He was on point for the first half. Are you kidding me? What game were you watching? He was hitting the WRs in the hands and they were dropping them. You are apparently blind. He had that inexcusable end of the half play. But besides that he played well.

I agree .

I think that's everyones problem.  If you're going to run that, be damned sure that Jimmy is on AJ.

But people are criticizing him for his play calling when I think that he may have called a nearly perfect game with what he had to deal with. I even think the TD wasn't that bad because we would have lost guaranteed via FG. Everything everyone is blaming on the defense and Pees is tied into the offense's failures when you take a step back and look at it. Once the irrational anger is gone I like what Pees did today.

It's the silly mistakes that annoy me. The drops, the fumble, the taking the sack at the end of the half, the missed blocks. You'd almost rather just get totally outplayed than lose like that.

Second half was promising, if our offense could play a whole game like that we will be fine.

Agreed. The lack of pass rush was annoying though.

Let's give the Bengals some credit for creativity.  Their offense was set up to get the ball quickly out of Dalton's hands.  When we did bring the blitz -- they ran screens -- and ran them effectively.

At the end of the 1st half -- I'm not sure you should be messing around trying to score a TD with 8 seconds left.  Honestly if it's 12 seconds or so -- then maybe -- but with 8 seconds take the 3 -- and go into the half down 15-3 with the ball at the beginning of the 2nd half.  Too much to do with only 8 seconds and try to call a timeout even if the ball is passed out of bounds.

As far as scheme is concerned -- I saw receivers OPEN quite a bit, which wasn't a situation before against a tough Bengals defense -- we just didn't catch the ball.  It'll get fixed!  I'm not concerned about this loss -- when you consider it's just ONE game in a 16 game season.  Remember there's quite a few things that will get fixed -- and we'll get better as the season progresses.

As far as defense is concerned -- we did well not breaking!   The sky is "falling" mentality is sheer nonsensical rhetoric that doesn't understand this is a 16 game season!

We get Rice back Game 3.  Remember we have a decent Safety coming in Week 7 after he serves his suspension.

As bad as things "appeared" -- there's a saying -- it's never as bad as it seems and never as great as it looks!  Considering we had an opportunity to pull a game out at the end is remarkable as many mistakes as we made in this game.

I still "believe" in the Ravens -- and we'll be fine this year finishing at least 10-6.  Mark my words!

Playcalling was mostly fine to me on the offensive side of the ball. Kubiak can't gameplan around drops and bonehead QB decisions.

Yep the little things like this are what separates a 8-8 and 11-5 team

Yeah, Chykie Brown may have had only one blown coverage; but, the guy was abused all day long. If people thought Cary Williams use to play so much out of position back in the day; well, Brown did an even worse job staying onto his receiver, this afternoon.

Even when Lardarius Webb returns, Brown is still going to be the nickel corner and every, single QB will pick him apart. He's just not good...

I don't Chykie was abuse all day long at all . Our seconary played well overall  until that last play made by Aj Green which in my opinion should not be totally Chykie fault. Stewalt should have kept his eyes on Green and Pees should of had  Green doubled covered at all times if Jimmy Smith isn't covering him

Whoa, didn't even realize this. Against a rookie center too. Just awful.

What I'm trying to figure out is this madness with blitz pick up. Flacco was totally aware of the blitz on the last pay and knew where everybody was, which leads me to believe the protection was called correctly. The free man coming off the edge was the safety, but the tackle and the end are the ones who got to Flacco. That makes me think Wagner was supposed to read the blitz and stay with the end while Yanda dealt with the tackle. Instead he slid to try to slow the safety and left Yanda in no man's land.

I know any Ravens fan knows we have a history with Flacco not recognizing the blitz (see: Polamalu, 2010), but it seems to me like this instance was a failure on Wagner's part. Knowing this, though, if I'm Kubiak I'm rolling Flacco out left to mitigate the risk posed by the 2nd year player. Oh well.

Webb better play on Thursday or we should be prepared to get quick pass, screened, and FG'd to death again.. I guarantee Chykie plays a bunch of snaps next week, this coaching staff flat out refuses to acknowledge that he's a liability out there.

Chykie could get roasted and give up the game winning catch for the next 5 straight games and Pees/Harbs will still throw him out there with the starters. They refuse to learn they're lesson, they refuse to bring in help at a position we desperately need it at. We miss Corey Graham just as much as anyone right now.. Graham and Josh Wilson both got raw deals here, they played their way into a nice contract and got shown the door because they wouldn't play for peanuts.

I agree.  The offense does it's damn job the first half, this game goes differently, but for some reason, people don't hold the offense accountable here.  People act as if the Bengals are some low class team that we should be man handling.  They have one of the most solid rosters in the NFL and for all the mistakes people say Dalton makes, he did enough for his team to win.

Like others are saying though, we do need to figure out how to get pressure.  I don't get why this group is struggling so much to get to the qb.

Do we even run stunts on the d line?  I feel like we don't try anything above the norm and that's what puts our guys up front at a disadvantage.  We're not creating any type of confusion and they know who and how to pick up each man.

Same Joe Flacco, sleeps for a half. Gets some rhythm with the defense giving him dump offs and it looks like an ok day. Problem is he isn't getting paid to play ok.

Physical mistakes are one thing but the dumb mental mistakes are inexcusable. The play with 8 seconds left in the first half was about as dumb a play I've seen a quarterback make and the back to back sacks to end the offenses day was more stupidity.

I had optimism with all the new faces , coach and play book but it's the same Flacco.

All I have to say is HarBooooooo! Once again a poorly coached/managed game! Kamar Aiken, and forsett were the only 2 players that played at a high level. Been calling for Harbs head since last year, when Boldin was gift wrapped to his bro! Harbs will never fire Pees. The Defense looked lost in the beginning of the game! Chykie Brown over Derrick Cox! HarBooooo should be fired for that alone!

I like Flacco but I'm not sold on him post big contract. He has to overcome this adversity he gonna face. Everything not always gonna be perfect like 2012 playoff run. Gotta be a better leader.

If everyone's first rant isn't about the pass rush, then I just don't know what to say..

Andy dalton did not get touched all game... Not a single time...

Imagine flacco with that kind of time

Blitzes don't get guys off blocks. Our problem was we just didn't get off blocks. Suggs, Dumervil, et al just couldn't get off their man. No sense blitzing if you can't shed a block.

The Bengals played terrible today. They didn't even have their defensive anchor most of the game and we fielded a train wreck in our own home.

Stop making excuses and call a duck a duck.

Never thought I'd agree with you but here we are. But I'd add that the receivers were awful too, especially Jones.

Flacco playing hero ball at the end of the 1st half cost us overtime.

Also, Aiken is a keeper. Get Jacoby Jones out of there. What a shame because I thought Jones improved greatly last year.

It's amazing how EVERY YEAR we complain about receivers and nothing is ever done, and the one reliable receiver we finally got was traded away. The legend of Boldin grows everyday.

Even elite receivers have games like Jones did. It was the first game   and it's not really a big deal. Our receivers do need to work on their concentration and hold on to the ball but i do not believe Jones needs to be bench.
