Isnt that the topic of a Queensryche song?

Love them! My kids overwrote my music file and for the life of couldn't remember all the bands and this was one if them.

Isnt that the topic of a Queensryche song?

Found this on wikipedia about Silent Lucidity:

Because of the lyrical content, and the title of the song, it is assumed to be based on the subject of lucid dreaming. During the middle eight, a heavily vocoded voice even explains a method for this: "Visualize your dream. Record it in the present tense. Put it into a permanent form. If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control."

Didn't realize this is considered a phenomenon.  I actually do it fairly often.  About 2 weeks ago I was having a bad dream, and actually made myself wake up.  Of course, couldn't get back to sleep afterwards.    LOL

I am a semi regular lucid dreamer. I don't do it as often as I used to, mostly because I don't have nightmares anymore. Sleep paralysis has happened, once. Every few years or so. I didn't even realize they were related lol

Most people don't have the capacity to realize they are dreaming, and if they do being able to control the dream is even more rare.

Usually I'm on some kind of drugs when I dream.. My dreams are totally random because of it. I can control them but I hate doing so......

Why? That's pretty awesome to do what ever you want in a dream.

I have mental issues... So I take them to bring me down to earth. They're not recreational, prescription.

I was referring to the dreams, not the drugs.

Ah... I can control what happens in the dream, not the area where the dream takes place or the scenario. Every time  I try to pull a Neo and fly away it's like the simpson

I had a bad dream ojce but woke up, realized I was dreaming, went back to sleep, and got back into the same dream except I could control it. It was pretty sweet lol

Anyone ever have repetitive dreams of the same places and faces that you're unfamiliar with and don't recognize?

I swear, I've had multiple dreams that take place in places I've never seen before. Most are actually terrifying. I call them "déjà Vu dreams". Similar plots that never make sense lol. I can also remember having that dream before, what happens next, and not having the power to do anything except wake myself up.

I read somewhere that every face you see in a dream you've seen in reality but I don't know if that's true which freaks me out. I don't remember most faces and it's weird thinking that I do self-consciously. I also read that all your dreams are in 1st person view but I know that's not true since my dreams switch up between 1st person & 3rd person.

It's probably boring reading about this but dreaming really intrigues me. Sleeping in general does. :P

I've had that happen before too. I've never tried doing crazy things in my dreams though.

I think dreaming is incredibly fascinating. I've always been interested in it, but from what I can gather dreams are pretty much meaningless. You're mind needs to dream, but the content of the dreams doesn't really affect you in anyway. I guess Night Terrors can have actual physiological effects, but that is a very extreme example. There isn't a lot of serious research that goes into dreaming because of this, but I've considered exploring it from a scientific POV.

This is probably why Inception and A Waking Life are two of my all time favorite movies.

Thank you for that.

I never knew what the voice was saying...

I end up swimming through a cave, ending up on a beach with sharks walking on land like slugs, with my uncle who I never see, fishing in a spot I'm familiar with, walk a little bit and open a door that ends up at my old house and a bunch of other crap. I think there's something wrong lol. I only remember it because it's happened 3 times that I can recall. All of them were slightly different in some ways.

That's just one of the 3-4 other weird repetitive dreams I have. I haven't had them for awhile but I was thinking of having a journal next to my bed and when I wake up record it all. I'm too lazy though haha

I think I was being chased or something when I had it happen so I turned the tables and caught the guy which was pretty sweet but it wasn't too crazy either. I want to have that happen again though since it would be fun to try to do different things. I always end up having really weird dreams however with a lot of random stuff.

Is it me or when you try punching someone/something in a lucid dream it's extremely slow and weak?

It's just you. Unless you dream in bullet time

My dreams, all in which are lucid, can tend to be... I might sound crazy, a peak into the future. Except when it happens in the dream, I don't know what could be coming. But can control my actions, and eventually manipulate there's. Even read others minds in the dream.

For example. In last nights dream I was stuck in a Target at exactly 6:44 PM when a gunman walked in. He shot me 5 times in the chest. But because I realized it was a dream, I survived, and by thinking about it, I changed the gunman into a Harley Davidson. Clearly something that'll never happen(hopefully) in real night,

The night before, I dreamt I was in my best friends car, and we were just talking. It was something that happened, and the details of the convo actually happened. Not because I made it happen, but because it know her so well that I let her ask the questions haha. But difference is, in the dream I screw up and she throws me out of the car. And then in real life I fix it

I've never tried doing crazy things in my dreams though.

Craziest thing I've ever done was create Cthulu Batman and used the powers of the one, and his ability to catch bullets and stop them, to defeat him one on one.... Only to die because I accidentally made the sun explode

But the other person is punching at regular speed & strength, right?

For me its running.  I run in super slo-mo.  Can't ever get away.
