at my university so im pretty much busy all the time even on the weekends. All I've seen parts of games and just from what I've seen i havent liked Yeldon at all, i don't really know who Drake is. But then again I loved Trent Richardson out of Bama and i hated Lacey big time, so i guess its more than possible that I'd be wrong about Yeldon, but i still don't see us taking him even though Ozzy loves Bama players

I don't think we need a HB early next year.  Think we can milk one more year out of Forsett as a 3rd down back and roll with Pierce and Tali next year.  I think Pierce will be more than adequate when given the reigns for an entire year.  Just has to stay healthy.

Hay man, we all have that one position that we can't evaluate to save our lives, mine happens to be RBs, I've been wrong way more than I've been right when it comes to them

I agree with ya there. RBs are difficult to evaluate and systems play a huge part. I still love Trent though ... still think he could be a productive guy. Id love him as a Raven.

I'm hit and miss with him, it seems he just has gone down hill since his rookie year. His rookie year was great and it looked as though he could be a very good back in the NFL, but he just got worse and worse since then. If he were to get cut and we got him cheap i would be all for it, but i wouldnt trade for him, the Colts would never give anyone a good deal on him after giving up a 1st rounder to get him. I still think he has potential but i wouldnt be willing to gamble much if anything on him at this point

Not sure how I feel about Pierce right now. He doesn't always make the right read, and he doesn't hit the hole as hard as he used to. Forsett, on the other hand, hits the hole every run like a bat out of hell.

If Pierce doesn't get it together by the bye week or around then, I think we see Taliaferro come in.

I agree. I don't feel this kid has the vision he was expected to have. He certainly isn't the McGahee clone they were hoping he would be to this point. Maybe he'll change my mind, I sure hope he does.

Great to see they finally started Taliaferro. Be interesting to see how much his quiet fourth quarter owed to Cleveland adjusting, but I think he's a natural fit in this system (been saying that since before the draft) and I love what I saw today!
