Week 1 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals

2,718 posts in this topic

It's gonna take at least 2 drives to adjusted to what the Bengals offense wants to do. They are coming with a lot of trickery and deception. Hue Jackson had a great script of 10 plays or so. The defense will have to adjust and make the Bengals play the game they want them to play.

One Drive doesn't make a game.

1st drives are all choreographed. Screens and crap won't work for 60 minutes.

Exactly. The defence should settle down after this.

Pees can't make the players do their assignments....

That's the same excuse you give him every season. At some point you have to admit it is the DC.

No offense, but we always hear that about Pees. When you keep hearing that, there comes a point where you have to place blame on the coordinator for the players not adapting to his schemes and move on from a coach who isn't getting the most out of his guys, for whatever reason. Maybe his schemes are too complex for these guys, I'm not sure. His defense seems to require extreme discipline from the defenders and execution to near perfection. I'm thinking that's why we have this bend-don't-break style of defense. It seems like the guys aren't adapting to his schemes, honestly. But we will see. It's just the first drive.

I admit it's not flashy or creative, but there's a lot of missed containment and missed tackling

I know that's true. It is just way too reminiscient of last year.

Is it just me or does it always seem like either on Offense or Defense, we always need time to get going when the game starts.

OK at least they held them to a FG

Its just dissapointing that its gotten to the point we have to be relieved that we only gave up three points instead of seven because our defense can't make stops anymore

It does require lots of discipline and control from the players. All players have to execute their jobs or it breaks down

Jacoby is also really starting to concern me. He didn't look great returning in the preseason and now he didn't look too great just now. I'm not sure what's up with him.
