Next Up: Bengals!

341 posts in this topic

I am not going to do all the quotes and multi-quotes. I will just say that totally agree with Militant x 1 and Edgar and Rav'n Maniac

We may stumble during the first possession on both offense and defese, but we will dominate by the second half. Ravens over Bengals and I really do not care by how much. Let's just get the job done guys! Go Ravens!!

I don't see how that would be shocking. You can't expect everyone to be perfect ALL THE TIME. Sometimes three and outs, missed passes or missed tackles and giving up big plays happens. These forums are wound up too tightly sometimes. I'm not saying, that I didn't join the panic chorus, but in all three preseason games our offense, defense and special teams looked really good.

I do have high expectations, but I won't immediatelly panic, if we get stopped on the first couple of drives. :D

No team comes out running on all cylinders, not even the Saints or Patriots. This is the NFL. Parity is promoted. I don't expect the Ravens to kill it out of the gate but I hope they do and I'm optimistic they will. Will I paid if we don't? Not off of one game. Will I be concerned? Maybe, depends on how we look.

I really like this match-up for us. First, our DL against their OL is one I'm really excited to see. I've said it a few times but Williams, Ngata and Canty with or rotation of Tyson and Jernigan with Upshaw and McPhee is going to look really good going against rookie center Bodine, an up and coming guard in Zeitler, and a decent guard in Boling. Then the edges, with Suggs, Dumervil, McPhee and Upshaw taking on an injury prone RT in Smith and an older LT in Whitworth. Then our LB, which have shown a penchant for blitzing, will be fun to watch. Combine that with a decent TE corps from the Bengals, with a sophomore TE in Tyler and an underwhelming TE in Gresham.

Yes, the Bengals have good WR but they're missing Jones and while Green is really good Smith has shut him down multiple times. Sanu hasn't really impressed yet but I like Webb covering him. Overall I think we'll be very effective on defense.

The key to the game is shutting down the run but stopping the pass. Elam and our DL need to have a good game on defense.

On offense, I'm still not to afraid of the Bengals. Their DL doesn't look as dominant as it has been. Their LB are the strength of their defense. Dunlap is a good player but losing Johnson hurts their pass rush even with guys like Gilberry and Hunt. Yeah, they invested into their CB corps but outside of Leon Hall nobody concerns me yet. Dennard is a rookie and he's hurt. Not even sure he plays. Newman is old man. Kirkpatrick has been injured every year.

I'm just not scared of this Bengals team especially after losing Zimmer. I think we'll beat them.

something tells me these next 2 games for us will be a dog fight ,   my prediction either this game is going to be a close  21 23 or a blow out  followed by another of the same  but I prededict this one could be our OT game this year

Based on what I saw in the preseason, our offense will be around 90% ready with the new system, meaning they'll have it down about 9 out of 10 times, blowing it on 1 out of 10 plays with some sort of missed assignment, wrong route, wrong read, etc.

The defense will be bend but don't break giving up mostly FGs instead of TDs, but it will also force more turnovers and punts than last year's did because of our improved pass rush and faster defenders flying to the ball.

Overall, I think we're the best team in the AFC North.

We're gonna give up TWO safeties?! Come on!

No no. That would be silly.

A 1 point safety because Tucker gets cute on a point after and a FG because Flacco punts on 1st down because he feels bad for Dalton.

I was thinking more of a field goal with a two point conversion following.

Welcome to the forums! I agree with you BUT only 5 DB's scares me a bit.

As long as 2 of our top three corners are playing I'm not too worried. I mean, the Webb situation worries me cause we dont fully understand the severity of his back issues (maybe no one else does either)? As I mentioned before, they will move the ball on us. But Dalton? Nah...

Your "prediction" is as useful as saying the stock market will rise or fall in the coming year. :)

But I do hope your are right about the blow out.

Go Ravens

I'm excited for this game. I think this is going to be an interesting battle between Whitworth, Boling, Bodine, Zeitler, and Smith VS Ngata, Williams and Canty. I haven't watched a ton of Bengals games, but Williams on Bodine is going to be an interesting battle. I'm sure he will get help from Zeitler, but I'm not sure how they can stop that front 3. If you have the RG and C doubling the NT, then that frees up the DT (Ngata) to slide through. I'm not sure that is a good idea, lol.

sounds like a slight advantage for us, too bad KLM went down man we would have been able to dominate that line with just an extra big body out there against the run.

i would also prefer to see more tyson than canty, canty seems more like the guy for obvious passing downs, he just isnt quite powerful enough to do what williams and ngata can do against the run

Is Asa #3 corner?

I would think when we go to sub package, Chykie would play outside and move Webb to the slot. At least early on. If Chykie fails to preform, they go with Asa in the slot. Just my guess.

I think that our boys will be up for the challenge and get the "W."  Let's goooo!

Playing the defending AFC North Champions and the team that ended our season...Oh yes. They will be up for this one. Can't wait!

We need to pummel the Bengals so badly, that their fans stop fantasizing about being anything close to the Ravens in stature... The AFC North has and will always belong to the big dogs - Ravens and Steelers.

I just dont see it with the Steelers, I really don't see how they improved. Their Depth is even worse than ours in the secondary and O-Line. Come to think of it their WR is lacking depth too (maybe thats why we kept all 7 WR) but i'll save that for after the bengals game.

No Marvin Jones for Cincy. We have to tackle Gio and Andy, hit his hard hit him early, get him rattled. Jimmy Smith should be able to contain AJ Green, If our offense comes out firing on all cylinders, and i damn sure believe they will. (Like 2011 vs. Pitt and 2012 vs. Cincy) we should win.

in all honesty if dalton plays the way he did in preseason ......it could look like 70 17 us....kid threw not one not two but eight picks in preseason not a good start

I don't know where you got that from because Andy Dalton didn't throw a interception at all this year in preseason

I like it! We need to start with the W, especially opening at home. Not in our house baby!

Remember the last time we opened against Cincy? Let's do that again.

I was just about to say the same thing.

I have a feeling that we are going to absolutely smash stuff on sunday.

My prediction- Ravens 34- Bengals 17

I'm predicting a sack/fumble with Upshaw recovering the fumble and either Williams or Doom getting the sack.

THERE IS NO WAGERING ALLOWED ON THE SITE... PLEASE DO NOT BRING IT UP AGAIN FOLKS.

Just wondering, are we still going to do the "forum wager" thing someone thought of a couple months ago?

To clarify, this is a signature wager.  So someone bets on who will perform well on the ravens and someone puts something else in their signature.  I still have "Hawkprey is the best poster on this board."

So I bet Laquan Williams would outperform Tandon Dossm little stuff like that.

No, we're not wagering.

again, I believe it was you who said that it was ok.  Just wanted to clarify but not going to push.

I just hope we see some Shotgun or 4wr and use all these WRs to attack teams with weak cb depth.

I know Kubiak likes the TEs and Juice but we gotta mix it up and use all this speed.
