Next Up: Bengals!

I just don't want an anemic offense. I mean I'll ALWAYS take the W. But it WOULD be nice if our offense actually looked competent and not frustrating for once in a lifetime*.

Some of the media and alot of the fans on bengals forums think that the bengals are the better team. That just blows my mind. We're better than them at every position on offense except wr and at every position on defense except safety. Some argue that Atkins is better than Ngata but I think it's wrong to compare the two being that one is a 4-3 dt and the other is a 3-4 dt/nt.But anyway, what other parts of their team is better than ours besides safety and receiver? We're even better than them at every spot on special teams. Then we have the biggest advantage of all when you compare qb's.If it wasn't for Joe's leg being hurt in the detroit game,Andy Dalton would still be win less against the ravens. As long as Jimmy and Webb are both healthy, all of the match ups favor us in this game. The bengals are missing Marvin Jones who came on strong last year and had some big plays against us in that second game so that should help us too. After looking at this game match up for match up I'm thinking it will end up some like 30-10 ravens. If our offense can hurry up and get any type of a lead on the bengals in the first half then it's game over.Andy Dalton has proven over the years that he can do nothing vs our defense and I don't see that changing this game.Neither of these first games two scare me at all. It's our first road game in cleveland that I'm worried about.I'm not sure how comfortable our offense will be on the road vs a division foe who look like they should be tough defensively.September 21st is a long time away though.By then I could be looking back laughing at the fact that I was nervous at this point in the season.I better stop before this gets too long.30-10 RAVENS!!!!

Not even close. The bengals are the much more talented team but they lost both coordinators and they couldn't win a playoff game even when they had them. That being said this ain't the playoffs so were in for a tough one. Also you can't ask for a "no contest" for Atkins v Ngata because its clear who is better, and still try to compare the defensive ends and linebackers in the front 7. Have you ever seen or read up on the Bengals? Their offensive line is much better, their TEs are better, their RBs are better, their FB has proven to be what we want Juice to be and was converted from TE. Their entire offense is better hands down aside from QB. It's not even a fair contest, we need just as much of a handicap as you want on defense(Atkins v Ngata), just to come close to their offense. On defense they have a much deeper CB group(I'd even take screw up kirkpatrick over chykie in a heartbeat) and nice play making safeties who they know can get the job done, not to mention Nelson is a true FS.

It's very few positions on either offense or defense where Baltimore can say "we are outright better than them at this postion". That being said I think we win the game. Zimmer really worked wonders with all that talent he had and I'm not sure exactly how much his leaving will affect them, but im betting against them being the same or better than last year.

To clarify, this is a signature wager.  So someone bets on who will perform well on the ravens and someone puts something else in their signature.  I still have "Hawkprey is the best poster on this board."

So I bet Laquan Williams would outperform Tandon Dossm little stuff like that.

again, I believe it was you who said that it was ok.  Just wanted to clarify but not going to push.

Oh, forgot about that. We've had some wagering issues lately and might be a little touchy on the subject. You can make casual non-monetary wagers with other posters, but we're not doing anything formal to record and track the wagers. That kind of stuff always turns and bites us in the butt.

Moderator 3 and I are two different people...

It seems that both of us are telling you there will be no wagering.

lol now I see why you told me no wagering in the last preseason thread. I was just joking but I didn't know it was actually prevalent on this website. My bad.

lol......... This is a fantasy outlook on who should win a game. The fact is, no matter the individual talent, the best TEAM is the one that usually wins a game.

As bad as we were last year we still split with the "mighty and talented bungles" and could have easily beat them in the last game with just an average performance. They were not, and still are not all that.

I'm a little late on this, but I think it's hilarious that people think the offense will be a full go by week one. Uh, no.

Oh they had training camp and preseason games? They were lucky enough to get to play against their own teammates, who's tendency they know, and in games with no game planning involved? Wow, sounds like they'll be straight from the get go.

Let's get real. The Ravens haven't faced an actual defensive game plan that schemes around their defense. It's going to take time to make adjustment to calls and all. It's not unusual to think there will be communication errors as the team continues to master the playbook

We haven't lost at home to the Bengals since 2009. We play them tough in our building. This is a huge game for us since I don't see us beating the Steelers on the road on short rest.

You just responded to my post claiming it was a fantasy post but then basically said the exact same thing I said except without going in detail as to why the Ravens are the better team and likely to win overall, like I did. Why would you make a false claim about my post and then finish it with a watered down version of my post? This isn't the first time either....

Rivalry games are unpredictable. No matter how good or bad the Steelers or Bengals look our games are almost always competitive.

What!  What I read was you inferring that if Zimmer were still there they would be the better team, like they were last year?

"Zimmer really worked wonders with all that talent he had and I'm not sure exactly how much his leaving will affect them, but im betting against them being the same or better than last year."

What I said is that we split with them last year, and could have easily swept even though we were a shell of our normal squad. Watered down version of your post? not hardly. Not the first time?  No worries.........  lol.

That's the truth.  squealers, bungles and even the brownies all play us tough.

Doesn't make it a lot easier, but our second game is at home as well.

Well that's nice to know. I thought it was on the road. Normally I have the schedule printed out by now. Somehow the football season snuck up on me. haha

If you actually read my post you would see that I mainly speak on the fact that they are more talented at multiple positions and that was a response to someone claiming the Ravens were more talented and began to break things down individually. I count the coaches and their performance as part of the team as well and certainly it has a big effect. The bengals are known as one of the most talented teams that just can't get it done, this is nothing new. People say the Bengals are more talented than most of the league(and they are right) so they predict big things for them.

We were a shell of our former selves, what about their defense that lost its best players? We could have easily swept them, in what world? Should have, could have, would have....

Perhaps following the conversation before responding to my post and taking it out of context would avoid this. Also your inference was a bit off given that this conversation requires semantics.

Ok professor, I'll go stand in the corner.....lol

Yes, with just an average game we could have won last season's finale and swept. red rifle was his normal undependable self, gave us the opportunities but we just sucked, as was the theme of the season.

I make no prediction for this game based on team talent, coaching or any other metrics. Any and all AFC North Division games are generally tightly contested and a dog fight, no matter the talent that either team has on the field. Do I think we will win?  Heck yeah! Could we just as easily lose? Unfortunately the answer is yes, but I likes our chances.

I like our chances as I just don't believe the Bengals are as good without their former coordinators despite the fact they will be closer to full power this go around. Are the bengals the favorites of a lot of people because of the wealth of talent they possess, sure, but I really like our chances to take the division.

In recent news, Darian Stewart said he doesn't consider AJ Green a challenge and said he's just one guy.

He's going to learn real fast...

If Stewart gets torched by green, he's gotta do the postgame interview and do this
