I'm surprised they didn't finalize cuts before practice started this morning. Well actually I'm not now that I think about it, today is when the phantom IR injuries will occur.

Simon is kind of surprising. I thought he would provide enough depth to let McPhee or Upshaw move into d line rotation.

Whoa. John Simon cut? I wasn't terribly impressed by him but I thought he might have redeemed himself. That would be a shocker. That would ruin my 53 as I had Simon on and Orr off.

Who is speculating that Simon is out ... other than people on this board who indicate they don't see him on the practice field at the moment. I'm not sure that's a clear indicator. I don't see that this has been reported by any of our insiders, has it?

I think it's because those guys aren't on the field and everyone else is. That's my guess.

Sorry, I didn't realize they had 53 guys on the practice field as we speak (do they?). We should just have someone tell us who they are and we could stop speculating. Players like Jensen, Shipley and others have been confirmed as cut through insider sources and Simon had not. That's all I was saying ... dude.

I can see us trading him. If we're in talks then we wouldn't want to expose him to injury by practicing. Not sure if that's the case but it's my guess.

Hensley stated, "The Ravens may be holding onto someone like Orr as insurance because they could trade a linebacker before rosters need to be finalized by 4 p.m." 

 

So, as Grim stated, Simon may be held out of practice to keep him from injury as we shop him. If we find no suitors, I'd then expect we'd retain Simon and release Orr. I can't imagine how these guys have to be on pins and needles while this is going on.

Well, there it is ... I'm still surprised we retained Orr and let Simon go, but there are always at least 2 or 3 unexpected moves that come at the roster deadline.

Maybe we can sneak him onto the PS. Gotta be honest, but Simon was really disappointing and he didn't improve much at all between these two seasons. It's a shame since he was a fourth round pick but I can't say it's extremely surprising after his poor play.

I like Orr. Kinda nice to see him make it.
