Webb out Sunday?

45 posts in this topic

According to this NFL network reporter that I won't try to spell the name of, Webb is out for sunday. This doesn't seem right does it? I thought all signs pointed to him playing?

Looked down and it said that his back flared up again. Though, that's not a credible source. Don't know what to think of this

Hey All,

First time poster, long time lurker. Go Ravens!

Ahem,

Webb has been one of my favorite players for the past while, enough to finally move me to register and weigh in. I remember just a few short years ago when the secondary was justifyably mortifying.

I think Cary Williams was just signed off of the Titans PS and he was one of our question marks at the time...it's kind of funny now to see the pre-season freak out regarding this crew. IF Webb can play/compliment to Smith dominating the best receivers in the game, the resulting comittee may folllow up just fine.

I read the move and have to think Webb may be playing...dude's amazing, when healthy. He goes hard for sure. It sucks to see such a talent torn up by injuries, but even cooler to see them overcome. Positive Vibes, get it Webby and co!

Great time of year round these parts!

Man, I trust our coaching staff but I can't help but be worried about what should still be a solid Bengals passing attack even without Hawkins and Jones. As I said in another thread, I don't doubt that Brooks and Levine can help at the position if needed and they have some potential there. I just don't know if I would trust a rookie about to play in his first career game or a career backup who just started extensively playing the position this offseason to significantly contribute there in this game. Obviously the staff sees these guys in practice every day and know far more in their evaluations than us and hopefully the pass rush is there every down to the point that it doesn't matter who the nickel/dime back is. But count me among those that are a little nervous about this secondary at the moment, sorry.

The problem today with news reporting of all kinds but especially sports news is there are no editors on Twitter (or some websites...I'm looking at you PFT) to sign off on a story. These insiders can hear a rumor and just report on it. It it turns out to be true they can point and say "See I told you he wouldn't play" and if they are wrong nobody will care on Monday.

The perfect example is that idiot USC player who lied about rescuing his nephew to cover up his hurt ankles. They gladly reported that immediately.

Come one Webby! We need you! If his back isn't better after 6weeks off, he needs surgery ...

Webb's not playing. He's too injury prone for my taste. We need to draft another CB or trade for one. This is getting ridiculous.

I hope he goes, but since he is not 100%, maybe Smith should cover AJ Green.

I'd venture to guess that smith will be on aj green either way.

Haha ohhh man. RELAX. Btw, he is on the field warming up. If he doesn't play someone will step up.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised the reports are legit and he's out. I mean he's been off for I don't know how long. I'm not sure why we restructured him either with his injury history. He's injured practically every year. I apologized for him in the other thread but this is really getting ridiculous now. He's definitely not worth the pay.

His injuries are becoming annoying now. He had back to back ACL injuries (which I don't blame him, but still.) now he is having nagging back problems which probably will go on the whole year is to much for me.

If these injuries problems continue then I'd definitely entertain moving him, whether it's by trade or cut, next off-season. Unless we believe moving him to FS will help with that, which I honestly don't see. FS need to be just as aggressive now as CB with how the passing offense is going. He'll be like Ed Reed at this rate in terms of his body.

This could be a situation where we're easing him back into practice before throwing him into real games. We might want for him to get his feet under him before we throw him out there. That's my hope anyway.

yup, you know its a serious back injury when Webb misses the whole preseason and still isn't ready week 1.

Webby is one of my favorites, but we didn't get much for the contract we've given him. Hopefully he'll be back soon and be able to redeem himself this season.
