Forsett & Taliaferro: Our new #1 and #2 Backs?

147 posts in this topic

Rice was cut this afternoon and Bernard may not get another snap this season, will the Ravens roll with our FA pick up and draft pick or will they be looking FA for a potential starter? Or maybe trade? What you think?

I would support this. Forsett did well and Tali was solid. What about BP though?

We shouldn't give up on him. I believe it will be Forsett/BP sharing most of the work load. Tali could get some time as well

We need another back

We've got 4, plus a FB. A 5-man backfield is about as big as you'll get in the league. Toussaint has to stay on the 53 for 3 weeks because he was elevated from the PS, I believe.

This is funny. Pierce is still gonna be our feature back. Lorenzo doesn't have pass pro completely down and Forsett is a 29 year old journey man who has never had a feature type role.

Yes Pierce fumbled and was benched the entire game for it (stupid I mean really), but he gives the Ravens their best chance to win.

Pierce can't stay healthy

Forsette is undersized

You know my opinion on Taliafero. And who are the other two?

I don't like this

I know he hasn't taken a down in the regular season, but I'd like to see what Fitz can do before signing someone else.

I think Pierce is still going to play a significant role if he can stay healthy.  I don't count on Forsett sustaining this production.  I think the team wanted to send a strong message  to Pierce.  Hopefully it stuck.

They're running backs.  The more important thing is getting the blocking right.  It can't get any worse than last year in terms of production.

Toussaint and Juszczyk. Who do you cut? More importantly, who do you pick up?

This is true. Kubiak's system is more important than RB, where we're pretty deep still.

Lamicheal James probably.. It kills two birds with one stone. Could give us a full time return man, and a 3rd down back if we do roll with Justin

Of the various concerns I have for this team, the running back is not one of them. We have several capable running backs. Having a running back by committee type of year with no clear starter is very doable in this particular style of offense. It will be fine.

LT is probably the most solid blocking back they have

Eh I'd give the nod to pierce for that just because he has had 3 years in the system for LT who has had a few months.

Regardless looks like we are screwed on Thursday. Forsett gets the start

It would make more sense Pierce gets hooked for poor performance overall than the one fumble but other than that Forsett worries me as I don't think he can be a feature back as proven by his time in seattle.

Sadly we just don't have a feature back now. Pierce I like, but he's not durable nor does he give you that pop you need in a #1 RB. LT looks to be pretty decent but he doesn't have the speed (at least from what I've seen) to hit the home runs. Forsett played well enough for us but he's a journeyman.

Maybe you bring in Lamichael James, at least he's got top end speed. Other then that we're kind of stuck with what we've got now.

Lamichael james is good but Forsett is undersized? 5'9" 194 to 5'8" 194...that logic doesn't follow at all, if anything James is undersized for his height. We already have a full time return man + a backup in Deonte that is better than James. Return man isnt a problem, so basically you're killing no birds with one stone...

TJ Yeldon in the first rd next year. Bank It

I'd rather had Gurley or Gordon if we are going for a back in round 1, Gurley is a monster and Gordon is not only a great back but has been coached by our RB coach before. Yeldon to me has looked thoroughly unimpressive

I'll go ahead and refer you to the first page, second to last comment, theres 0% chance we go after James, plus he isn't a great RB, he a nice change of pace back but he isn't a feature back

Ahh man, more domestic violence. I suppose the Ravens may want to distance themselves from another case like that, although its been dealt with. He's not a feature back, but he's got that top end speed which are RBs don't have, which is interesting.
