Monroe's poor grade was due to poor run blocking. He had the highest pass protection grade of any of the lineman, followed by KO, then Wagner

I know, that is what I said...

I was quoting your post as a reference for everyone else, but Wagner's pass blocking would have actually been considered above average by PFF, as a note

Got it. Thanks.

The key tonight is communication in pressure adjustments. The Steelers love to confuse. I have confidence in our lines ability to take on vanilla pressures, but they need to point out possible overloads, etc.

In addition, back side zone blockers cannot get beat across their face to the inside. Monroe let this happen a few times last week hurting Pierce's early runs. Example below:

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it Wagner that missed the call on the last sack? I just recall Yanda turning to his right looking for his block and running into Wagner and whoever he was blocking.

That one was all on Joe not adjusting the line and protection. There were two players outside of Wagner and no RB on Joe's side.

Uh it's not just Joe. I'd say it's on the OL as well and even coordinator. Definitely on Joe but it's not only on him.

Yeah, Wagner screwed up on both our last snaps but 7 points down on 4th&9 from their 21 with a minute to go and no time outs, I'd expect 7y QB to make decisions rather than trust basically rookie RT against pretty good D. Especially after what happened on previous snap.

It is on both the OL and Flacco.

Monroe should have communicated that he did not have a rusher outside of him as the DE dropped in coverage, and Wagner should have communicated that he had 2 rushers outside of his right shoulder. Flacco also needed to communicate this. There was no RB in the backfield on this play.

I always was the ultimate Flacco Hater.  Call it what you like,  I see the it factor in players and Flacco needs to many people around him to make him look like he has it.

Great players make the players around them better.  Average players rely on the players around them.  Which one is Flacco?

No he needs 1 WR who can catch the football. People keep claiming "Boldin is the only reason Flacco was good". Basically saying If Flacco had a WR who could get open and catch passes then he would be "good'. I think every QB needs WRs who can get open and catch passes. The Ravens have lacked this type of talent nearly every year of their existence aside from a handful. Peyton Manning does not make WRs better around him, coaches know not to keep people around him who can't catch or get open.

This is an opinion I cannot agree with. His ball placement and football acumen say otherwise.

I put it on OC and Flacco. Nothing the line could have done. They picked up five. Bam, job is done. Safety was unaccounted. Flacco should have called Pitta to the backfield or inline to do a block-release thing. Kubiak should have known a blitz was coming so he should have had a blocking back in there.

Lol, looks like I am the only one placing blame on everyone. Granted, I agree 100% about Flacco and Kubiak. I ultimately place most of the blame on Joe because he didn't make an adjustment, though I'm not sure how much of that is his own doing. Without inside information, I'm left wondering if he was handcuffed or not. Regardless, everyone on or off the field could see they were doing a heavy rush from the strong side and guy went unblocked. It was an OL meltdown, to an extent. There could've been communication on the line to say "Hey, we're about to get strong-side rushed!" I think it came down to cockiness more than anything. I'm guessing Joe saw it and figured he could release it to a WR before they got to him. I'm guessing Wagner and Yanda thought they could handle the guys in front of them. I'm also guessing Kubiak wanted to run a specific play and was fine with the strong-side rush hoping that Joe would be able to perform a quick release. It seemed that the WRs weren't able to separate fast enough and Joe didn't progress fast enough to make it work.

I just see it as a three-way meltdown on the QB, OL and OC. More of an anomaly than a norm.

If you guys are talking about the last sack, there was obviously some sort of screwup with Yanda and Wagner. Yanda chipped the man in front of him, turned to his right and ran smack into Wagner.

And Flacco didnt make any adjustments to his line, move the TE over, audible etc.

This is me venting.  Will somebody start a thread about Brad Jackson.  He is on Comcast sportsnet talking like he was ever good.  What did he have like 54 career tackles?

Hearing this guy talk is killing me.  I dont even remember him as a player.  Clarence Moore was more memorable  and he was terrible.

Considering there were six rushers and five blockers, I put zero blame on oline. Nothing they could have done.

As for the screw up, I think Yanda tried to pass off the first guy to Zuttah, but it ultimately didn't work. Without having knowledge of the call, I can't say what it was. But, I think we can chalk it up to too many rushers and Wagner's rookie inexperience.
