Forsett & Taliaferro: Our new #1 and #2 Backs?

147 posts in this topic

Ahh man, more domestic violence. I suppose the Ravens may want to distance themselves from another case like that, although its been dealt with. He's not a feature back, but he's got that top end speed which are RBs don't have, which is interesting.

Whether its dealt with or not doesn't matter, if we were to sign a guy with even the slightest hint of domestic violence on their record it would be a PR disaster, like it or not this is a business and PR isn't irrelevant. We'd become the criminals of the NFL, unfairly typecast as that and that would stick big time, no ticket sales and plummeting merchandise sales would absolutely ruin us

I think Forsett has to be the feature back right now after that game. It's going to be running back by committee with whoever is hot at the moment getting the most carries.

one fumble in one game doesn't deserve you a seat at the end of the bench.

To me its one of two things.

1)  The team has serious questions bout Pierce's abilities.

2)  The team wants to send a serious message to Pierce and have him step up.  Perhaps the Ravens even knew the video of Rice would surface shortly and are trying to get Pierce to own up to be a starting back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Forsett starts, but Pierce is given the reigns shortly after.  Of course if Forsett is electrifying that'll be tough to do.

I think we're keeping Forsett, Pierce, Taliaferro and Toussaint and hope that Pierce, Toussaint and Taliaferro look good enough to avoid drafting a RB high unless someone of great value falls to us.

It could explain bringing Toussaint to the active roster.

Eh I'd give the nod to pierce for that just because he has had 3 years in the system for LT who has had a few months.

Regardless looks like we are screwed on Thursday. Forsett gets the start

It would make more sense Pierce gets hooked for poor performance overall than the one fumble but other than that Forsett worries me as I don't think he can be a feature back as proven by his time in seattle.

Come on man - BP might have got benched for that fumble but if he made more than 14 yards on his 6 rush attempts, maybe he wouldn't be. He doesn't produce.

Forsett will definitely be our #1, i had know idea he was that good. Pierce and Talifero will battle for the #2.. Pierce is a quick shifty back, and talifero is a power runner. Tryna figure out why Flacco threw 62 passes

Not a permanent one ... but it is almost standard procedure for coaches to bench a RB post-fumble.

That said, I think the benching was beyond the single fumble. Pierce was not performing well prior to the fumble. He didn't pick his spots to turn north/south where gains of 6 and 7 yards were available, but rather danced to the outside, got tripped up and got 3. Trying to establish the run game against a tough front is not about breaking the big one in the 1st quarter, but is about getting manageable 2nd and 3rd downs. Pierce wasn't doing that and the switch to Forsett seemed to pay off.

I expect Pierce will be a focus of the coaching staff and they'll emphasize what he needs to do. I believe he'll be in as the #1 back again vs. Pittsburgh, although, again, with a relatively short leash.

Forsett looked really good out there. His age doesn't really matter considering he's only had 358 carries in his entire career. And this may be his best opportunity yet to get a big workload and shine. Maybe not the long term answer, but he could produce a lot of yards this year.

Yup, between WRs, secondary and pass rush we need next draft, there won't be too many high picks left for tailbacks.

Ravens cut running back Fitzgerald Toussaint

So... hope someone can explain this

Yeah, well, I'm not capable of doing that. I had just been thinking how it is a good thing we made sure we retained his services in light of the fact that we're down one RB.

However, I guess it speaks to the fact that they decided that Forsett is a keeper and we only want to carry 3 RBs ... but then I don't know why we would have put Fitz to the active roster in the first place - even before the Ray Rice release.

He's the next Bobby Rainey.

Cutting two RBs in 24 hours is an interesting set of circumstances. That's gotta be a "watch this space" thing.

Lamicheal James probably.. It kills two birds with one stone. Could give us a full time return man, and a 3rd down back if we do roll with Justin

You just said Forsett was undersize and now you suggesting  Lamicheal James whom is the same height as Forsett

Got the answer

Ravens awarded defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi off waivers from Bengals, cut running back Fitz Toussaint: http://www.baltimoresun.com/bal-source-ravens-awarded-defensive-tackle-christo-bilukidi-off-waivers-from-bengals-20140908,0,5188374.story

Any mention of whether we are sending Fitz back to the PS? It would seem we'd like to keep him in our camp, in the event of an injury.

RB's are as good as their line. I am fine with Forsett and LT.

Is this a thing? Are we doing this?

Since LaDanian was my favorite, I am totally cool with calling him LT.

Gonna pick him up in fantasy, I don't see Forsett being the long play and Pierce just looks lazy.

He's going to be third string RB for the Bucs?

The guy fans get excited about because of a few preseason flashes.

... and then he's going to be the next third stringer for the Bucs.
