How much would a Super Bowl mean to you?

64 posts in this topic

2 Super Bowls really solidifies the Harbaugh/Flacco era as special.  One super bowl is a moment, 2 super bowls is history.

Considering 2 years ago, before I joined this board, I pronounced openly to all who would listen that the Ravens would win three in four years...winning this year would keep me breathing in that prediction. It would be awesome, and I think it would be huge to win behind Harbaugh/Flacco/Rice without the cloud of the previous era hovering over too much. No flukes, we are a dynasty. That's what it would mean to me.

I got way too emotional with that 2012 Super Bowl. After the Denver game I was sweating my veins were popping, I was so emotionally invested in that run. It was everything, Suggs, Reed, boldin, harbs, joe, Torrey, ngata then the Ray Lewis retirement, the rematch vs New England, the lights out In the Super Bowl, not to mention, Webby and ray getting hurt in week 5. We had a rookie kicker. Everything was set up for us to just falter, but it just wouldn't happen. That feeling when josh bynes made the tackle was only replicated later on in the year when my daughter was born. That run was special to me.

Now I want to win this year, just to cement everything, bragging rights, our status as an elite team. The thing is, I think it's possible.

I think it's a question of affirming legacy. We still don't get the respect we deserve and another win would put Joe right up there with the best of the best in term of SB winners. If we keep winning then they can't continue to discredit our success.

I definitely want another ring. I want to win 3 straight Super Bowls. I want that type of a dynasty. I want Joe to have 4 rings to match any other QB. I want the franchise to have at least 5 championships. I'd like 7 total just to shut up the Steelers and any other fans about rings. It'd shut up Brady and Pats fans. I want the dynasty label and the respect that would have to come with winning so much. I hated watching the game last night and seeing Seattle play opening night at home as defending champions. We should have had our season start like that at home. We shouldn't have had to play week 1 on the road.

It's debatable. But people could no longer call us a fluke is what I meant.

Just read everyone's post.. We'd start acting like patriots mid 2000's... Cocky and always winning

Wouldn't mind it at all lol

I want another one for the reputation of Flacco. Though Eli manning is doing his best to disprove this, you don't get 2 rings and still be viewed as a middle of the league quarterback. I am satisfied I got to see my team win one in my lifetime though, not everyone gets that privilege. (Bengals fans) But I am greedy and want more!!!

While the thrill of seeing the Ravens win on Ray's "last ride" would be hard to top, another SB this year would be its equal. Many here are stating the reasons why - people just don't give this franchise the kind of respect I think it deserves.

Beyond that - I have to say that I am somewhat jealous of Seattle. They won the Super Bowl and really got to enjoy that win through the off-season, as they were able to largely keep their championship team in tact and were able to host their first game of the following season. We got neither of those things.

For us, I felt like within 1-2 weeks of our win, the dismantling of the team really put a damper on the enthusiasm of our win. Then the sad situation of not even being able to roll out the banner in our home stadium the next year to open the new season and having to go on the road against the toughest team in the conference was another hit to the feel good story of being champions.

Only thing that could top 2000 would be SB and World Series trophies

Damn you Lee Evans! He catches that pass and we smack the Giants in Superbowl and could have had a good chance of back to back titles.  The more titles we win the closer we get to the Steelers and the more their fan base shuts up.

I think Harbs and Joe really need this SB cuz it will solidify the legacy of Harbs and Joe.  They won the first SB cuz of many pundits saying cuz of Ray and Ed.  This time if they win, no one can find any reason to dispute the greatness of Harbs and Joe legacy.  Lets go get that ring, guys!

i would love another for Sr and dumervile and kubiak

this.

these guys deserve a ring - and Daryl, too. Kubiak, of course, already has a couple, but I'm hoping he's the redemption story of the year.

it will be funny if dumervile gets a SB ring before Manning get one in denver.

Well manning isn't getting one in Denver so he has a good shot

I want Flacco to win one more SB.  I feel he needs the validation more than any other player on the team.

I also feel we deserve the festivities that I experienced watching the Seahawks home opener Thursday.

To say our home opener against the Browns was a HUGE disappointment is a major understatement.

Need 3 rings in a window to be considered a dynasty I believe.

Writers are saying are a dynasty because they have 1 Superbowl ring.  You can tell who the favorites are in the league

Another sb win would mean alot to me after watching Seattle get to celebrate their win by kicking the season off with celebrities, fireworks and a home game beat down over the packers. We didn't get to experience any of that. It's almost like Denver got to celebrate the second half of the ravens victory. We need to win again so the players and the city can get to celebrate the right way.

I just want to surpass the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl wins before I die, just so I can rub it in my in-law's faces. So yes, every Super Bowl win is just as important because it brings me closer to living my dream.

Come on. We could win six in a row and the haters wouldn't shut up.

Like some, I was too young and not into football in 2000 but started watching and became a fan in 2003. So 2012 was really the first year I got to experience what it felt to watch your professional sports team become World Champions. When Ray announced his retirement, I knew(just like many here knew) that that Super Bowl was to get Ray his last ring, and Ed his first ring.

Now... it's time to prove the critics wrong. All last year we had to keep hearing about how we didn't have our general, our leader on the field and that it was because of Ray and Ed's absence that we missed the playoffs. Coming off a Super Bowl, having 5 straight years of playoff success, that didn't matter because now we didn't have Ray or Ed and we were supposed to fall off the face of the earth.

Like many, to end up in Arizona hoisting the Lombardi again, would be more of a Now what can you say? We won without Ray and Ed, you can't doubt us anymore.

Living in az and having the opportunity to go to the sb this year I'd love to win it right away.

I'm also friends with a lot of 49er fans so winning both this year and next year would really silence the talk of 5 rings. It would also make us more hated than before and more hated than New England. That part would make me smile.

Nothing will ever top the first one for me. Not only was it such an unlikely thing to happen, I was actually able to be there for it.

I agree. We made it to the Super Bowl with a defense that out scored our offense and FGs. The probability of that ever happening again is very small.

However, the drama of the 2012 season of Ray retiring, losing Art Moddel, getting a bunch of guys their first, avenging losses against DEN and NE for the previous AFCCG. I think it speaks volumes that we took out the Juggernaut of Denver when some reporters were betting their lives that we'd lose in Denver. 2012 is it for me because we went into 2 HOF QBs houses and left with the win. Watching Jacoby run that kickoff back after the half have me vivid memories of Jermaine Lewis doing it in 2000. I loved it all in 12
