Forsett & Taliaferro: Our new #1 and #2 Backs?

147 posts in this topic

Is this a thing? Are we doing this?

Since LaDanian was my favorite, I am totally cool with calling him LT.

Gonna pick him up in fantasy, I don't see Forsett being the long play and Pierce just looks lazy.

Doesn't his last name mean iron cutter in Italian? We'll probably end up calling him something related to that then.

Wouldn't mind taking a look at Seastrunk.   He wasn't that bad in PS and was on a deep Redskins squad.  He wouldn't contribute anytime soon though.  Just a longer play.

Since I routinely destroy people for spelling Boldin with an e or any other player misspelling, I think LT is best. Ha!

Eh I'd give the nod to pierce for that just because he has had 3 years in the system for LT who has had a few months.

Regardless looks like we are screwed on Thursday. Forsett gets the start

It would make more sense Pierce gets hooked for poor performance overall than the one fumble but other than that Forsett worries me as I don't think he can be a feature back as proven by his time in seattle.

Time in the system doesn't have to do with pass blocking skill. Ray was in the system for six years and not that good

Not to mention that it's a new system anyways. History in Cam's system doesn't mean as much now. Out of the three, I think LT has the most natural ability to be a pass blocker. He just needs a bit more experience.

I think LT is the best secondary back the Ravens have. I don't know that he could start, but he could certainly back up Todd Gurley

If we play like I hope we will, we won't get a sniff at Gurley. Let's try for Yeldon or Gordon.

With how undervalued backs are, I wouldn't be shocked to see if the Ravens got a cracked at him

Ravens should've drafted Carlos Hyde! They had their chance at him, he was sitting there for them and they passed on him. He's gonna be a beast in S.F.!

Well they might be signing LaMichael James since he was waived today but I doubt it.

Well, I guess at this point they need help so, whoever they can get will help.

I'm sorry but, Pierce(if he stays heatlhy) and Forsett aren't gonna cut it for the whole season. More than likely one or both will get hurt and then where will they be?

So Did they announce who the starting runningback was going to be for Thursday?

Harbaugh was asked at the presser. He said Pierce and Forsett and some LT. So no, we don't really know.

I think that, in light of yesterday's loss and the news today, the offense and the RBs especially ball out. They have something to prove. I was once in a very similar position to what Pierce was in right now, back in my playing days, and I knew that I was going to tear it up. Going into senior year, I was a backup, and the guy ahead of me got expelled. I took my opportunity, and I think our backs will too. It's motivation, even if it might not seem like it.

I think we are good to go.  I'm fine with the current combo in Forsette, Pierce (maybe? lol), and I can see a serious case being made for Tali in anything even sniffing the goal line.  5 yards and out, get him the ball. Dude is a truck.

For a year, we'll be rolling with these three running backs, and honestly, I think they'll go with whoever has the hot hand. Pierce didn't, got benched, and Forsett heated up. The backfield is going to be very, very muddy this year. But in the draft, there's no way we're not drafting a running back in either the first or the second. With the way running backs have been falling, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gurley fall to us, and I don't think we'd think twice running to to podium.

Na, you don't want that headache on your roster. I'm sure Jim told John he'd be better off with another back.

I say Jim should do us a solid and trade us Lattimore for that nice Boldin deal we gave him. Not that I think it was bad to trade Boldin and I'm not sure how great Lattimore will be but it would sure be nice

You were a running back? I thought you played line for some reason

You just have to wonder about his health after that knee injury. I'd have to imagine he's going to be at a loss for explosiveness and agility with it taking almost two years to heal.

The 49ers could afford to give him up.  But its not a good sign he wasn't cleared this year.

This is funny. Pierce is still gonna be our feature back. Lorenzo doesn't have pass pro completely down and Forsett is a 29 year old journey man who has never had a feature type role.

Yes Pierce fumbled and was benched the entire game for it (stupid I mean really), but he gives the Ravens their best chance to win

I sincerely want to believe this.

I wanna see Taliaferro get some carries for sure... nothing wrong with RB by committee, but the hot hand needs to tote the rock. Forsett has been a force all offseason.

No, I did play line. I meant similar position as in situation.

I understand what you mean now. I had an opportunity to start at tight end after an injury and subsequently got injured myself

I don't think we need a back, nor do I think we should or will draft one very highly next year.  Why - because Gary Kubiak has always managed to find guys who fit his system, especially in later rounds and undrafted e.g. Arian Foster, Steve Slaton (3rd round pick but not highly regarded coming out), or guys off the street e.g. Ron Dayne, Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Clinton Portis - none of those guys was a first round pick, I believe.  Some second rounders, but for the most part mid to late round guys.

Bingo. All Kubiak needs is a guy who can locate a hole and hit it full speed. That's it.

Agreed. The runners that excelled in Houston were not high draft picks.
