Well then apparently the whole board is delusional then. they seem to share the same view.

Because this board is so well informed.

THIS. Our defense is nowhere near good enough for us to compete with elite teams. It would have been nice for the offense to show up in the first half though.

Absolutely true. However, it is difficult for the offense to show up and get anything going when the defense just flat out can't get off the field. 20 mins TOP. One punt. Putrid.

No, they played fairly well for the circumstances they were given. They had to constantly work with a short field the whole 1st half because the offense couldn't get it going.

One punt. ONE PUNT in the first half. Putrid. The offense cannot score from the sidelines. They cannot get anything going with such a lopsided TOP. Defense, once again, can't get off the field.

Can you do better? You'd get crushed out there. Bengals had a new OC we had no idea what their offense was gonna be like but our defense made the adjustments after halftime. Keep overreacting

Andy freakin' Dalton and not one sack. Pees scheme is putrid.

edit: correction, one sack, almost zero pressure otherwise.

More like our offense was 3 and out all first half and couldn't STAY on the field.

No it is true. The defense couldn't get off the field. 5 of 6 offensive drives by the Bengals end with points. Not punts, not turnovers, points. That is a putrid defense. That is NOT getting off the field. You think the offense gets into a rhythm or anything sitting for that long? No they don't.

Sick of the defense apologists around here. We were poop on every side of the ball, defense was just as bad.

Just re-watch the first Bengals possession. Was our defense tired already?

That was just the first drive and it ended in a field goal. Look how many times the Bengals started in our own field or past their 35 yard line.

LOL at our defense being bad. Limiting a team like Cinny to no td until that late bomb and stuff the run proven we are at least ok at d. We don't have a bad d or secondary, just the pass rush was very bad.

defense wasn't have as bad as offense. This isn't the 200 ravens where the pass gaming isn't as big as it is now. teams are going to score and limiting the Bengals to field goals like we did was actually quite amazing.

I will say...Will HIll is a massive upgrade over Elam or Stewart

Elam looks like a 1st round bust to me. He does nothing.

Did you not see the hits Elam was giving today? He was very solid at the SS position if you ask me. Stewart, yeah we could do better but they'll work with that they got until Will Hill comes off suspension.

On offense, It looks like Justin has pretty much won the back up role over Bernard and Steve Smith had to go in the middle a couple of times to get his confidence going. After that, things started to move in our direction scoring-wise. Was really surprised by the amount of drops during the game as well. I believe the game goes in a entirely different direction if a lot of those passes that were dropped were caught early in the game. Flacco was frustrated from lack of WR production and when Flacco gets frustrated, he tends to force things and thats what happend. I think there is a lot to learn from this game. The Bengals gave us their best shot and I think when we head to Cinci next time, its gonna be a much more prepared team.

Elam was one of the positives of the game on Sunday. Had a very decent performance if you ask me, just no big plays really. Other than that he was solid.

Wait we actually did record a sack?

See now ravensdfan; it is all about how one chooses to see things.  Taking your example here; my thought is that if the offense could score TD's while the defense IS playing well enough to limit the bengals to 5 FG's an entire half....we could have won that game.  Just 1 TD before the half.  Just one!  But they couldn't do it!  Now that to me is what is putrid!  Not saying that you're wrong...but we all see things differently!

You're not wrong. I'm just saying that neither unit played the first half. They both decided to show up in the 3rd.
