No doubt, this is going to be a tough game for us if Pittsburgh can do what Cincinnati did, though I think we match-up better with Pittsburgh than we do the Bengals. Pittsburgh has those long DL as well, but they play a 3-4 as opposed to a strict 4-3, and that should benefit us to an extent. Furthermore, Pittsburgh is very thin at OLB, which will likely mean their pass rushers will get tired as the game goes on, especially if we manage to run a hurry-up offense--something of which Joe Flacco has shown to be adept at conducting.

Pittsburgh will very likely look at how the Bengals won the trenches, and that was by using their arms to bat down passes and/or distract Flacco's throwing mechanics. After watching the game again, I came away convinced the long arms of the Bengals and their  technique for waving their arms in the air really threw Joe off quite a bit. That explains a lot of the bad I saw from Joe. Still no excuse, but it does make sense to me when I viewed the game again. Pittsburgh has some nice length to its DL, so hopefully our OL learns their lesson and remembers you need to control the arms of those DL as well as their body and hands.

Pittsburgh's secondary is very suspect, so I do expect quite a bit of passing again but we should see more running as well since their guys are young, inexperienced, and a bit developing in terms of body composition. We can run over them and we can pass on them. It won't be easy, but I believe we can pull off a win.

I think Webb is better when healthy. But regardless of who is better, I think Webb matches up with Brown much better than Jimmy does. Brown is only 5'10'' and is extremely quick and elusive. Webb covers those type of WR's more effectively. Jimmy at 6'2'' can have trouble with smaller guys.

Jimmy shut Brown down in their match ups

100%. It was sanders who gave us fits.

It was usually who ever Jimmy wasn't guarding and who Brown was. Sanders did definitely at times

Just what we needed when facing the Steelers. A huge distraction.

Agree and this one is going to be difficult to overcome.

Especially being in a short week and on prime time.

old and slow..........explain how a defense that only has two starters over 30 and is starting two rookies and a second year player is old and slow? our defense is young and raw not old and slow

taylor and troy should have retired last year and now they're out there with their walkers chasing teenagers.

ok so if a defense has two old guys out of 11 they are old.......whats the limit, if a defense has one old guy are they old......because if thats the case most of the defenses are old

How can I be a real fan of my team if I don't know our enemies like the back of my hand. You guys did a great job selecting and developing him. Pure speed(DeMarcus Van Dyke) isn't everything and he plays faster than you would think because he's a natural cover guy. Hmm, that's been my philosophy when dealing with them but wasn't sure how I felt about a steeler fan doing it. That being said your not half bad, and we could use the extra knowledge. By the way, was DeMarcus just too raw to refine or was he just a speedster with no potential as a cover man?

I knew we weren't ready for the Steelers yesterday and now I KNOW we aren't ready. Distractions everywhere.

I agree that knowing your rivals is important. And thanks for the compliment, I enjoy talking football and I like to do it here probably most of all. And DeMarcus had so much potential, he was a favorite of mine but he just never seized his opportunities. He was raw and he would flash brilliance but only here and there.

Historically, this defines the times we play our best football. But, it's Pees, so, IDK if the defense is up to the task.

Seems Suggs doesn't like that we released Rice (rumors) so not sure how that will play out.

We'll see on Thursday.

I personally like it that its a short week. The Bengals loss leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The Steelers did give up 27 pts to the Browns so hopefully our offense can do just a little bit better.
